Yesternight i was walking home after i finished watching a football game at a viewing centre in my area.
As i turned into a road in between two houses leading to my street,a little boy walked up right behind me and said,'bros,my mummy dey call you'

I turned to look at him.He was a boy of about six or seven.I couldn't see his face properly as it was quite dark.

'who is your mummy?',i asked him.

He pointed at a particular direction and i could see a woman from that direction walking towards us.She had another baby strapped to her back.I was wondering what business i had with his mummy or maybe she saw my face as a familiar one and was trying to reconnect.Anyway,i was about to find out soon.

'Bros,no vex for me abeg.I wan ask you for a favour. Please bros, can you buy indomie #100 for me and my children to chop abeg.We never eat since morning',she said.

Wow.They must have been really hungry for her to come outside and ask for help.I wanted to ask of her husband but i thought against doing so.

'I don't have any money on me at all o.I just dey come back from where i go watch ball but shey you go fit chop rice or garri?'

She nodded in the affirmative, saying anyone will do.I told her to follow me and as we were going, she was thanking me and telling me how she was feeling ashamed to ask from the provision shop owners because she was owing some of them.

I asked her where she stayed and she said she lived a little further up from where i lived.

On reaching the gate to my place,i told her to wait for me there.I got inside and scooped some amounts of raw rice and garri for her.I thought about the debt she owed and concluded it'd be nice to help her with 2k to offset the debts she owed and also buy some ingredients to cook the rice.
The money was important to me but here was a woman dying. What could be much more important than trying to save a life from hunger?
I got outside and handed over the rice and garri to her.Mehn, this woman wan embarass me with thanks and blessings oo.

I couldn't count the number of times i told her 'it's ok,ma'.I then gave her 2k to help cook the food.

Omo,the next thing she did shocked me.She layed on the floor thanking me and praying for me.

I just dey hear 'you go marry better wife, you go get good job, your parents go enjoy you, accident no go see you...'

I was embarassed to the core and begging her to stand up.She did and left for home happily.

I felt kinda giddy that i could make one so happy.
Sometimes, these little things we do for people matter. It can save one from unhappiness, depression, overthinking, etc.

I'm not a perfect human being. Not even close but last night i felt happy inside that i could make another smile.

No doubt there is and greater hunger is coming. It is what we want otherwise, we will start to demand those in government do what they are elected to do and stop running after our politicians because of the paltry sum they give us during election.

No lies here,bro.

We are not ready to demand for a better government.
We are so separated across ethnic divides and religious affiliations to see that these our useless leaders are ruining this country

Nigerians still dont want to be wise angry
I can help a fellow nigga( not married)...but all these married men and women, single mums, i'v stopped...
If after all that's happening in this country, you decided to marry and born without having enough to fend for yourselves( stable income), then don't expect me to pity your stupidity....
Thats how i saw one that was forming class now carrying a baby and staying with her parents grin ..you needed to see the look on her face when our eyes met...
Pity these women at your own peril..
I dont hate them o...but most of them are the cause of their problems

Now that you've fed her today, what will she eat tomorrow?

Without adequate empowerment, she will finish what you've given her and get back to the streets again to beg.

She told me she plaits hair but doesn't have a shop.Anytime there's a customer who needs her services, she goes to the home of the person to work.

We really need to help those in need.
A little help goes a long way.

Unfortunately sometimes you just don't know where to help. If it is genuine.
So much fraud these days and also people out there trying to exploit.
When this corona started I reached out to help a single mum who claimed she hadn't been paid for three months. I gave her 3 times what her salary was in a month only for thos lady to write me after a week that her gas finished and she can't cook and she feels like committing suicide.
Her demands kept increasing. At a stage her daughter also started writting me .
Constant requests and constant God bless you.
What saddened me is that some people think that they can scam you. They don't understand that they are blocking help from getting to people who genuinely need it.

I understand man...
But there's a difference between someone who had before and then things went south and someone who never had at all and still got married hoping things would change....
The former would be asking for a job, the latter would be begging for money 24/7 ..

Very correct.

But please I Beg you, If anyone come to you for help, if you have something to give out at that moment, just give and forget whatever story behind the begging, you might not know when you will be saving a generation by just a little token.....

Times are hard bro...

in my own experience excessive gratitude is not a sign of true appreciation. the woman might just be a local begger or she is trying to move you to do more.

Apart from the single mothers, not everyone of such people got into those situations due to no proper planning. Just one event of life can empty someone's fat bank account or investment. It is what I've seen happen.

Some families have just one child which was fine at first until the child continued to incur expenses while growing, economic inflation got worse and their income never increased , making them look as if they have 5 children.
But there are also set awon God that gives children will take care of them

Some of us are happier being able to give.

Most times I give and you wouldn't know the depth of my debts, but nothing is as fulfilling as seeing someone smile because of you.
God no go shame us.
