Let's stop deceiving ourselves.. Owerri is no where at present more beautiful than Enugu, Abakaliki and Awka.. Maybe it should be dragging with umuahia.. I'm from imo but I need to be objective.. Owerri used to be very beautiful in the early and middle 2000s but not anymore.. They're no roads in owerri and no street lights.. How can a city be beautiful without this, the presence of hotels everywhere shouldn't confuse one biko.. I'm sad at the present situation in owerri, is now a centre of prostitution and numerous jobless yahoo boys, as bad as it is.. I can even see part of the demolished freedom Park and Akachi, I really wish the present governor can work on the roads and also work on employment of the Youths.. Then we can beat our chest and be proud we've arrived.. But for now owerri is still far from being beautiful again

Owerri was developing very fast because Okorocha's government was clearly focused but the story is no longer the same now. Development in Owerri is tourism driven and Okorocha's focus on building of parks, monuments, city decorations, streetlightings, opening up new highbrow layouts, allocating lands to foreign politicians to build in Owerri, making it compulsory that his family members and political associates must invest in Imo first before anywhere else, building of multiple event centers, expansion of city roads, relocating markets from city center to outskirts and rural areas, restricting Tricycles from city to outskirts, organizing the public transport with vehicle identification numbers, hosting foreign Presidents and diplomats, yearly Imo carnival, building of international Cargo Airport, establishing industrial zone at Egbema and a host of other policies helped.

I'm very very sad that because of bitter politics his successors came and destroyed these gains and suddenly Imo is going backwards and backwards simply because nobody is courageous enough to say the truth. Presently many who invested in Owerri especially real estate when Okorocha was there are regretting. Only divine intervention will save Imo now.

Owerri, the city which stole the development of other towns in Imo state.

Owerri development is by Owerri seizing all government universities and polytechnics in Imo state for Owerri, and fights every governor who tried to locate IMSU outside Owerri.

Develop conscience as you celebrate. Imo state was created to develop Okigwe and Orlu also, not only Owerri.

Controversial eastern palm university
This one is not owerri sha

Why is Eastern Palm University controversial? Owerri people made it controversial when Owerri landlords fought former governor Okorocha who set out to locate IMSU permanently in the grounds of today’s Eastern Palm University, so that Owerri could make do with FUTO, AIFCE, FEDPOLYNEKEDE, FERCOLAT and even Imopoly nearest Owerri.

Define primitive greed in Owerri dialect. How come such greed?

Okorocha concentrated nearly 99% on development of Owerri.

You are happy.

You wrote volumes here and dropped the impression that Imo state is Owerri.

You never reckoned or mentioned Orlu and Okigwe that were more or less on same urban development levels when Imo state was created.

Industries make mega city with cash flow. Govt funds are meant for near uniform development in a state or country.

How many industries have you built in Owerri to have mega city with cash flow? You depend on ignorant governors who think like you that once state capital is developed to mega city with federal allocations and IGR of the state and its LGAs, rest of the state can go to hell.

How about Buhari seizing all development institutions of government for Abuja, concentrate with Nigeria’s revenues 99% - more or less - in development of Abuja, ignores your dream city Owerri and others?

The myriad hotels in Owerri spring up because of locating six tertiary education institutions in Imo state in Owerri with young fleshy students for prostitution in the hotels.

If native owners of Owerri didn’t like the prostitution and hotels, they wouldn’t fight all governors of Imo state since 1999 who tried to remove one tertiary education institution from Owerri to Orlu or another place with nothing.

If they have good conscience, they should be asking: how come in Imo state, it’s only Owerri area which has all government institutions that induce development wherever located, but nothing in Orlu and Okigwe areas?

Love your neighbors.

If Owerri people loved their Orlu and Okigwe neighbors, they would have considered leaving some government institutions that usher in development in Okigwe and Orlu.

What are you celebrating when your Orlu and Okigwe neighbors are like shitholes?

You have always been apologetic on behalf of Okoroawusa. The bolded runs contrary to the stratagem of infrastructural development. How one set to building of parks, monuments, city decorations, streetlightings and opening up new highbrow layouts without roads? If the roads to these numerated structures are wanting, then Okoroawusa and his supporters are glorified fools. Roads take precedent to any infrastructural development.
I really do not understand what you meant by "Allocating lands to foreign politicians to build in Owerri"? Th land allocation should go to local investors not foreign politicians who have turned into real estate agents in Owerri.

Is the bolded remotely correct? I guess Gregory university is situated in Uturu, Abia State. How does Abia State concerns Okigwe zone?
