Many thanks for taking your time to respond on this. Much appreciated. i like how you concluded that with follow your instincts, after all my instincts have never failed me so far. you are a great guy!
onegentleguy:

In line with my reply to u above, let me also relate it to this TRANSCORP.
Yes there are surrounding RISK in the coy, which apparently "eats deep into" near term feasible REWARD.
U already mentioned some of those worries/risk like low RECEIVABLES. There's also the worry about weak cash flow position, high LEVERAGE, low AER, low EM and low CGPR.

However, its imperative to consistently seek ways to RELATE the price of an asset to its FVE discounting all worries (attach a % risk premium where necessary) to see if and how feasible REWARD compares to RISK.(again, this is a VALUE INVESTING approach)

Ask urself; How has the race btw RISK and REWARD faired?(MoS from RR peg in view)
Assuming I decide to detach future CF and attach zero growth margin, how will both entities relate to each other?(quest for near term value/return in view)
Finally, how does the drive for VALUE benchmarked against RISK relate to EXPECTED RETURN?

Hint; Can u use a valuation model that can factor in the worries in receivables(low receivable turnover), low Cash position, debt position and all liabilities... but imploys an approach that discounts a % proportion of all lines in lieu of future risk.
Perhaps when u do that, u would see that today's YtD low price of 51k might well be a great bargain irrespective of any and all worries.
That point when RISK makes a mockery of REWARD !!(be the contrarian)
Maybe... just maybe...

cc: @Kaksio and all those who sent me private mails for my view on TRANSCORP.

Disclosure: TRANSCORP is currently not a part of our portfolios. ...just putting out a perspective for those who might wish to consider it in line with their investment objective.
Disclaimer: NOT to be infered to as any sought of recommendation.

My advise? Pls follow ur instinct.

From Wema...

Below expection? Yes. ...management were clearly inefficient and a bit wasteful in some lines. There is a need to reduce some of their expense line.
Very disappointing? Hell No !!

I just wonder how some of us interpret financial statement. wink cheesy grin
Again, earnings does not tell the whole story. ...it can be manipulated either way.
Always seek to review and weigh/compare a collection of several key indicators to get a wider and better perspective with valuing an asset.

Ask urself;
Why was EBITDA margin(a prelude to EPS) down by approx 31% despite operating margin showing a net positive in H1, 2020 compared to the corresponding period of last yr?
Why did shareholders equity(a function of a coys BV) print a net positive desipite a strain in OCF?(see C&CE)

It's important to always seek out and outline the pros and cons in an average, flat, below expectation, poor or bad financial report, the same way u would for a good, above expectation or great report.
...then u can better compare and weigh the right mix of indicators, attach the needed risk premium before valuing the asset

Look at the banks statement of CF and compare Nos, then read the NTS.
Maybe then, u might begin to see things a bit differently.

Hear this;
This result brought with it less of a RISK than REWARD.(risk-reward run in view)
At the current mkt price, WEMA is a giveaway.
Yes, its a strong BUY !!

Are there better banking coys than WEMA? Without a doubt, yes !!
But that still shouldn't take away from the essence of this post.
Everything will depend on one's investment personality and goals.

NOTE: NOT an investment advice.

OKOMU, PRESCO and FTN cocoa in one line?
Reminds me of that song by Abba wink cheesy grin
...lyrics;

"I have a dream, a FANTASY
To help me through... reality
And my destination makes it worth the while
Pushing through the darkness still another mile
I believe in angels
Something good in everything I see
I believe in angels
When I know the time is right for me
I'll cross the stream - I have a dream"

But I just don't know if there's SOMETHING GOOD to see in FTN at the moment or if indeed there are ANGELS lurking around !!
Just hope that those wishing to take that DESTINATION wouldn't experience that part in bold. wink cheesy grin

...caution.

For those who don't know, there is a difference between share holders and shell holders. Mcy's use of term is not a spelling error but used in a context to pass a message.

Presco and Okomu have been paying dividends consistently for the past 18 years and they have been growing their earnings over the years.

So no basis for comparison

FTN cocoa should be delisted. Is that firm still alive?

Agricultural stocks will need to sell off later. I foresee Okomu at N35 and PRESCO at between N25 to N28. Just tread carefully.

The Financials of this company is not even anywhere. This company has billions in outstanding shares. Any serious investor in the Cocoa business would rather start afresh.
