Hello car gurus, I own a 09 Corolla which I parked yester night in the garage without any inkling of an issue. This morning I cranked the engine and engaged the gear but the car would not move. What causes this? Please I need your help. |

Check the dashboard if the gear you entered displayed on the appropriate gear on the dashboard. It may be a transmission issue |

I am still on the matter, invited my mechanic with electrician to check, they have checked the electrical wiring and the mechanical parts i.e the shaft whether its pulled and the likes. Their suggestion now is to have the car towed to gear specialist for repairs. I am of a different view that the gear isnt faulty (i may be wrong) since it is shifting, displaying on the dashboard, no clicking, squealing noise, smell and the oil level is maintained. What do you suggest? I really need help. |

The sensor that tells the Car which gear you selected might be dirty if it is showing R and D as on you can try removing the bezel and take a look at the dirt that may be causing the problem 3 Likes |

Mottomata:The gear stick isn't loose. the technician confirms its intact. He has even washed and replaced the filter all to no avail. |

It might be a simple computer glitch.. Reset your car by removing the battery head for about 10mins, after which turn on ur headlight then switch it off after a few seconds to discharge any voltage in the system. After ward, plug back ur battery head and start the car and test. If that doesn't work, run a scan and post the codes 2 Likes 1 Share |

it's a stolen car. the owner is already tracking you. their is something computerized in that car telling the car not to move. it will never move and no mechanic can fix that. before guy with that car. |

ksmart027:there is some device installed and once it's stolen the can will fit move. from his narration it's pointing to that. and he has not provide enough information of the history of the car |
