As a proud Yoruba man, there is no way I would subscribe to this image laundering act been exhibited by Tinubu and his cohort. If the Fulani man who happens to be the president of this geographical expression had ruled the country with justice, fairness and equity, citizens would have a sense of belonging and irrespective of whatever any person said in the past wouldn't have mattered because that would have been the personal personal opinion but unfortunately the country is badly governed and there is hopelessness and hunger in the land and everybody is fed up with this colonial arrangement and rather than bring prosperity to the people, they have been subjected to untold hardship. irrespective of the political aspiration of Mr Tinubu we all demand peaceful disintegration of this entity into its constituent geographical makeup.

But this one he helped enthroned played a huge and unapologetic part in that same regime and sees nothing wrong with that regime until this day. How do you reconcile that?

And in a twist of fate, many will chose that same military regime over the catastrophe this phantom democracy has turned out to be.

Very funny.

I'm not big on politics but you don't believe in your country based on situations or conditions. That's not how patriotism works. If everything were good, there wouldn't even be any reason to bring up the subject of if you believe or not. It is only in such hard times that one really knows who believes in Nigeria and who doesn't and he said he didn't. If you say you don't believe in Nigeria when things aren't going your way and then turn around to believe in her when you get what you want, then you must understand the perspective of people who don't believe now because you were once in their shoes.

Anyway, people change. Everyone has the right to have a change of opinion and Tinubu isn't an exception. Just that this kind of statements is strong enough to affect one's political ambitions. And it's not our duty to defend these politicians. They don't care about us. Let's get logical and not emotional. Having a president of one's tribe doesn't put food on one's table. Let's judge by character. If Tinubu is a good man and Nigerians want him, cool. If federal character demands that an Easterner will rule, it's not enough to be from the East, let's the Easterners look for a reputable leader who has the interest of the people at heart. Let's move forward.

Me, I'd say I believe in Nigeria. But I guess I don't have the right to say that since I don't live in Nigeria.

#NoToTribalism

And who would bother to mention Tinubu’s 1997 blunder if he believes in one Nigeria in 2020?

Or does Tinubu not understand that his positioning himself for 2023 presidential race amounts to Tinubu being scornful to the Igbos who are also equal stakeholders to his Yoruba in the Nigerian project?

Does Tinubu not understand that his positioning himself for the 2023 presidential election against rotation of the presidency which benefited his Yoruba, amounts to an act against continuation of one Nigeria?

If indeed Tinubu was against the military dictatorship, why then did he support support an incompetent ex-military dictator back into power thereby putting Nigeria in a worse situation than it was? They should stop this hypocrisy, we can never have a peaceful and prosperous nation unless we embrace true federalism and regional independent resource control.Anything short of this, our children and children's children have no future in this country. Nigeria was never designed to be successful as a nation by colonial masters despite our huge potentials in natural wealth and human resources, our foundation was wrong ab initio which needs to be rebuilt by having a brand new constitution that reflects our aims and aspirations as a people with common interest in order to truly enjoy the united benefits of our diversity.

El-Rufai - It's Time to Restructure Nation
10 AUGUST 2010

For Nigeria to move to the next level, the issue of true federalism must be addressed, according to former FCT Minister, Malam Nasir El-Rufai. He shares his thoughts with Imam Imam.

Apprehension about the composition and workability of the Nigerian nation-state will subside if the country tilts towards true federalism, according to former FCT Minister, Malam Nasir El-Rufai. He said the present situation of things where all the component units get monthly allocations from the Federal Government only makes the states lazy and unproductive, adding that lack of foresight, financial discipline and lackadaisical approach to governance has played huge roles in limiting the country's march to greatness.

Many Of Those Calling For Restructuring Are Opportunists, Irresponsible – El-Rufai

The Kaduna State Governor, El-Rufai has described recent calls for the restructuring of Nigeria as political opportunism and irresponsibility.

El-Rufai, while speaking on Channels TV’s Sunrise Daily said President Buhari’s administration has done far more in practical terms than past administrations and that many of those calling for a restructuring rather see it as a means of opportunism.

He stated that some of the practical steps taken towards restructuring included the fact that state governors are now more than ever, involved in economic policy making at the national level.

According to him, things that have always been hidden from state governments are now much more open as they are now more involved in investigations of finances of the excess crude account, among other things.

“We meet every month under the auspice of the National Economic Council and working together with the Federal Government we chart directions of economic policy and that is part of shifting the federal- state balance.

“A lot of the talk about political restructuring is political opportunism and irresponsibility in my opinion

“It is popular and people that have presidential aspirations think there is a platform upon which they will exploit this. As I said, if you look at the APC manifesto, all the elements to divulge power to the state to change the balance in the federation are there and we are committed to that as a party.

“The National Chairman of our party will restate that commitment and we are discussing it and as I said President Buhari and Osinbajo’s government has taken very concrete steps rather than rhetoric to actually move in that direction and we are going to move in that direction but we do not believe that the basis for it is rhetoric and opportunism, we do not believe that the 2014 CONFAB report is a sensible basis to even begin.

“We all know the circumstances in which the so-called CONFAB was put together, we all know the composition, how lopsided it was, how important stakeholders were not taken to account, how even the composition and numbers do not reflect the demographics and the diversity of this country and we took a position as a party not to participate but to encourage our state governors to be there at the table.”

Funny, I saw a document which Lord Lugard said Nigeria was supposed to remain one for 100yrs starting from 1914. That meant we could’ve seceded in 2014 ideally.
However, the ruling class knows this and are trying to keep it from happening that’s why they be using all sort of threats, pressure and the military on IPOB. If you notice, the elite northerners have been trying to develop their region for years now with the building of schools (military and conventional), hospitals and even good roads too.
Las las, the igbos and yorubas should come together and root out the northerners first... let them be the ones facing their insecurities.
