You see, they are already pushing for blasphemy law internationally since the last incident that led to lynchings of some guys in EU. This is why govt makes law. I have not argue about "fighting for God", "God is merciful", "God is forgiving", etc as some are pointing out. I know exactly what I'm doing for not bringing such arguments up. I have not pointed out Qur'an or hadith. My stand is govt makes law. This alone must be respected. Whether the judgment was right or wrong is another thing. I know it doesn't sound logical when I used that parrallel example but I honestly don't care. My standpoint was govt makes law. The law is recognized by federal govt. The law is not illegal so this is not about they are fighting for God or they are extremists. Govt simply made law to be obeyed. Lack of law leads to indiscipline. Yoruba people say "ilu ti ko si ofin ko si ese. Ilu ti ofin ba wa ni ese was" So I am not arguing from religious point of view. Kano simply made state law and the way to help the guy is not about condemning the law but by pleading to the govt. Govt can make law. If govt says something is a crime it means a crime. This is simple physics. You see all the arguments on social media have not helped the guy in the least. The right people that can help him have been in support of the govt. This is what many of you guys don't get. Kano governor, lawyers, jury are those in the position to help the guy not this online rant. And all these people I mentioned support his execution. The last thing for us is to argue with govt. Govt can do and undo. It is much better to plead to the govt rather than argue. I understand this is not even Sharia that came with Islam but political Sharia. I get that. But again, this is state law. This is my position. The reason many are against it especially non-Muslims is because they are used to lawlessness in the country. They think based on their own individual views. So this is not about whether it is morally right or wrong to punish someone for blasphemy. This is about state law recognized by federal govt. So all this noise won't help the guy. League of lawyers in Kano are already working to have the guy executed. So I don't get all this noise on social media?. How does it help the guy?. If silly law is passed in western world you dare not challenge them. They will tell you that law is law. You can be arrested for almost anything there too which Nigerians take for granted everyday in Nigeria. You can be sent to criminal court for running your car unattended in some State. It is a crime but not serious one. You can be arrested for criminal offence for holding bottle or drink beer in public in New York. These are things you take for granted in Nigeria. Simple traffic stop in New York may be treated with kiddie gloves. But in other state it may be treated as serious criminal case. It is just what it is. So the way Kano state law is looking at it is not the way many of you guys online are looking at it. So this is not the way to help the guy. All these arguments will aggravate authority. You all should be pleading to leniency not arguing with the govt. Again, this is not about fighting for God and I am not and I have not argue from religious point of view. I am arguing from the standpoint of the law. Govt knows the reason they passed this law and it doesn't make sense to condemn them. Rather to plead to them. A guy did the same in Mauritania years ago and he was sentenced to death. After several pleads from citizens his sentence was reduced to jail. So this is not about God is forgiving, fighting for God, extremism and so on. This is about law and the law is not illegal. It is recognized by federal government of Nigeria. This is what many of you don't get. It would be extremism if individual or group of individuals kill someone for blasphemy. This is jungle justice and it is illegal. Again, govt can do and undo. Florida for instance has a silly law and there is nothing anymore can do about it unless govt decides to repeal it. Their law is called "stand your ground law". This is very controversial. You know what it means?. It means if you have altercation with someone and the fellow feels you are a threat to him or her he has right to gun you down. Does this not sound like jungle justice?. It doesn't make sense but it is the law. It is the same in Kano. Blasphemy is criminal offence punishable by death. Is it not better to avoid commiting this crime rather putting family in distress?. As for those who said this Sharia law exempts govt officials. Well, Nigeria constitution itself is for the poor. When was the last time govt official persecuted successfully in the country?. This doesn't make sense to me. Germany had their capital punishment when the country was religious. Now that they have abandoned religion for secularism they adopted secular law. But Nigeria is religious country whether you like it or not. All your govt offices are filled with religious bullshit but you hypocritically applied secular laws while engaged in serious religious shenanigans even in govt offices and during official duties. Ogun state present governor's office is one example. His office is filled with pictures of Jesus, crosses and White pastor during official duties. Was it not years ago your former president knelt down before religious leader to pray for him?. Where do you see that in Germany?. Nigeria is hypocrite. You need to apply biblical and Islamic law if truly you are sincere with yourselves.. Your secular law isn't helping the country one bit. I repeat, Nigeria is not a secular country. Prove me wrong. Empiree:Still talking more nonsense. When was this time than Germany had a state religion that it abandoned? Does China or North Korea which execute people have a state religion? Nigerians being religious is irrelevant to the fact we operate a secular constitutional framework. Sharia Law is relatively new in Nigeria and it's not because we suddenly became more religious. It's because Obasanjo succumbed to the riots and violent threats of emboldened Islamofascist radicals which led to the adoption of a fragrantly unconstitutional parallel constitution operating Islamic jurisprudence. What does prayer have to do with anything? American Presidents openly display their Christian devotion and America is not ruled by fascist thugs compelling conformity to religious laws. Secular law exists to protect the rights and civil liberties of all citizens irrespective of their religion. And secular law succeeds in an atmosphere of tolerance and not one where depraved psychopaths call for the execution of a youngg man because his words hurt their feelings. |

Empiree:You exude too much ignorance on the meaning of a secular country. Nigeria being a secular country does NOT individual Nigerians (including Government officials) can't practice religion. It only means the STATE/COUNTRY shall not adopt any religion. The Governor of a State receiving white religious leaders or having a cross on his desk doesn't mean his State has adopted any religion. The religion being practiced by a President doesn't mean the official religion of the country which every president must observe. |

You are not telling yourself the truth. Nigerians are hypocrites. Imagine you are saying this?. When Amosun was in office he didn't do that. If he did Christians would scream "islamization". You and I know many things Christians have been doing in the country to Muslims. Wearing hijab to work or school is islamization. Introducing Sharia compliance banking system is islamization etc. Buhari goes to mosque is islamization agenda. Didn't we hear you guys say this many times?. Lastly, did you hear about NEPA office in Lagos was shutdown on January 2nd this year bcuz Christians are praying for the new year?. Customers waited for hrs just to pay their bill. A customer called headquarters in Marina to report the incident but he was told it is new year's prayer in entire country. Nigeria is a secular country right? . I have more stories like this even in doctors' offices headed by Christians. E ma tan ara yin. oyatz: |

Empiree:Secularity of the State means the State (as represented by their Government) has no OFFICIAL religion. This doesn't mean residents of the State or even the Governor of the State can't practice any religion. I am sure you know this well but you just want to prove you don't understand because of your bias for your religion. It's even worse that the religion is an imported religion while leaving the religion of your fore fathers. It's most unfortunate seeing Black men violently insisting that a Blackman be killed for allegedly insulting an Arab Prophet who died over a thousand years ago while no Arab has ever armed a fellow Arab because of a black man. |

oyatz:Stop deceiving yourself man. Don't teach me your hypocritical definition of "secularism". Nigeria is not a secular state. Keep deceiving yourself. It is far from secularism. Didnt Wike declared his state a christian state and no one said anything about it?. Instead, Adeboye and co threw their support behind him. Keep deceiving yourself. And you guys really need to stop your foolishness for saying I am supporting killing Black man. Stop this nonsense right now. I have not argued from religious perspective. My position has always been about State Law. State passed blashphemy law recognized by federal govt. Law is law. Why are you guys have difficulty understanding very simple analysis?. The only way you could have had better argument was to protest the law before the Bill was passed decades ago. Many of you guys were babies when the law was passed. You have no idea reason behind it. The law is here to stay until govt decides to repeal it. Everything you guys are doing on the internet about this case is not helping the guy. It is like you are contending the law which is very wrong move. So please stop talking about the country doesn't recognize religion. Nigeria is a religious country. If it is not, why so much damn churches?. Do you have idea how these churches came about especially in Lagos?. All those churches you see in Lagos were once investment companies. Christians bought them and converted them to churches. Also if Nigeria is truly a secular state, how dare Obasanjo tasked all states in nigeria millions of naira to build Abuja national church?. America is secular state but did you hear their president task governors to contribute towards building churches?. Nigeria is a joke. It is country that says one thing but does another. If you are talking about secularism, it is Abuja central mosque which was built by donations from individuals. So in the case of Kano, it is state law. If law states 'this is a no go area' then why do you do there?. Secularism in itself is hypocritical. In Norway recently, their PM recognized the right too desecrate Quran. It says it is freedom of speech to desecrate Quran. Yet in Germany the same 'secular' country has a law that makes it a crime to deny holocaust. You people need to stop deceiving yourselves. Obey the law. That's my point. Even US that champions secularism is not 100%. They have grant (funds) meant for christians only. They don't tell you this on national TV. Apart from this, there are non profit charity orgs directly and indirectly funded by federal, state and local govt. These charity places are catholic churches to fund less privilege like housing, food etc. So obey the law regardless of what your opinion is. You guys are not helping the guy. Your argument against the law is not helping the guy at all. Your argument is that you don't recognize the law while in fact, lawyers, judges, jury, and governor already recognized the law and are ready, willing and able to carry our death penalty while you're on the internet yelling. Is this how to help the guy?. If you truly want to help the guy, reach out to lawyers, court and governor and plead to them instead arguing blinding on the internet. It is too late for that. What am I going to do with his death?. . What you should be doing is to help him appeal his case. Thats how legal process works. And tell Wike to establish Biblical laws too since it is a christian state. Bunch of hypocrites.

Empiree:You are just playing to the gallery. The CONSTITUTION of Nigeria (and NOT the actions of the president for a Governor )is the supreme law of the country and this Constitution expressly state that Nigeria shall be a secular country and that Government of any part of Nigeria shall NOT adopt any religion. The law of Kano State is inferior to the constituency and that law needs to be challenged upto the supreme Court. |
| Re: Muslim Lawyers Association Of Nigeria Endorses Death Penalty For Kano Blasphemer by Empiree: 5:14pm On Sep 05, 2020 |
oyatz:You guys keep saying this over and over but this rubbish doesn't help the guy. You are all just showing irrational emotions instead of facing the reality. Reality is, you need to ask yourself question. Do you think Kano enacted this penal code without federal govt consent?. I dont dispute the fact that president is supreme authority which is federal law. But did you ask yourself why Obasanjo regime approved blasphemy law adopted by at least 12 Northern states??.. You think Kano operates on its own?. There was a reason the law was passed. Let me tell you guy just one of the very reasons that I know to show you that your so called constitution doesn't recognize religion is a lie from pit of hell. Northern Sharia law was adopted to impede influence of christianity up north during 4th republic. In the Southwest, Christianity was funded by foreign govts from 1989 to year 2000 to end islam in nigeria. If you were old enough in the 90s to recognize series of events back then you should seen so many christian activities all over nigeria mainly SW, SE, SS. This agenda was supported by clergymen and political leadership (christians). They "captured" or "dominated" southwest with their propaganda at height of new democratic govt. In their manifesto (published by Christian Association Of Nigeria) they called for death of muslim leaders in Nigeria and around the world. So Northern state quickly adopted Sharia Law started by the then governor of Zamfara state Ahmed Sani Yerima. Despite having many muslims leaders in govt in the 90s like IBB, Abacha, Abubakr etc, none of them had any agenda against christianity. Why would christians publish a book filled with so much hate speeches?. By year 2000 they quickly removed the book from the public knowing that it could have legal consequences but it was too late. So it was around 1999, 2000 that Nigeria had a new democratic elected president Obasanjo that Abuja central church was built by state money. Obasanjo tasked all Nigeria states 100 million naira to build central church you see in Abuja today. Only two state refused. Lagos (Tinubu) and Abia (Orji Uzor Kalu). They claimed they were not christians. But all Northern sharia states contributed money towards church fundings. If constitution does not recognize religion how dare Obasanjo built or completed Church at the expense of Nigerian treasury?. But Abuja national mosque was built by donations. I repeat, Nigeria is not a secular country. It is secular country only on paper not practical. So stop saying Sharia law contradicts federal law. Sharia Law serves as customary law parallel to common law. State of Florida passed "Stand Your Ground Law" which is euphemism of jungle justice. But it is also in conflict with federal law. Isnt?. Go and beg Kano court, lawyers and governor and stop constituting nuisance online. |

Empiree:You keep displaying gross ignorance about the subject matter. 1) Kano State Government does NOT approval of the federal government to enact laws within their State. The Shari'ah laws were enacted by 12 Norther States during Obasanjo's first tenure. 2) These laws are inconsistent with the Constitution which forbid States from adopting any religion as an official religion. In reality, the enactment and adoption of Shari'ah laws by the 12 States mean these States have secceeded from Nigeria. 3) The constitutionality of these religious Laws have not been challeged in the court because of sentimental reasons. 4) The Constitution does NOT forbid individual citizens, including political Office holders from practicinging religions, so I don't know where you get your ideas that the constituency does not recognize religions. 5) The Musician should appeal the evil death sentence upto the supreme court. The Shari'ah is only for the poor and the Constitution is the supreme rule in Nigeria. |

You dont make sense like those that have been replying. oyatz:Let's see who is ignorant 1) Kano State Government does NOT approval of the federal government to enact laws within their State.Does this make sense to you?. You need to return to 1999 and read all over again. You think Kano would operate Sharia law alongside federal constitution without federal awareness?. If it is not recognized why did it exist for more than 20yrs without obstruction from legal practitioners? The Shari'ah laws were enacted by 12 Norther States during Obasanjo's first tenure.So?. So Sharia Law bypassed Obj, abi?. Your statement here just confirmed it was recognized by federal authorities in his regime. 2) These laws are inconsistent with the Constitution which forbid States from adopting any religion as an official religion.Go and challenge them. The same constitution that allowed Obasanjo regime to fund central church in Abuja is the same law that permitted Sharia. In reality, the enactment and adoption of Shari'ah laws by the 12 States mean these States have succeeded from Nigeria. This is where you messed up. If it means the 12 Northern states succeeded by virtue of adoption of Sharia law, then why are you guys crying over what doesn't concern you?. You have said these 12 state are not part of Nigeria but you are nigeria. So what's your business with them then?. Why are you condemning the law then? 3) The constitutionality of these religious Laws have not been challenged in the court because of sentimental reasons. Then, this is beyond you. Only solution is christian should also adopt biblical law from Old testament instead of yelling up and down. Are you a christian?. 4) The Constitution does NOT forbid individual citizens, including political Office holders from practicing in religions, so I don't know where you get your ideas that the constituency does not recognize religions. You are teaching me this?. Don't skip real issue. I dont have problem with this. You are the second person to say this while ignoring important point I raised. I said Obasanjo forced all Nigeria states to contribute 100 million naira to build Abuja central church. Is this not in violation of the same 1999 constitution you are defending?. By funding a church by federal govt it means govt recognized christianity. 5) The Musician should appeal the evil death sentence upto the supreme court. Now you're talking. This is what I have been pushing you guys to do but you are condemning the law itself. Anyways, the guy is already appealing his case. The Shari'ah is only for the poor and the Constitution is the supreme rule in Nigeria.Has Nigerian constitution ever persecuted govt officials since 1999?. Yet they have sent many poor people to jail. You see you just applied sentiment here too yet you said they could not challenge sharia law bcus of sentiment. All politicians accused of corruption have evaded justice from Nigerian constitution. So fact is both Constitution and Kano state penal code are for the poor. None have been effectively applied to corrupt politicians. This is why i said Nigeria is a joke. Note that Kano state sharia law is not Sharia that came with islam. Their sharia is "political sharia" not sharia of islam bcus it is not overall. My stance however is that, if govt passed a law, it is a law. Law is law that must be obeyed. Violator is punished. This is my position. If you live in advanced country and you violate the law, even if the law is stupid they will punish you for violating the law. This is why I gave you guys example of Florida state "Stand Your Ground Law".
