ASUU doesn't take part in elections. When lecturers take part in elections, he or she is not representing ASUU. FG need to do the right thing . If they aren't ready to fund education, they should increase school fees.

Increase school fees for those same lecturers to embezzle.
Last last we are still going round a circle. We all know how the average man in power behaves.

They have told FG the solutions ,but government didn't do it.
what they told FG is the problem, FG did not provide a solution so they decide to go on strike to force FG to provide the solution. They can use other means to get the solution. If you keep doing the same thing you get the same result.

Side hustle with a job that saps their mental and physical energy. Some teachers don't leave their classrooms until 5.30pm, but what good has that done them? They end up with 20k at the end of the month. I repeat ooo,: If you return to those slave camps you call office, you do not care about your own future.

Staying in school till 5:30... I think it's a choice... Government schools closes 2.. infact 2 is the closing time for all schools... What some schools now do is 2-4 lessons of which the school will share the money with the teachers... Also some teachers can decide to either do extra lessons to 5:30, of which they'd be the ones to collect the money all to themselves....

Theres a school I know...

For the 2-4, the school charges parents 5,000 per pupils in the class, so if the class has 20 pupils, it's be 5000 * 20, of which is a compulsory lesson and all pupils must pay... The school takes 2,500 and teacher takes 2,500, and this happens for all the classes in the school.. this 5000 is for the term.

Also some parents would want their wards to do extra lessons from 4-6, because of performance or work, and they pay the teachers, the school doesn't collect anything from the teachers on it except the teacher buys their own markers, biros and contribute for the cleaners and security who would wait till that time.

All these, and the school still pays salaries every Month.

This school is at magodo.

So don't compare a school in Ikorodu with that at magodo or Lekki...

My sister is a teacher who collects just the basic 20k salary for being in school till 5.30pm. No extra lesson fees, even though she teaches till 4pm - they call it extension classes. So she gets nothing extra at the end of the day. How can someone like that run a side hustle with what she's going through here in Ipaja. I have told her never to return to the yeye school when they resume. I bet that's the story of many other teachers on this forum. Some slave camps are even better than this piss.

Yes you are right... Some schools are terribly wicked... Teachers aren't even respected as if it's one omo ise profession.... Many teachers will not resume if their renumeration wasn't good... On the other hand, you won't blame some schools, their fees is nothing to write home about, as they don't collect good school fees... How can a school be collecting fees of 5,000- 10,000 and expect them to pay well, and government thieves will still come to tax them??

. Balderdash, but I believe everybody has his/her choice. You reason emotionally, and that has punctured you submission, try reasoning factually. You can not compare Nigeria's situation to Kenya's, because they chose to lock their schools till next year doesn't mean Nigeria should do same. And if am not mistaken, the ministry of education has already said a handful of ssce students who contracted the virus have been cured. So, what are you talking about? Many of you people are hypocrite, just because your means of income is not totally affected by this prolonged closure does not give you leave to tall down others. If FG gives resumption dates, you should stay in your room. At least in April when interstate lockdown was lifted, some person were giving analogy of Noah's ark and dove, you too can do same. You are still taking yourself round a circle. So how does increasing the school fees solve anything. The Same government that don't do anything naw will then do something when school fees are hiked.

We are Nigerians let's be realistic Biko..

Payment of salaries to lecturers and maintenance of infrastructural facilities. The wage bill alone will swallow the revenue generated from school fees of students. Since ASUU keep asking for increment in funding and improvement in their welfare, the government has no choice than to increase fees to meet up.

They should have done that long time ago @the bolded. Government grant loans to serious students that want to pursuit degree while others go learn IT and other skills. That is the more reason you see less people attending universities in many developed countries

Even if school fees are increased to a million we would still arrive at the same conclusion. It's sweet to analyze these things but those in power have a different motive, to enrich their pockets.
The government you are thinking doesn't have the money can find other sectors but education is a taboo to them.

God bless you. You understand the point.
He's only proffering solution the government would never do.
This so called ASUU will calm down when the time comes and will come back next year again with strike. ASUU and govt are the same.
