sisikemi23: Hello Sisikemi23, Who is your sponsor and what proof of valid residence status in Nigeria are you showing? In all honesty, it will be very difficult. Even those with valid jobs, family ties, investments, landed properties in Nigeria are still been delayed for HT. You can either work towards meeting one of these requirements. Bet yet, apply from the country you think your ties is stronger. All the best 1 Like |

Thanks for your response. A study permit application has been submitted already and a request for biometrics letter sent. What I want to know is if I can still hold off on going for the biometrics till I get a medical request so I can do the 2 at d same time Akannitommy: |

Vslayer: Hello Vslayer, The same POF that will be shown for a 1year program is the same for two. What is required for the subsequent year's study is a demonstration of the POF and how it would be readily available. If you decide to opt for a year's program, you can always go for a second prior to the completion of the first. All the best 1 Like |

gbadeolu1: With the exception of full tuition waivers, all fully funded PhD students are expected to pay tuition from their funding. The calculation of $1750 pm doesn't apply to you. Remove your tuition of $7000 from the funding and calculate the rest as your living expenses. This would amount to $14,000. That amount is still within the expected range. As for actually paying your tuition, most schools have the option of "deferring tuition" for award recipients. It works seamlessly and you'll be able to pay once the money is lodged in your student account by the department. For study permit application, simply attach your proof of funding and your personal statement of account (don't worry too much if you don't have a lot of money in it). You'll be just fine. 1 Like 1 Share |

Osemigho: Hello Osemigho, I don't think its self-serving reason been that their family situation (financially and composition) is adequately placed. Its just unfortunate that the VO applied such rigid discretion. Stay blessed bro |

Hello, I´m not sure how it was in the past but my profile has a slot for proof of means of financial support. There is nothing like applicant sponsor´s document on my profile. Osemigho: |

In addition to the responses you got, I´d like to add that you should believe in yourself and push yourself. You will be surprised what you will achieve. I have seen students with a lesser GPA get full or partial scholarships. Aim for thesis based programs if you can. You would need to reach out to supervisors before applying (for most thesis-based programs) Therefore, you need to work on your writing/communication skills. Use google to learn how to reach out to supervisors, there are many samples and tips. You might be lucky to find a supervisor willing to fund you. Finally, do a lot of research, look at all the Unis possible and funding available. Good luck jbreezy: 2 Likes |

Hello, you will need to pay your tuition fees. Otherwise, your admission might be cancelled and it might cause problems for you. Please reach out to the school for more information princejunaid: |

Osemigho: Hello Osemigho, It depends on how long in the past you're referring to. The column(s) has always been so as way back as 2010 except I am also missing something. I know you maybe adept to this but I will just state it anyway just for any referencing. The sponsor's POF should be merged with that of PA, same with other supporting documents in the Client Information column. Stay blessed bro 1 Like |

Hi jbreezy, just to add to the positive responses u have received, I was in your place sometime in February last year. I was a first class graduate in NYSC then with zero information about scholarships and immigration. Today, I have a fully funded MSc scholarship at University of British Columbia. I didn't spend a dime. jbreezy: 6 Likes |

MadeMan01: The visa officer is reviewing your ELIGIBILITY for study permit as well as the CBSA are currently running a background check on your file in order to ascertain that you won't be a threat to the citizens of Canada and her residents should your visa is granted by way of sharing information with other countries and scrutinizing your criminal records etc. Background checks is the time consuming stage of an immigration application to Canada, whilst Review of ELIGIBILITY can be completed in a matter of hours, days or weeks. In all, no one can tell how long your application process would take at the Nairobi Visa Office. At this present time, you should keep faith and exercise a good sense of optimism until the final decision is communicated to you. Again, you may request for your GCMS notes if your application is 10 weeks and above so as to obtain a clearer insight on the current status of your application. It will end in praise 3 Likes |

heidepaper: You can't determine the length of your study permit. Simply input the start and end dates for your program. IRCC will determine how long your permit would last. Study permits can always be extended from inside Canada so you shouldn't worry about that. 1 Like |

Ikechi17: Please be advised that the minimum requirement for a master's admission in Canada is 2.1. If you had this grade during your undergraduate studies, a masters in public health would be your best bet in securing a study permit. You may seek admission in the below shortlisted schools. 1. University of Saskatchewan 2. Brock University 3. University of Western Ontario etc. I wish you the very best on your application. It will end in praise |

femmaleye: A bonafide student with a B.Eng qualification in Mechanical Engineering should go for a degree that is higher than his already completed degree which is a Master's degree or PGD depending on your undergraduate GPA. Please be properly guided that a two year ordinary diploma will dramatically decrease your chances of convincing a Visa officer that you're indeed a genuine applicant who will leave Canada after studies. In restropect to your suggestion about creating a WhatsApp group while this thread is continuously serving its purpose is totally not acceptable as this platform has been in existence for more than a decade and has tremendously changed a lot of students lives in a very positive way. As a consequence, you can always feel free to ask your questions here and it will be attended to by some of the knowlegable group members. It will end in praise. |

Ikechi17: Congratulations on your upcoming nysc graduation. It is advisable to pursue a course related to your bsc, a masters or PGD in public health is fine. Doing a second degree in nursing is not a good idea, why? How do u defend the gap from after your waec and now. Also canada dont offer nursing to international students, rather pre-nursing but you must meet up with the credit requirements before you can proceed to nursing. The Atlantic province is awesome abs beautiful. Sorry about your loss but I can tell you authoritatively, his loss won't affect your application. Your mum or elder siblings can stand in as your sponsor. |

Good morning, Thanks for your replies guys i’m really grateful. @JustMellow I think I don’t have to show any proof of valid residence status here because i’m Half Nigerian. My sponsor is an uncle that has been sponsoring my education for years. I also got a partial scholarship from the school i applied to. I have a landed property here in my name but do I need to value the property or just present its documents? JustMellow: |
