Should I Engage Him...? by Blackmann001: 10:18am On Sep 05, 2020
...I am a new entrepreneur. I am kinda gifted in idea creation for Bizness, so I set up this small firm.....currently its still a one mam show. But I know I will later need educated and reasonable personnel to man some positions later....now here is the dilemma.

I have an aquiantant, an older guy who fits perfectly for the position,he is married with two kids without a job,his wife runs the family from a small Biz center she manages. The guy is enlightened and outspoken..he fits my choice he is Also very ambitious to make things right for his family..

If I engage any one by employment, I would pay fairly well for the position, but all my trade secret will b exposed to such persons,my fear is dt this Biz is rare one in town, and could fetch me about 12million in 12 months, I don't need a rival yet as I fear,if I employ him....he will capitalize on my good pay and his new knowledge about what I do as is common in naija and break away to become a rival, even when am not balanced yet......

He stalks me now for the space. And I will need such employee in about 4weeks.

Should I engage him..?

Note:Two heads are better than one but that same head that came to pair might also come to fall you so all I can advice you is that you should not disclose the Business secrets to the person...

All business have its secret and since you've been on this bizness then you should know about it...

I think I made some suggestions but try to hear from others

Thanks

There is no way one wouldn't know dt secret if one is intelligent and man that position.....

Someone said i shouldn't pay well so that funds to rival wouldn't b easy to generate..

You better don't waste time in indicision. If you think your business plan is secret to you, then, don't be surprised when you see total stranger already executing your ideas elsewhere. I will advise you to make a legal contract between you and him and make sure it is bond to the business incase of foul play in future. Nevertheless, life is all about "you chop and make I chop" .

Yah don't pay him much so he won't be much interested in the biz and sometimes act like no much success...

Don't Flaunt

My man if you know you want to go far don't tell him the secrets of ur business, tell him only if you really trust him .Let me give you an example

You own a restaurant, and ur meals are always delicious thanks to a secret recipe you own. It's because of this recipe u attract more customers.

Now you employed me ,yes me and showed me the secret recipe,
Do you know what I will do, I will work with you for some time and boom! I quit, yes I will quit working for you.

The little money I gathered while working for you ,i will use to open my own shop and I will become ur rivalry..

So my man trade with caution okay, even tho he knows the secret one still needs the grace of God to flourish in any business.

Or better still make a legal contract with him ,that will make him not to use ur secret

You are already seeing the signs, don't ignore your instincts. Except maybe you could get a trusted person for that particular position probably a family member, childhood friend or your wife, someone loyal. It's a dog eat dog society and a mere acquaintance wouldn't hesistate to throw you under the bus when push comes to shove.

Enter into a non-disclosure agreement with him and an agreement that will stop him from starting a similar business in Nigeria. Get a lawyer for the process.

OP.. if you have a family member you can trust oo..you can work with him or her,but even if you enter an agreement with the man of non disclosure remember that this is Nigeria.. so family is better or better still you can get a boy boy or a girl girl..if the job does not require certificate

I will advice u not to engage him now but nothing last forever now that u just conceive the idea make money out of it before people discover before that u should have enough to venture into any business like innoson did.. Is something u can't do by yourself
