Hello nlanders, I've been an active member of this platform, I had to create this new account for the sole purpose of this thread.

This evening, i tried working on my laptop but noticed all my files has been corrupted, both images and videos files weren't opening.

Please who can help me rectify what just happened to my files

Always backup ur files...

True, I never felt the need to back up my files.

Try to install a strong antivirus and scan your system with it.

Boss. Antivirus also cause these sheet. My laptop started working properly since I removed all antivirus I had. And that's more than two years aiidy.

Windows defender rocks..

Most times, antivirus service slows down Pc performance.

All my files are gone each file has the .Ksap as an extension, don't know what it means though.

I've learnt my lesson the hard way , henceforth, I will never fail to backup my files.

Ransomeware virus.... Give your computer to someone who knows what they are doing and they will sort your laptop out.

Kind of virus that comes from porn sites. Mind the kind of exe files u download and install. If u want to watch porn, watch it on web, do not download anything. However, windows defender is just good

Right click one of the video file and select open with
Then select a video player..

Eiyah OP. I can feel your pain. And funniest part of this that I don't even hv a backup of my own files coz I find it playing too safe. Na that risky living I like.

Download "malwarebyte", click on the full scanning option the virus will be separated from your file and everything will go back to how it was, you can also choose to delete the virus permanently instead of storing it in the quarantine.

Download data recovery wizard and scan ur system with it to recover ur file...

a lot of sites infect a computer just by you viewing the site.

Can hardly corrupt files in a disk without you installing anything. By viewing websites you can only get a coocky like virus that pops ads etc. The kind of virus that edit files must be directly or indirectly installed.
