Few days ago, someone ( Mistakemaker) created a thread to ask "What's Exactly Stopping Nigeria From Having 24/7 Electricity? "
See here: https://www.nairaland.com/6100821/whats-exactly-stopping-nigeria-having

A lot of people gave series of replies, majority were excuses, some borne out of ignorance and others were to cover governments ineptude. We can't pin this only on PMB, even though he is part of past and present leaders that failed us.

But what many of those commenters may not know is that some Churches in Nigeria actually experience 247 power supply.

One in particular is Winners Chapel in Sango Ota. This is not hersey but something I experience. Their power source have NEVER gone off since I came to this Local Government. A few months ago, It was read on nairaland that they also planning another one in order to power the Canaan City Project that will house over 2000 housing units.

I also learned that RCCG is building 25MW power plant.

Now, the question I have in mind since thinking about this is, IF these churches can make this happen, why can;t the country in which they are able to achieve this, make it possible for all her citizens?

I remember discussing this with a friend and he gave me series of excuse. I told him to explain why Canaan Land can have constant power supply but Nigeria as whole does not have..,

I am not seeking to make front page (though, it would be good so that we can have a wider view), but my knowledge of these things is rusty and I will like to know.

... because these churches have defrauded so many people via tithes that they can afford to turn on their gen 24/7 (or buy Bentley and private jets) or simply build their own power plant.

$16B was spent on electricity in this nation during OBJ regime till date we did not see the impact...

Corruption is the reason we are still where we are today and the earlier we fight it in all strata of our nation regardless of whose toe one step on the better for our development as a nation.

Corruption is a monstrous cancer that has eating deep into our nation...

Iranu.
What about your governments that's defrauded her citizens via tax, VAT, stamp duty, exise duty, profit gain tax, company tax, etc.
What have they done for you? rather than fainting if we ask them to make an account of the money

You don't get it. It is not generator like the ones that Nigerians use that where there is no power supply.

They actually generate their own electricity and IT IS CONSTANT. The question is, how do they constantly generate this power and Nigeria can not do same?

If every Nigerians could receive free money then THEY would also build their own power plants. Sadly, Nigerians are brainless donkeys when it comes to religion... so they have no problems with giving their money to a church so that this establishment can have constant electricity/Bentleys and private jets, while they live a miserable life without electricity/job or even food.

The only person that should be blamed here are NIGERIANS themselves.

Those that will let you have 24/7 electricity Has Gas plant and petrols and they sell generators.

How do you think they'll sell if you're given 24/7 light.

Really sad.

The Church is the people. Is it the Pastors and General Overseer that work in Cannan City?

Please, is there any Church that forces the members to pay tithe?

What are the penalty for not paying these so-called "mandatory tithe"

Members are not complaining while riffraff on the net are gossiping on what they have or made no contribution.

If you people have nothing to say then just be quiet and move along....Again, the OP asked why these churches can afford free electricity.... So STICK TO THE ISSUE because the gov has no hand in that question and/or will change.

I made reference to Canaan land success story in my contribution in that thread.

The problem is something called the national grid. Any power generated in this country above a certain MW (possibly 100 but I'm not sure) must be fed into the national grid and redistributed across the nation.
I'm sure power generated in Canaan land is below the limit, so they get to keep their energy.
The way forward is this....
Let power generation be completely removed from the exclusive list n fully decentralised- this include generation, transmission, n distribution.
Let there be full private participation in all sectors of power n PPP should be encouraged.
Regions that need electricity to power their industrial drive n manufacturing capability should be allowed to forge ahead. Regions/states that prefer darkness can continue with the national grid.
That's the answer to electricity problem in this country n not the utopia talk of 24/7 electricity for all Nigerians.

While these people remain in the DARK wth no electricity at home, and still living miserable lives?!?!?! How did these fraudsters in robe better these people lives when buying Bentley and private jets?!?!?!

Yes it is indeed flourishing while the brainless people who follows them remain in their miserable lives...

The world will come to the church and learn the principles of kingdom prosperity.

What's that? To defraud miserable people while a few bastard rape children while buying Bentleys and private jets?!

The government have all the money but the little the church has, has been blessed by God and the results far exceeds what the government can do.

The gov and the church are the same.... Each and every people under both of these bastard institutions are miserable and suffering, while the people at the top are using these people's money to enrich themselves with Bentleys and private jets.
Gov and church is the same CON.

The church has the Best universities and high schools.

Who cares?! These schools ain't free... So these bastard institutions are just enriching themselves on the back of the miserable people.

The world took over the media, the church have built their own media houses.

Media house to promote their con and enslave more miserable brainless people...yes they have!

Jay, you have not seen anything. The devil will cry at the explosive prosperity of the church.

The devil is these evil churches that are using these religious books to enslave and defraud people for centuries. Idon't blame these fraudsters in robe, I blame the useless donkeys who fall for their con.

I believe I heard that one of the church villages, the people there pay something around the region of 70 naira per kWh

Average disco fees until recently were below 30 naira per kWh

Cost of production of one kWh 53 naira

You do the math

The way to go is to divide the power generation, transmission and distribution into smaller units like our local government than lumping them into one national grid that is both expensive and hard to build and maintain.

You can't have a solution without focussing on the MAIN PROBLEM...aka brainless people who vote bastards in power, then give all their money to some bastard in robe expecting some invisible being in the sky to solve their miserable lives

Main problem with power in this country is simple

We pay for power at a price that until recently was below the cost of production

Imagine you are a baker, and it costs you 200 naira to bake a loaf of bread, but government comes in and insists you sell it at 100 naira per loaf, instead of the 250 you wanted to sell it

How will you make a profit to pay your workers, buy ingredients and pay taxes, etc?

We were producing power at 53 naira per kWh, and selling it at 30 naira per kWh. And we expect the sector to make a profit ?

Oga you are just looking for a way to drag the church into the mud. Is it only them that have steady electricity? Go to the houses of politicians ,past presidents and former head of states. You can even visit wealthy neighborhoods in Lagos and Abuja if you like. They all have steady electricity. All government houses and estates have steady electricity. Even Aso rock is not excluded. But yet instead of you to ask your president why he has steady electricity and you don't, you choose to drag the church into your confusion. What's exactly your problem?

As much as I don't support pastors milking their members of their hard earned money, seeing Churches achieve a lot of things Our elected leaders can't do for the country is thought provoking.

Come to think of it, the government has far more money than all the Churches put together, but it hasn't been able to generate 2% of the electricity need of the citizens.

All I can say is that, it's a deliberate act to to keep the country in darkness for their selfish interests
