Thanks Omopapa.

But I cannot work with an agency as a cleaner in a hostel? or as a retail assistant at Aldi?
You can if the jobs are on the SOC list.

A mech engineer can always switch careers so that absolutely fine. That a nigerian thing to think you are somewhat tied forever to your education background..... if you now in the tech field then you target on how to write your resume well within that field and market yourself well

How life will turn out nobody can predict. Both countries have opportunities and have their own challenges as well..... A good job in canada is not that easy as well....so don't be fooled wink It still boils down to how you sell and package yourself regardless of which country . But bottomline nobody can predict .... so choose any country that has to be a personal choice as well taking everything into consideration. Learn how to package yourself and tailor it to how that country does it and then aim or try and hope for the best .

No title. It's more like an essay. You can google personal statements samples

If you love your woman, please join her. There's a lot of opportunities in UK on IT if you are good at it. UK is a place you can hit the ground running if you have legal entrant. Canada is also good but requires longer timing to get settled but easier to have your papers. Immigration rules is changing and still changing in UK. Distance relationship is not the best, you need each others strength to weather initial stress that comes with relocation, stay together build together.

Best wishes

Hi guys, i'm just joining the thread and i suppose some members here live in the UK. Please im in a dilenma right now. I need advice:

I'm getting married to my fiance soon and of course interested to leave with her.
She's a nurse....processing her papers to migrate to the UK.

I, on the other hand, mechanical engineer but since graduation, I've been in the tech space...dealing with digital marketing projects, wordpress (website) and graphic design projects. Eventually, developed two startups. One is a digital marketing startup. The other is a partnership. Also, I'm currently rounding up my online masters with University of South Wales btw

My issue is...if i move with my fiance after marriage, what am i chances in the UK (She's a nurse)

Additionally, I have an option to move to Canada as well but its for schooling....meaning I'd be dependent for a while.
I personally have made researches and Nigerians rate Canada more than the UK when it comes to the opportunities for immigrants. I want to know if this is really significant to consider in this my situation because my fiance is not entirely keen on moving to canada cos their nursing registration process is more rigorous as she might also have to do some courses before working!

Unless i move to canada and she moves to Uk and we maybe link up later. I dont know how thats meant to work! Please help clarify life and career opportunities in the UK for someone with my track record. That might help me make a decision. Thanks guys

I think you would be a good candidate for the tech nation visa.. or the start-up visa..do more research on google for this
Your wife-to-be as a nurse will always get a job either in UK or Canada.. so it's you that needs to decide where you will settle and check which of the two countries have more opportunities for IT or engineering.. whichever you decide to use
which is why I started off with those visaas that would allow you to come over with a Tier-2 visa..
however, it might be too much of a financial burden for both of you to be migrating through tier-2 after wedding and other expenses
so do your research, tabulate the expected costs for each route and then pick the one most suitable to your situation..
hope this helps

Hello my people, Kindly assist to clarify my issue. will schooling in any of the Russel group of schools would give a brighter chance of getting job after schooling. I have applied for an MSc in 2 UK universities though I'm still expecting their feedback but I'm being tempted to apply to Queen University Belfast being a member of Russel group of schools. However, the course fees are on the high side compared to others 2 but I'm now confused on the next step if the higher fees could justify it at the end. Though, I'm always ready for any challenge wherever I find myself but skeptical on what the future hold as regard getting job within 2 years allotted time for Post Study Work Visa.

Thank you.

Hello Fam, as regards this, I also need clarification. On tier 2 visa with experience in tailoring and catering, if I choose to do either as side hustle
1. Please how do I go about it?

2. Will I have to declare it in anyway?

3. Will I have to pay tax

PS: side hustle on low scale which can be done in the house.

Thanks

TIER-2 VISA ADVICE NEEDED - Taking a second Job
Hello country people.

The screenshot below refers.

Does this mean that if I get a tier-2 CoS to work in the NHS (a nurse) for example, I cannot take a second, weekend evening job to work as a pizza maker in Dominoes? Or I cannot have a side-job to work as a bartender at Wetherspoons?

Does it mean if I am to take a second side hustle, It must be as a Nurse, or in any of the 'shortage occupation' jobs?

Please folks with experience, help.

My Brother *3 !!!

Choose an affordable school go do your Msc. In this country experience is more important than your degree. ..... Even people with more experience are loosing their jobs in the UK so I don’t see where Russel group of schools would take you. ..... On a personal note: my degree and masters in engineering didn’t get me a job in oil and gas after graduation. But after a year or 2 of work experience I got lucky and landed good job.....So get your Msc and build your work experience that’s your sure root up the ladder...
Good luck

Yes UK NARIC statement of Comparability test is required if ur degree is from abroad. It will help to equate it to the U.K. standard

Assessment fee is different, it is not refundable and it is what u pay to have ur degree assessed

HCPC is the main organisation and they are the ones responsible for the registration, u have to be HCPC registered to work as a Biomedical Scientist in the U.K.

IBMS is the institute that directs you on the path to take to become HCPC registered. they can help assess ur degree and point out the necessary topups that needs doing before going to HCPC to register

Thanks again Omopapa... so do I start from the NARIC first then IBMS scrutiny before the main HCPC registration? what's the order
Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by omopapa: 2:29pm On Sep 09, 2020
IBMS AND U.K. NARIC can go simultaneously them HCPC

British graduates from the Russel group are prioritised over international graduates with no british work experience. However, in a licensed regulated healthcare profession, the university you studied in doesn't matter, as you will have the exact same license to practice as the guy who studied in Cambridge/Oxford and you will be treated as such.

Hello Fam.

Please can someone remind me how to get COVID tested with certificate? A family member needs it ASAP to travel to Naija.

Thank you.

We used a private test I saw posted here for £150.......however on getting to the airport. We saw the free NHS one was accepted. Many people were just bringing their phones to show the test result . Asked a couple of people and yes it was the free NHS covid test so check for the testing centre closest to who is travelling . The test result usually comes out in 24hours both for private and NHS

On getting to naija ... naija government is charging arriving passengers 51,000 naira to do another test in nigeria angry so hold your naira

Cc Lexusgs430 but this week they stopped the 51k at the airport. Instead you pay online. No more cash payment
