The issue is, most graduates including the PhD holders are not creating jobs by solving problems. They just want to go to school, pass exams and 'look' for jobs.

Nigerian graduates should think of what they can do for Nigeria or humanity and not what Nigeria/humanity can do for them.

unfortunately anyone who lacks basic needs like feeding, clothes and shelter in an enabling enviroment would only sort himself first before thinking of doing anything for Nigeria or humanity. majority of our youths still struggling for life. there is hunger in the land and creative thinking had been impaired , immorality and criminality, corruption is the other of the day in this corntree (country). This is the situation of most graduate now, but nevertheless we go move!!

Apart from high schools leavers, the more educated you are the better your prospects for a job or starting your own business.

Education is not a ticket to a job but a ticket to expand your horizon.

Do not get carried away with Nigerian chest beaters contesting which ethic group has a job abroad. Even some white Europeans and Americans are underemployed.

It is worse for Black graduates in the Ivy League colleges, when after interviews with big corporations, most of those left without jobs are Blacks like you. Only a token few are offered jobs and they never last on those jobs either.

The good news is, the most successful graduates in Nigeria or outside are those into business. They do not beat their chests, mugus and losers do that for them.

Going to school is just for enlightening. Wealth creation belongs to your mindset. Whether school or not, people with "Street wisdom" can never go hungry. Open your mind and you won't lack. That "dirty" work can fetch you millions if you don't know. Most people don't even know there's serious money owning and operating ordinary bàbà Ìjẹ̀bú terminal alone? I know YOU can't do that because you're a graduate. Dey wait for oil job, you hear?

All what it takes is mindset bro. Read books that will open your mind.. That salary of 500k you are dreaming of is something you can actually create yourself.. Wealth is about the kind of problem you are solving and time.

It isn't all about good certificates. We will get it right someday.

I've found my ground and very okay, on the bolded, the job market now is about value and skill and not just the certificate.

You are correct. But at PhD level, you are expected to have some skill. However, I dont know if it is the same with PhD graduates in Nigeria.

A PhD holder should be able to find solution to a problem, but in Nigeria, it's like an academic exercise.
You cannot get solution to a problem that affects mankind and still be searching for job, it's impossible.

Rubbish because na only school u fii get educated.

School no be scam if you know how to use your degree and education is not about school, you can get education from anywhere even from a person that doesn't even go to school, even from a animal self. Open your dictionary and check the meaning of education.

I hear you..... sooo many with degrees but no education. I strongly believe people need to reset their minds since schooling as we know it will no longer be the same ... it is being reset to carry out the COVID-19 agenda. I'm almost sure in 6months time unemployment will be twice as worse as is today. We need to think self employment.... and in the services sector.

Wahala dey o, I remember how some of my lecturers advice me to put in for Masters immediately after NYSC, there reason is that i could secure lecturing job, then afterwards enrol for Ph.d. My worry was that, I've not put my undergraduate knowledge into use, but to them, it's about getting the JOB.
This is the mentality of most lecturers doning our citadel of learning, it also explain why graduates are often running after getting job.

With this your grammar, I don't think you are a graduate

have said , and will continue to say it that , about 98% of candidates who later enrolled for Master's degree in Nigeria, does because of prefencial consideration in job market, not because thet genuinely interested in doing it

I agree with you but I have some reservations. Your statement makes "contribution to knowledge" to be VERY VERY BIG.

Damn. You gotta learn a skill bro. Any skill you can learn will really go a long way in making you valuable. I was once in your shoes, earning peanuts but as I decided to learn programming it really helped me. Although I'm still earning peanuts but peanuts get level. My own nah peanut burger now (150k per website).

Hmm since the day I experienced how third class and second class lower candidates were picked against Distinction candidates for employment due to link/connections with big politicians in Nigeria.

E shock me. My fellow nairalanders I gave up on Nigeria.

It is what it is, Connections will get you a slot faster than a paper degree.

Stay woke !
