What do we expect in a country where majority want to become an employee. Only few think straight to create job and solve demand of money for themselves...majority chose to follow an existing lead instead to create a new lead and because if this useless believe there's no chance for any syndrome that will stimulate the sense of creativity of today youth as majority of them are wallowing in their such Goddamn outdated method.

If you can't even source for capital, what makes you think you could make 100k monthly?

Continue dey clean that bank floor, maybe you go help them detect criminal one day.
I don't know about your area, Nigeria right now has gotten to a point where if you ask 20 people for just N5k, the chances of succeeding is near zero. Why? Many are just struggling with loads of responsibilities. If you are fortunate to be the only employed earner among your folks, remember you are not just carrying your load alone, to some extent you are carrying those of others.
The ugly side to this spate of joblessness is the fact that it wears heavily on the purchasing ability of everyone, the little left for you, and the little you are able to give out to others will not be substantial enough to meet the cost of any tangle item - living from hand to mouth - a cyclical circle cheesy
My guy has 5 of his siblings who have graduated without a job. He said most times, he is not able to wait for them to ask before giving some assistance - is it transport fare to attend interviews - or for some kits as little as toothpaste/brush! You see them hustling everyday - but nothing. Anyone taking his laptop to fix is held by ignorant police who think possessing a laptop turns you into an automatic yahoo. Now you have to pay hugely to bail yourself or wait at your own risk to get justice that will never come. Who pays to bail? Still the employed brother. Nigeria is simply hard. It is a near impossible country!

Guy this is not funny. What is the population of New Zealand, its just about or around 6m. Unemployed figure in Nigeria is higher than that. Israel at less than 10m, is still less than unemployment figure here. Meanwhile those are advanced nations not to talk of countries in Europe. We have an army of unemployed capable of dwarfing the population of a number of countries around the world.
While it might be an asset to the polity it is at the same time a time-bomb. Have you asked yourself what if things don't change for the better going forward, what will give? That is a million-dollar question laden with anxious expectations! Pathetic really embarassed
Time bomb indeed!
With our population Nigeria is this close to being a failed state.
If things don't start changing for the better, omo the future is bleak o.

Skills trump degrees, any day, anytime!

It is expected that with your advanced degree, you should learn or hone industry-relevant skills, supposing a job is your end game. In fact, if you've planned it out right, you should even be an employer of labor/top consultant following a PhD for instance.

But... My people won't hear. That advanced degree, except it can be directly translated into measurable value, is WORTHLESS, even in academia. Faculty openings are reducing by the minute, going by the current statistics. At best, it's a new line on your resume. Shikena!

I usually wonder why there's so much fuss about bagging advanced degrees, with no emphasis on the employment landscape.

No, a lucrative job is not waiting for you after your PhD. Not even in consulting. It's a harsh world out there. Plan ahead.

We are moving from certificates to skills now. Check current job openings and they are always filled with required skills. It's scary.

The problem is everybody is looking for jobs while little are creating jobs ....

Must a PhD holder work for someone or in a school ..... Must you go to school to work for someone ....

The day we realise education is not meant for working for someone is the day there will be more jobs and foreigners will also come to Nigeria to seek greener pastures ...

Education is meant to seek knowledge to liberate the brain into doing greater things in life!!

Education is a job training, not a magic bullet—something Nigerian government has failed to communicate to the public before every Nigerian begins to acquire all the education.

In Nigeria, students graduate from schools with absolutely no job experience and expect to get hired. No, it is not going to happen. It is happening in Europe, North America, and Asian countries.

In Europe, North America and most Asian nations, people get jobs soon after they graduate from schools because they have existed private sector businesses that offer students opportunities to work when they are students and gain job skills. In Nigeria, such opportunities do not exist.

And here is why

Nigerian government does not have a national policy on restaurants, clothing stores, groceries stores, shoes stores, barber shop, etc.

At the heart of the problem is tribalism. Every tribe you go to, people there have their own foods, dressing code, customs, and so on. That makes it difficult for Nigerians who graduate from schools to obtain jobs skills that they can transfer. It also makes it difficult for jobs to be created in a large scale to hire school graduates.

Solution
Nigerian government should propose and pass a national policy on restaurant busines, clothing stores, barber shops, shoes stores, convenient stores business. All tribal restaurants and associate business should be shut down. This will allow Nigerian to work in any business and transfer skills gained to other business.

Education is job training. Try to get a job while you are a student to gain job skills. Do not wait until after school graduation to look for job to acquire skills. That way you don’t start at the bottom or sit too long to find a job.

Such a complete waste of money to spend any time or money on a degree in Nigeria. It’s only to please the family because it’s basically a worthless piece of paper in the end.

NYSC is also a joke, a sham and a waste of time.

I don't value Nigerian degrees! Nigerian Universities churn out either half-baked graduates or illiterate ones!

Nigerian education system is gradually collapsing. Go to hospitals, you'll see how dangerous it is to have quack doctors and nurses everywhere!

This your solution is not easy o, I wonder what restaurant did to you to deserve this. Will closing down restaurants & having a "national policy" on those sectors generate employment for the teeming millions? I need to understand the rationale behind your solution

You are describing what I'm experiencing bro. You will be surprised that even those who are supposed to know better are too mentally poor and blind to know that people can make money without going to an office or opening a shop. As far as these mentally blind people are concerned, anyone using a laptop or working from home is a scammer.

Has anyone called you a scammer because it's very wrong to make argument on behalf of others if no one has ever called you a scammer. We all know too well online scammers far outnumbered genuine online hustlers, that's like ratio 20:1

I have a PhD in Economics, but I work as a marketer in a commercial Bank where your certificate really don't mean anything.
Hopefully by first quarter of next year, I will resign and look for something else to do. The banking system just dulls one.
U can see even d job u do,u can still do it well as a waec holder.....and they will be calling u a doctor u supposed to be made a bank branch manager or regional manager... certificate is a scam.
Where is that fellow that threaten to burn his useless degree certificate
