El-rufai: Online Petition For EU, UK Travel Ban Nears 25,000 Signatures Target by Naijatask: 2:37pm On Sep 17, 2020
An online petition calling on the United Kingdom and the European Union to place a travel ban on Kaduna State governor Nasir El-rufai has passed 22,000 signatures of the targetted 25,000 signatures.

The petition on change.org seeks the UK and UN action against El-rufai for allegedly promoting genocide and religious and political intolerance.

“Nasir El-Rufai is a threat to the peace and security of Nigeria for many reasons,” Reno Omokri, a former Presidential aide, who started the petition said.

“There has been an intense escalation of the killings of mostly Christians in Kaduna, and on August 25, 2020, suspected herdsmen abducted seven schoolchildren and their teacher from Prince Academy, in Kaduna. They have not been seen or heard of since then,” Omokri said.

The petition further reads: “On February 6, 2019, he threatened foreign observers, including observers from the EU and UK with death, warning that they would return in body bags should they intervene in Nigeria.

“On July 15, 2012, Nasir El-Rufai said, and I quote ‘We will write this for all to read. Anyone, soldier or not that kills the Fulani takes a loan repayable one day no matter how long it takes.’ This threat has been carried out in Southern Kaduna where there is an ongoing genocide of Christians under el-Rufai’s watch.”

Earlier in the week, the United Kingdom said it will seize assets and impose visa restriction on individuals that are caught rigging during the Edo and Ondo State governorship elections.

“As a friend and partner of Nigeria we are closely following the lead up to the off-cycle governorship elections in Edo and Ondo states scheduled for September 19 and October 10 respectively,” the British High Commission in Nigeria said in a statement.

“The UK takes a strong stand against election-related violence and, just as we did in the general election in 2019, will continue to take action against individuals we identify as being responsible for violence during the elections.

“This could include restrictions on their eligibility to travel to the UK, restrictions on access to UK based assets or prosecution under international law.”

The threat by the UK came a day after the United States said it has imposed a visa ban on some Nigerians culpable for rigging during the Kogi and Bayelsa State governorship elections in 2019.

The US in a statement by the secretary of state Mike Pompeo said the individuals have so far operated with impunity at the expense of the Nigerian people and have undermined democratic principles in Nigeria.

The UK said the Edo and Ondo State governorship elections are important, both as an essential element of effective governance within both states and an indicator of the strength of Nigeria’s democratic institutions.

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) had last month invited El-Rufai to speak at its annual general conference but the association later withdrew the invitation amid several petitions against his invitation.

The governor has been accused of mismanaging the diversity of Kaduna State which has led to the killings of hundreds of persons mostly in Southern Kaduna.

Gov. Elrufai one of the best governor in Nigeria who increased the IGR of Kaduna State from N13bn in 2015 to N44bn in 2019. He implemented the TSA to block leakages in addition to LG autonomy.

Kaduna is the number one in terms of ease of doing business. In Kaduna, governance is open & projects can be monitored. All these aren’t coincidence!

Elrufai is busy developing his state... While some lazy bigots are busy signing petition against him.

Kaduna is developing

NBA is already dead!

They are already regretting their action.

But they have succeeded in killing and dividing the union.

Let the southerners enjoy their union there!

Before 5:30pm, it must have surpassed 25,000 votes. Nigerians of all tribes and tongues are signing in milliseconds.
I think a strong warning is being sent to Nigeria politicians of Mallam El Rufai calibre, only if they will understand and
amend their callous ways.
I felt so bad about this because I used to like Malam El Rafiu strong leadership quality but after watching him on television admits
that he has not visited Southern kaduna since the ethnic cleansing started but travel all over the country for political rallies and meeting;
I felt so disappointed about him. I did not sign the petition all the same.

It is a pity Lord Lugard brought this calamity called Nigeria where I have to share a nationality with such people as you.

So, in your estimation, one should keep quiet and watch you people killed in droves? Or when has killings been synonymous with development? When it comes to development, I praise the ones who got it right and knock those who do not. Check my posts.

Please, life is very precious and so let's preserve it.

El has not done well and of course, h doesn't hide his feelings when it comes to that, he provides body bags and pay killers to stop. I hope these too are developments?

why didn't you Blame Ortom when innocent people were being killed in Benue??

Why didn't you blame Jonathan when he was the president about the killing of Christian in southern kaduna and Benue?

Your hatred for Elrufai is just for the fact that he is a Fulani man and a Muslim.

Your hatred for elrufai is making him more popular in the north.

And he will one day rule this country.

You bigots might be the majority online but we are the majority in where it actually matters...

how I wish all these things count, and leaders can be held responsible for the miss doing, but sadly nothing happens, the thieves keep stealing, the corrupt keeps corrupting, the jihadists keeps jihading.

well one good thing is nothing lasts for ever, the pharoahs of Egypt had their time and it passed, the Roman era also passed, Alexander the great came and passed, so shall these our poli-thief-ians pass
