Good day!

I applied for my study permit on the 1st of September and received a refusal on the 14th of September (without doing biometrics yet). The reason given was:

"I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in
subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on the purpose of your visit."

I have admission for a 2 year program starting in the Winter term and have paid my first term fees. My first degree and course chosen for PGD are in the same industry but i suspect the issue might be from my SOP as everything else seems to be in place.

Please advise. Thank you

If its from your sop, the vo will say your sop is vague though still possible that you failed to explain the linkage between your bsc and intended course. Also is the course PGD or diploma. On your immm forms, did you select diploma as against college certificate ?

Hello Guys,

I applied for Canadian study permit on the 14th of September and got a correspondence on the !7th from the high commission in Kenya refusing me one with the following reasons ( see attachment ).
How do I go about resolving this ? I am yet to do biometrics

What course are your going for and is it related to your experience or bsc. What level of program also.

Who is your sponsor ?

Please focus on colleges PGD programs. You won't get a masters admission with a HND

Thanks for your response. Masters is not the focus now. What I applied for is B. Eng program. Normally lakehead accepts canadian college engineering technology program to year 3 of B. Eng program but failed to recognise an international certificate. Are there other schools in Canada running such programmes. Its like a two years HND to B. Eng program.

On the PGD, please let me know school accepting HND for PGds. That may help out as well. Is PGD certificate holder eligible to register with their provincial engineering body as an Engineer.

Thank you so much for your help and time

Good morning Ma'am, please can I send a pm? I need to ask some questions about UBC.
Canhopeful:
Hello Frankrobbn1, JustMellow, Osemigho, and Fratermathy! Please, I need your advice.

1) We applied for a study permit and an open work permit on February 19, 2020, passed upfront medicals on March 10. Eligibility review and background checks commenced the same day.

I received my GCMS notes on Friday, September 15. Therein, I saw a note written on 11th March. The officer stated, "Female married to study for Masters at UBC. Her personal funds and income are low. Spouse to accompany her on an open WP."

2) The uni offered to pay my tuition for 2 years and also give me a stipend a little over $24,000/year for 2 years.

3) I attached 2 bank statements to my Study Permit application. One for me with 1.5 million naira and another for my husband with 2.5 million. I didn't attach any to my hubby's application for an open work permit. But we stated the total amount- 4million naira plus the total scholarship amount- in both our letters of explanation or SoPs.

4) I am a university lecturer (the reason for the low income haha) and my spouse is a clergyman.

5) When I filled the part on Tuition, Room, and Board, I just added my own funds to the tuition and stipend to give total funds available as $38,706. I didn't add my husband's funds to it since it asked about funds available for study.

6) Under the most recent note, there was an update on 22nd July, but the part for text was left blank.

7) Against eligibility, I saw "Recommend interview".

Please, advise me on what to do to salvage the situation since our application is still in progress. Thank you!

you need to stop jumping and drop this oversabi attitude.
he’s a paper applicant( which means he submitted his passport)
he got refused
because he linked his application online he found out he had been refused online. hence the reason i asked if after the refusal he had been able to get his passport back.

you don’t need to drop your unwanted two cents on every thing.

There was one in Portharcourt (Prime Medicals), but it was no longer carrying out medicals for Canada travels as at last year.
In fact I still have their number and just called them now because of you, but they're still not rendering the services.
I think there's no other place than Lagos and Abuja (IOM and QLife)

Wow.. thanks bro.. really appreciate that

Hello, please is there anyone here who got refused on his or her gcms note and have been notified officially after requesting for the gcms? Or is it still saying we are processing your application on your portal?

I don't know why IRCC don't wanna update people about their decisions.. It's really annoying angry angry

Hello guys,

Please I need your help. How do I overcome all what the VO pointed out. Before I applied for undergraduate degree and used a third party sponsor but now I am going for masters in journalism, I studied mass communication and worked as a journalist for 5 years before coming a freelance article and ebook writer. I have decided to use my husband as home ties while applying with my kids 2 and 4 years. I have 4million in my account while my husband has 7 million to act as a co-sponsor. Please what more do I need to do to get it right now.

Hello sorry for the refusal. But have you been refused officially? Or just on gcms note?
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by skull4eva: 4:01pm On Sep 18, 2020
fratermathy:

Honestly, I would advise you to get university funding at all cost. If that is impossible, you may be able to build your account. The PhD programme takes a minimum of 4 years. Apart from proving your living expenses and tuition for one year, the VO needs to be convinced that you can afford the remaining years. 9m may not actually prove this effectively. Maybe your Uncle can transfer some money to your account and then get a letter of support to show that. I don't know if this will be enough but it'll certainly make things better than they appear now.

It's best to leave your wife and kid and apply alone first. Once you get the visa, you can then bring them to Canada.
Thank you fratermathy i actually told my sponsor to make tuition payment of 10k cad (3.5m) for my winter resumption so that i can add it along side my new reapplication. With this also i will raise my account to at least 8m too with 4m more from my parents good deeds to add to my initial 4m. I will leave my wife and son behind too. I will also add my parents payslip and properties to further buttress the home tie. I plan to reuse my previous sop add a new loe and den reapply against winter. With this will i stand a chance?

Hello Sapte.

We have almost the same profile. I am a graduate of Mass Communication, I'm going for Graduate certificate in Broadcast Journalism. I was refused last year and I plan to reapply soon. Shall we rob minds ?

Pls my advice to you is this... Get a sponsorship for a PHD, if not make sure you have very deep pockets. No other way. Finally, travel alone, use yout family as hometies and bring your family after you have landed in canada .

Like how much? Will paying my fees plus 9m do?
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by Eilenora: 4:23pm On Sep 18, 2020
Congrats o. Hoping I get an update like this as well.

Looks like you are the only person that has applied for gcms note post AIP till date right cos I am yet to see any other update of this nature. I have applied for mine and counting the days to receiving an update as well.

Hamilah11:
Hi guys. This post is to encourage those with AIP. I applied for my notes after receiving my Aip because I was worried about it not being genuine based on what has been posted here. This is my profile;
Applied July 25
Recieved AIP August 5
Received medical request August 6
Passed medicals August 14
I applied for the notes August 23 before doing my biometrics on the 28th so it didnt reflect. Apparently it shows positive stage 1 eligibility.
An original passport correspondence was also shown in my notes but hasnt been sent probably because of Covid.
I think it's safe to say the AIP is genuine. I wish everyone success. Those waiting for AIP too, may you all receive it soon.

The visa officer is concerned the the third party is non concrete enough, plus the course you're going for is available in Nigeria.

You can right a convincing LOE on why you need to do the master in Canada or you choose another course, then you should look for a way to increase the sum in your husband bank acc adn use only him as your sponsor.
The VO does bot really rate tour travel history so throw more light on it

Hi.. There are plenty businesses here that can give even higher interest rates.. Does it mean that the credibility of a business involved in can negatively affect someone's application? Can the age viz-a-viz financial strength be a reason to refuse his application? Na wa oh.. I think he should an email correcting their misunderstanding
Osemigho:

Incompatible employment and Education profile. Lack of evidence of your parent death. How are you able to save that much money considering your age and employment situation?

Personally I’m curious to know the financial institution that gave you 22% interest on investment. Also, I don’t think you need to be attaching letter of invitation to other countries. Your visa And passport entry and Exit stamps are enough evidence.

In my opinion, you submitted a solid application that looks too good to be true of your age, and employment and financial situations. This can be mere speculation because I am not a visa officer.

Yes. I received a medical invite mine was march 12th
Miide2:
please is there any paper applicant from february or march that has received any update so far ?
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by Sirromey(m): 5:30pm On Sep 18, 2020
They are attending to paper applicants but the process is slow, I have gotten a medical response and I know someone else who has. The problem with cancelling application and reapplying is what if the persons account balance has dropped how will they go about it? If the person has everything in place and they can't wait they should redraw but if they don't I advice they wait
aruya:
My advise to you as a paper applicant will be to withdraw your application and reapply online. That was how we were waiting from March and reapplied in August. Got the AIP in September. I really don't think they're attending to paper and that's most likely why your GCMS notes is empty. Same advise I'll give to anyone who applied with paper and yet to receive feedback. Wish you all the best.
