One thing you need to understand is that football has evolved. We are no more in the era of defenders just whooping the ball about. Why do you think most teams started playing from the back rather than the keeper whooping the ball up field.
I think you should take your time and watch arsenal and see how it matters so much for a defender to have ball playing ability. That is why some on this thread were reiterating that Ndidi should improve his passings.
And no, this doesn't mean I don't rate Ekong but the guy you quoted definitely has a point.
That's the same reason a lowly Levante scored Barça 5.
The same reason Watford scored Liverpool 3.

Because the full backs had gone missing.

If Jordi Alba had done his work, and not run up to do Griezmann work, Barça for no collect 8.

Ndidi is a MF. Of course he should learn to pass, why wouldn't he?

My point is defenders. Defenders

The guy gave his opinion I don't know why you are attacking him about it

Besides I don't see where he said Ekong should score
I wasn't attacking him though.

He said Ekong should contribute heavily in attack

You have a point. Defending should be the first priority for a defender but you should also know that at times, A single smart pass will prevent needless interception, tackles and conceded goal. A defender without ball playing ability is like a liability nowadays. Whooping the ball anyhow will sometimes put the team in pressure. Defenders are always the first element in a build up.
Those teams you mentioned are just having one of their bad games.

Ekong isn't a bad ball player as you're trying to make it look.

He just needs to time his runs well. He has already gotten 3 offsides.

It's clear Emery has instructed Chukwueze to make the better decision between dribbling and passing. I hope Rohr is seeing this, if he's any competent. Besides Chukwueze needs to be aware of his positioning. He's been caught offside a lot.
