Obaseki has won this election because majority of APC leaders allows it.

APC lost Edo governorship election because it was choice of APC stalwarts that wants Oshiomole's power & by extension, Tinubu's influence in APC watered-down. A win in Edo will be a boost to Oshiomole, the party structure that see Oshiomole's out from being the Chairman are actively alive and not happy with his committee decisions to disqualify Obaseki.

Edo elections was decided when almost all APC governors rise against Obaseki disqualifications. The power to be in APC are fighting hard to make Tinubu irrelevant in APC major decisions.

Obaseki was very lucky to get the solidarity support of almost all governors in Nigeria who considered the trend of using party structures to denied automatic tickets for incumbent governor as a slap to their face. Obaseki was lucky that he wasn't the first, the politics surrounding Ambode lost has made a solid ground to such not to repeat itself. Ambode lost was the final straw that intensify the kicking out of Oshiomole, Obaseki case make sure Oshiomole's reign was buried.

Abeg forget this story. The people of Edo made a statement with their vote.

How many of the APC stalwarts voted for Obaseki?

The only thing I can point to is the President's neutrality in this by not allowing the desperate power-hungry fools use the instrument of state to run riot during the election.

INEC was also able to show how much they are improving.

This election goes to show you how much power the people truly wield.

There's a way you'd see the people's vote pattern, rigging would become impossible to carry out.

They can't, because they are cowards and the average Yoruba politician is easily swayed by money. The only ones who are exceptions to this are Oyo people because of their ancient history and they are stubborn.

You made a salient point when you wrote that the incumbent governors don't usually do well in second tenure. However, it's not true that Ize-Iyamu may be better. This is because Oshiomhole will dictate to him. He has to settle them, and by the time you know it, the state treasury will be depleted. Based on that, I believe that Obaseki is a better devil.
