I lost a brand new phone recently and out of seeking means of tracking it, I put up the case on Nairaland.

A day after, certain Ogbivwie Mudiaga called me on phone and mentioned that a lady referred him to me for the purpose of tracking lost phone.

I queried and he presented 'evidences' that he's an EFCC operative and he has done same job over time.

One of the evidences was an EFCC identity card. His name on Truecaller came clean and without indication that he's a fraudster. I shared the IMEI detail with him and he provided a system generated record of the phone. He may have software to do it.

Pronto, he requested for 1,000 airtime to verify where the phone was located. I sent it and he came back with MKO Estate, Alausa Ikeja as where the phone is domiciled and with phantom Glo number whom he claimed to be the user. Also, he shared with me picture of the said user as downloaded from Glo network.

This effort convinced me a little that he might be doing something truly.

Thereafter, he asked for 12,000 to enable him mobilize his operatives and pin down the suspect. I sought for more time (like three days) to think better but he beckoned on me that the longer we wait, the more likely suspect tweak the IMEI. I sent him the 12,000.

Later on, he asked that he needed to move down to Lagos from Abuja and that he wanted the balance to pay Glo who tracked the line. Then, I sent him 5,000.

Afterwards, he requested money for diesel in order to mobilse his fellow operatives, then I started asking questions. At this point, I wanted evidences that he was actually doing something before giving him the 10,000 that he requested for diesel.

In the moment of my curiosity, my beautiful spouse asked me to search the name on net. Alas, I found a similar narration relating to Mudiaga escapades.

His phone number - 08037111012
His Keystone Account - 6030039414
Name: Ogbivwie Mudiaga

Please be careful when dealing with online parties.

How hard is it for you to confirm with EFCC that this man was legit? How lazy are you to do what's right? Do you actually believe that this is how EFCC really works?!?! Can't you see the pic of the card is photoshopped (name and division part)!?!

I feel no pity for people like you who try to Cut corners in order to attain their own little selfish agenda....

If you had used your damn brain, then you would have quickly understood that a guy who has been working at EFCC since 2007 cant possibly be as young as the dude in the above pic.

B) even if they did, wouldn't you 1st confirm that this person is really who they say they are by contacting EFCC directly?
C) are you also blind that you don't see how bad of a photoshop his EFCC card is?
D) are you also blind that you can't see that a guy "that young" cannot possibly be working at EFCC since 2007?!

I am just being honest with you bro... Your stupidity got the best of you. A simple NL search (or Google search) would have brought sense back to your brain.... That dude's name was already known on NL since 2019 for being a scammer (using that same BS EFCC ID)

Special kudos to MrBrownJay1!

My default manner in dealing with unknown Nigerians is to first assume they are criminals before anything else. When one has that mentality, you become very cautious regarding doing anything with anyone whether online or offline.

Sorry for your lose, since he has gone overboard by using the EFCC fake card, please go to their Twitter page an post all these details. NL won't say anything, that's why they are bold to operate here without fear.
You might eventually get help from them to track your phone and get a refund. Even if you don't, just get him into trouble. Don't forget to add the phone numbers and NL links given to you by the helper above, perhaps he might fish out the Remaining of them.
Please ensure you do this reporting, you might be lucky they help you with the tracking. Since the EFCC identity is involved, they will take it up fast, all his original details is in his bank account. They are running a ring in Delta state.

I have taken note of you calling out fraud victims but you are always on harsh tones and use derogatory words which is bad. You should have sent this comment politely instead.
At times we make mistakes before seeing loophole, some people have even made genotype mistakes before absentmindedly. Not everyone including myself know about Photoshop cos I don't use it. It is a pity people are using the forum to scam with no fear because they know the owner will say nothing. Only on NL do scammers expose bank details with no fear and Some even boast after doing it.
Since you know these loopholes, and the case is increasing daily, maybe you should create a thread concerning the awareness. You should also elaborate on how to do the searches on NL and Google (how you got the above and opics). I have tried to search for old topics on NL several times to no avail myself.
Please try to be polite when addressing someone who has just made a lose, he didn't go for money doubles he was only trying to look for his valuable.
