Lol. The Stunt you're trying to pull here is to look for any means possible to use his words against him thereby giving you an advantage of not paying since his payment is at your mercy.
''You never told him it would be at the end of the month, you never told him that's your policy of paying employees.'' So what are you really defending.
Infact, the defamation was worth it cos it actually made you come out of your hiding. You blocked him on whatsapp, what exactly do you want him to do.
This is a big lesson for OP, pls always consider escrow in deals like this.

I have always known that guy to be a scammer. I know six people who did work for him but he refused to pay them giving stupid excuses. He keeps advertising for writers every day, such will tell you of his character. If he pays writers, he won't need to be seeking for writers everyday. He is a bloody scammer. It is unfortunate the poster fell for his scam. He will block you on WhatsApp.

When dealing with clients online

It's just comon to have payment terms before you start the job

The only issue ,is where you are not been paid or when the job is rejected for flimssy reasons

The job owner already has a payment system for its business

The freelancer out to have ask about this

The freelancer here I guess sees that he was dealing with just an individual and not a business therefore ,never asked about the payment terms..and methods

So.. I would say the op is actually not so experience in this,

Just a lesson for all

Mind you.. I never did any writing works

I work as a digital marketer where all we talk is payment terms and methods

I refuse doing a job this month just because the owner missed talking about payment terms and methods

Once a person omit that, then I don't waste time doing such work

Funny thing is, job owner won't get a reply until he/she deals with the issue of payment

Payment terms includes such things milestone before payment

While payment method.. Means the channel of payment.. Btc,bank, paypal and the rest

The above needs to be settled before work is started

Just seven days to month end, you should have just remained calm until then.

I don't not think it's about the 7days. It's about the attitude of the guy.

If you knew you wanted to pay month and it wasn't part of the initial agreement, he should have appealed for his understanding, then the OP would be at liberty to consider him.

He didn't do that acting like the regular Nigerian slave masters, thinking they are giving you free money that you worked for.

Pls, next time be a good judge so that you don't buy another man's curse.

Insulting him on top your own mistake?? After paying him, you ought to apologise. And next time use your conscience when dealing with people.

Has it not occurred to you that you have been busted? You employers treat your employees like slaves and when it goes south, you threaten them with litigation. Unfortunately for you, you met your match today. I have been following this thread from page one and all I can deduce from you is that you are truly a slave rider and a repugnant one at that, who has been busted, but in order to keep face and not fall shamefully is threatening with litigation. If truly you know your onions and you feel you are right, you can serve this op without his picture. PS, I am a hundred and one percent sure that you wouldn't have paid op if not for this call out.I am sure that, like a chicken, you would pay him on the 29th just to corroborate your analogy here. Shame on you still, that you had to wait for a call out before doing what a responsible employer would do. That speaks so much about you.

You keep saying the same thing, your defense lacks vitality and you are beginning to spam this thread. Admit that you are wrong, pay this op and do not repeat this again. If this op were to be a wicked man, not only would he drag you here, he would sue you for not paying him after work done. Of course, your defense line would be "we pay our workers twice a month" but guess what? That won't hold water because it is not written anywhere and you didn't communicate that to the op.

What else is there to say? Pay the op and lay low, for your cover has been blown open!

You did this to 6 other people? Wow, what an exposé!

Exactly! His attitude stinks. 5k in the present Nigeria cannot even feed a grown man three square meals for a week, but imagine the insults the "employer"had to mete on op for that amount? I detest people who oppress those below them. Because of a miserly 5k, you had to insult op because he is under you. If you dont have a change of attitude Mr slave rider, I pray that life teaches you humility in a hard way. Would you be less of a man if you created a formidable and friendly work environment for your staff? But you have to prove that you are the boss and can do et undo, delaying payment even when not communicated, you met your match and you are crying fowl play, asking for a picture as if you have a g*y crush on the op. Come off it!

Ma'am, did you also confirm his attitude before stating this and talking about humility? Who told you we oppressed him or sth? You people are quick to join sides with a supposed victim and talk thrash about others.. Friendly work environment, why would we be harsh if he didn't come out as rude too.. please, you too should come off it before judging.

Why should he apologise? His kind hardly accept being wrong even if it is obvious to the blind. They would rather look for an angle to wiggle out of the mess unscathed. I think the op should leave this thread so his prospective victims would see the kind of person they would be dealing with, should they accept his offer.

Lol. It's pointless talking to such detestable people like you. Ever ready to judge. We wouldn't have paid if we weren't called out? What about the tens of others we have paid and had no issues with. You claim we scammed 6 people yet you and the person who claimed we scammed people have no proof of this. Why are you always eager to pull others down? Coming here to say rubbish. Slave riders cause we gave instructions for him to follow. The job was a continuous job and the 5k was just for the first one before you open your mouth to say 5k cannot feed a family. Please, provide proof of those we have scammed.

We work with others and we have worked with a lot of people from nairaland. If the OP wasn't satisfied with the offer, he could have declined. But he accepted and didn't complain until we asked for a simple correction to be made on the job and then we became the slave riders..
