Good day y'all, I've been following this thread tho i don't really know how to use NL, it's kinda tough to navigate dic site.

Pls I'm applying to 20 schools in the US, only about 11 do provide css profile fee waiver to international students, while others don't at all, pls how do I raise the deficit? at least about four of em accept the ISFAA or how did you applied if the cost proves prohibitive to you?
Pls help a brother!

No advice...this is covid times so funding might be tight. You just have to try and if you try you dont succeed then you look at other realistic option like schooling in naija

You are eligible to receive CSS Profile fee waivers if you are a first-year undergraduate applicant whose parents live in the U.S..... so please check if international students actually get this

No need to rush anything, so you'll not make expensive mistakes that you jeopardize your chances.
They just opened the site, and I am sure that before the end of the day, those who need dates will be able to book.

The 6-day slots are more than enough for all F, J & M applicants in Nigeria. I am sure that during normal operational hours, the U.S embassy interviews more than 100 applicants per day. So, if that figure is close, that is like 600 F, M, J applicants for the entire slots. Guys, all of you will have date! Relax. Also, I think they only want to interview in Lagos, which I think is fine.

If date is not showing on your appointment-scheduling profile yet, give it time, or wait 7PM or tomorrow.
The dates will not finish.
I hope this is the case but personally I don't think it is.

The slots are not 100 per day considering the speed at which it was getting filled.

What i'm quite certain of is that they'd open new appointment dates after this one. Abuja too would open.

Everyone should keep hope alive. Those that have not gotten I-20 should make efforts to do so and pay the required fees. Most likely, they'd continue this format after November 20.

I know someone who paid around July for an expedited appointment, never saw any date to book, and got the reply that expedited appointments weren't happening. He got the mail last week and was able to book this morning.
We need to be clear what is happening and who these dates are meant for.

What is happening here is strictly on a first-come, first-serve basis and has no predilection for any category of people (mail recipients and or expedited applicants).

The person's case you mentioned is a sheer coincidence as well as an exemption. Its a weak premise for a generic conclusion since many here have confirmed they booked a date without getting any mail.

Those that got a mail last week had already shown interest for an appointment before the mail came or had sent a mail to the embassy about visa bookings.

More slots will open up before October 16th.

So guys, please can someone explain what these examinations are; SAT, IELTS, GRE, GMAT, TOEFL

And again someone told me that SAT is like WAEC over here in the sense that if one writes it this year without applying for schools, you can always make use of your result subsequent years, you don't really have to rewrite the test. Please is that true?

It's my first time following this thread, so I just wanna catch up with you guys. Thanks.

Yes you can pay the visa fee and then the Sevis fee later. Just ensure you pay the Sevis at least 3 days before your interview

Please,
Is there still a need for our i20 to include the comment about our program being a face to face format(and not entirely online) My updated i20 for spring does not include it, I want to know if this is going to be important before I pay for document shipping.
Thanks.

Thank you so much, that was of great help. But they couldn't answer my second question which is, if I happen to take any of those exams without getting admitted to any school, does it mean I can still make use of same result when applying subsequent years without necessarily rewriting it? Or I have to rewrite it every year as I apply?

Thank you.

Google should easily show you this but I type something in 2 mins

SAT this would be similar to Jamb. It the entry exam used for undergrad in addition to Waec. Some schools take only WAEC but majorities of the good programs evaluate you based on SAT and WAEC

GRE/ GMAT is similar to SAT interms of it been an entry exams but SAT is for undergrad and these two are from Masters level up

IELTS, and TOEFL in adidition to the exams above some schools like to test your level of English. That is where these two exams comes in. Toefl is widely more accepted in the US than IELTS as a test of your english ability

All these test are valid for a number of years so u dont have to rewrite it until the validity expires. For each validity check google. I think sat is valid for 5 years

they all have their own different validity. TOEFL is 2 years, gre I think is 5 years. Just google, you'll see more info on all.

Is this really the case? All I've been getting is false hope since this lockdown started smh.

After all, they just mentioned those 6 times and nothing else. So how do we know if they will have any more slots?

I even went to pay for the MRV even though I've had one that the US Embassy was supposed to re-verify but didn't. I thought there'll be multiple slots for each time, not just one, which seems like it was the case.

Very disappointing, can't lie.

I am sorry about how you feel. But what you call false hope is actually "waiting", and waiting comes with uncertainties. Yet it doesn't mean what you want will not happen. You just have to wait more until it finally happens. That's better than giving up, considering all the sacrifices you have made.

I didn't say it is 100 per day for this particular case, considering they only plan to take applicantions academic class visas. But during normal operational hours, the US embassy in Lagos and abuja interviews more than 100 people (this is based on crowd I have seen at these embassies and looking at the total number of visas approved and refused by per month in Nigeria).
What I was saying is that, if they stick with the 6-day slots, then it is more than enough to take in all F, J, M applicants in Nigeria--for Spring 2021.
I think the slots did not get filled; I think they pulled the dates down, paused, or something happened. I am not sure, but I do know y'all will be able to book appointment for Spring if truly embassy is opening for interview in October.

It's not lost hope for those who are yet to book. Fingers crossed!

From my guess, I think they were just 30 slots per day. When I chose my date, I saw 7:00am (9) which indicated 9 slots left. When I booked and got the appointment pdf, I saw 7:00am (22) which I feel the 22 indicated I was the 22nd person to book that day slot.

Note: all these are assumptions.

Like you said, it is an assumption. When I booked I saw 21 slots left for 30th October and I got number 11. I could be that some people submitted while I was trying to submit or it could be above 30.
