No other way to treat it apart from surgery?
none that i'm certain of nevertheless, some persons claim early cataract can regress with an eye drop called can-c. I haven't used it in practice as it's quite expensive and it's said you'll need to use multiple bottles of the drops to get results hence i cannot attest to its efficacy. For now, the only treatment i 'm sure of is by surgery

Hello docs in the house, @ optm
Yesterday I noticed underneath my right eye was paining me like I had an injury there but I dismissed it. At midnight I woke up & decided to take a look at it, I noticed underneath my lower eyelid was a bit swollen.
This morning when I woke up, I decided to take a very good look at it and noticed a very tiny boil-like spot at the middle of my lower eyelid and realized that's what has been causing me discomfort. I've checked online & seen that its Stye based on the description.
What can I do & what should I avoid doing pls? I'm seeing its a bacterial infection (stapph) & I'm honestly concerned because of my babies. Thank you.
NB: There's this new soap I tried out on my face yesterday, I applied and left it on my face for almost an hour... Then about 2/3 hours after washing it off, I began feeling the pain... Could it be a reaction caused by irritation after using the soap?

from your description, it should be stye and you will be needing an antibiotic eye drop. You could aswell apply warm compress.

this is quite dicey. I'll be needing other clinical findings to actually tell what might be wrong here. The print out shows you are having a large cup which could be normal in some cases or indicative of glaucoma. The right eye shows some areas thicker than normal which could be indicative of edema. The left eye shows some areas of thinning in the inferior portion defiles a rule we call the ISNT rule as the inferior portion ought to be the thickest portion followed by the superior, the nasal portion, and then temporal portion in a normal eye. Otherwise, it could be indicative of glaucoma. Another thing for concern is the assymetry between the nerve fiber thickness in both eyes. In summary i do not think everything is cool here but your Dr that had u examined would be in a better position to provide a possible explanation for what is wrong looking at other clinical findings.

If someone keeps to his antiglaucoma drugs, is he still likely to go blind?

If your drugs are able to bring the pressure and maintain it at the point where there wouldnt be a progression of the disease, then the person wouldnt go blind from it. Putting and maintain the pressure at which the disease would not progress is the key thing. Hence you have to be managed through by your Dr as from time to time it's necessary you visit Dr who would conduct tests to monitor if the disease is progression or not. It's very important sticking to your meds and also important your Dr evaluates the disease for progressiob from time to time.

Good mrng Doc
Please does it mean my pressure is high when i see Halos around light/bulb? I don't look at digital or TV screens at night but these days i spend a lot of time on my phones at night so when i wake up in the mrng and i look at the bulb in my room i used to see that rainbow like ring around the bulb. But when i don't spend time on my phone before going to bed this won't happen when i wake up.

So does seeing halos mean my pressure is high at that time?

not really. Hallos isnt particular only to having high eye pressures only. There are various eye conditions that can cause that such as dry eye, ocular media opacities , astigmatism, keratoconus etc. It might not be related to your eye pressure which is in your case is well controlled . Did i at any time suggest u did an assessment for dry eye?

Yes i have dry eye too and you told me to do an assesment two months ago. I complained about it during my scheduled consultation last week and the doc taught me a warm water therapy he said i should dip towel into warm water and squeeze it then place it on the eyes but i haven't started doing it.

you should probably be on an artificial tear drop. Maybe that could help you in adjuct to the warm compress

Can you recommend an artificial drop for me?
Tho he gave me an appointment which is next month. But the eye disease cannot progress if the pressure continues to stay within the normal range? And will i still do more CVF tests? I have done 2 so far.

people could have pressures within normal range and still have a progression of the disease. Aside ensuring, the pressures are well controlled, you'll still have to be monitored for progression of the disease hence it's a journey your Dr would have to guide you through. You'll need to do CVF occasionally. Maybe once in a year or as your Dr deems fit.

my mum is in her 80s and having problems with her vision.

she says its all blurry and she can barely see.

she visited london in 2007 and the optician said she had cataracts, but my mum was too scared

to have surgery, she kept talking about all horror stories of pple going blind after cataracts operation.

seven years later, the thing has become worse and she now wants d surgery.

she has been to the specialist eye hospital in ogan, somewhere in edo state.

they keep giving her eye drops, no concrete diagnosis, no talk of a treatment.

dont know wat to do.

Hello doctors.
I noticed around July, lights were brighter than normal and every light has halo and starburst at any time of the day.
I don't see this things before. Until recently, I checked my eye in the mirror and I noticed some kind of things moving up my cornea when I blink, I also see bigger ones too. I also realized my right eye is not as sharp as the left eye. I haven't seen this before.
please help.

the particles you are experiencing, is it seen on the cornea i.e can someone looking at you see these particles or it's just an experience you have like seeing things like strands or cobwebs in your field of view?
