Sorry about your situation.
The truth is that anybody that wants to attain tertiary education should sit down and plan how that particular knowledge will help him/her immediately, taking note of our environment. That is the reason Medical courses are Competitive because to an extent it is a knowledge that could be applied almost immediately after graduation.

people should stop going to the University to study just " any course" except you have a plan of course, if you don't have a plan, just use that 4 or 5 years (if ASUU allows) to learn a skill in order to avoid a rude shock!

I'm sure if your wife had learned this tailoring instead of going to the University to spend years+NYSC+ years looking for a job, she would have become a big Madam today or at least comfortable.

Everything in Nigeria Nowadays is Planning!
Planning is everything.

What I am regretting in my life now is time I wasted in the university. My wife graduated in 2015, she is now learning tailoring because she couldn't get a job too.

Pls ask your people to create job for you,is it the only government must provide the job and you are not only graduate in this country, many are graduated before you finished you high school they did not get government job,pls find something to do than to complain because time wait for nobody

Lol!
Mad Man!......what the Op was saying is that with his qualification, he could not even find a job what while to earn some little cash to advance himself.....what that really means is that even with your qualification atleast you could still use it to find a job....because not many are from wealthy homes...not many are rich......
I myself have killer plans and projects of my own but where is the money?
The jobs keep drying little by little.....So Nigeria is a Failed State if it can't provide average jobs for degree holders...

I hereby present you the award of the most senseless comment I have read on nairaland. Please think before you type bullshit. You are not the only one who was lucky enough to secure a job. Education in Nigeria is a sham but we don't sing it because of the throngs of illiterates, Y-Boys etc milling around ready to ridicule us for our lack of tangible achievements after securing so called white collar jobs.

So the person is the problem and not Nigeria being the problem?

Huh?

You are bankrupt in intelligence and knowledge-wise. More so, you sound irritating because your words itches my heart. To think that you are better off than others academically or otherwise shows how poorly you were trained.
matthewbrian150:

You are a fool for assuming that everyone on nairaland has an uncertain future or in a similar position as you.
The earlier you realize that your future is in your own hands and the country is not your problem, the better for you.

Sorry about your situation. A lot of us Bankers, Doctors, Accountants, Lawyers etc also went to the university and have never been out of a job since we graduated years ago.
This is just my opinion though, but if a person who graduated over 5 - 10yrs ago hasn't been able to find a job, I cannot help but think that there's probably something wrong with the person himself or his quality of education.
see this one, speak for your self bro, generalization is not allowed pls!!see, many graduate have remained unemployed till date. even way beyond Op time! the education system in Nigeria is absolutely SUB STANDARD and only gears towards towards wealth/job dependent instead of job/wealthy creation/independent!!
