The essence of education is not to get a job only
it is because to be useful to yourself and the society

School does not give you direct access to get a job
Lol
Shut the hell up
So people that did not go to school are not useful to themselves and the society?

Do not send your children to school! I repeat do not send your children to school. Let them do what you think you would have done as you are regretting.

My certificates have become useless. I graduated in 2008, passed out of NYSC in 2010. Till date I have not used my certificates for anything. What I am regretting in my life now is time I wasted in the university. My wife graduated in 2015, she is now learning tailoring because she couldn't get a job too.

My question is how were you able to get married without having a job

Sorry about your situation.
The truth is that anybody that wants to attain tertiary education should sit down and plan how that particular knowledge will help him/her immediately, taking note of our environment. That is the reason Medical courses are Competitive because to an extent it is a knowledge that could be applied almost immediately after graduation.

people should stop going to the University to study just " any course" except you have a plan of course, if you don't have a plan, just use that 4 or 5 years (if ASUU allows) to learn a skill in order to avoid a rude shock!

I'm sure if your wife had learned this tailoring instead of going to the University to spend years+NYSC+ years looking for a job, she would have become a big Madam today or at least comfortable.

Everything in Nigeria Nowadays is Planning!

Sorry about your situation. A lot of us Bankers, Doctors, Accountants, Lawyers etc also went to the university and have never been out of a job since we graduated years ago.
This is just my opinion though, but if a person who graduated over 5 - 10yrs ago hasn't been able to find a job, I cannot help but think that there's probably something wrong with the person himself or his quality of education.

Many just keep carrying certificate and applying for work to get money. Look for something to do, do it very well, it will build you on the long run. Don't compete with other people.

Going to School is good for self development. But if it doesn't give you earning immediately, learn something that will. You can use Ur education to compliment it.

the sad truth is that people go to school just to have good certificate and NOTHING else.

You don't have to regret going to uni. a time will surely come when ur certificate will open way for you. since I graduated , I haven't used my certificate but, the skill I acquired in school is what I'm using to survive. Think of what you can do with the knowledge you acquired in school, offer services to people and get paid.

It's neither your fault not your wife's fault. Regretting your University can only be acceptable if you didn't truly study for it.

Any ACCREDITED course you study in the university is useful. It's what you do with it that matters.

Btw, your purpose of going to school should not be primarily for money making, but for self development eg, dangote is richer than the world's richest doctor, but he is just an ND holder and the doctor is probably a specialist in his field. As a graduate, your chances of employability are high coupled with your personality and connection.

Entrepreneurship is a different path altogether.

Your education should

Hmmm I hate the school system but it's not useless. They teach us the opposite of success in schools. They make us compete against each other in class which comes against the basic biological organization of a simple cell. We must work together as an organ to be productive in life. Each one just needs to find out its function. Learn from the sun, stars, moon, water, air, animals and plants.

I won't say much.
Nb. I don't believe in dark science, I believe in the Bible
Collectivist propaganda. Mtchhhheeeew. Op you went to school to gain knowledge for yourself simple, jobs are just the icing on the cake of education.

But why do the teachers at school tell our students that if they don't graduate they would be poor?
