jayceeabdulwasiu:Go for edge first or second generation. REASON: The cost of spare parts are dropping rapidly because the said Ford are numerously flooding the country right now, For instance, the cost of complete transmission assembly varies between 80k and 100k depending on negotiating power. Also both 1st(2007 - 2010) and 2nd(2011 - 2014) generations use same transmission. The fuel consumption is now considerable low, because, Ford has incorpoted in their engine manufacturing the electronic variable timing to enhance the best fuel and air induction l don't agree with you in your second paragraph. edge has a good body structure, potable at the exterior and roomy at the interior. The finishing of the interior deco is excellent. The exterior is curve fascinating with best aerodynamics calculation, it's a great building achitecturer's work., So I want you to have a second look at it. Though, I might not be able to handle this topic of body to your satisfaction, because am not a marketing personal but only good at Ford technology (mechanical, electrical and electronics) . There are bosses and Ford owners in our WhatsApp group that can handle this area far better than I. |

sultaan:FORD VEHICLES(Lincoln, Mercury and Mazda) Am already driving Lincoln and Escape. So if I were to pick the suitable and reliable, I would pick anyone among all which ever comes my way except the Expedition/Navigator. Expedition/Navigator are very rugged and low depreciation of parts, their parts are have the best durability when it comes to Nigerian roads, but I don't need big body. The two potable bodies I have are excellently performing both my domestic and official duties, reloading my spare parts stores and other activities in my field. |

jayceeabdulwasiu:Yes 3rd generation of Ford edge/4th generation of explorer will be suitable for your desire. It's a reliable suv with an excellent electronic technology incorpoted from front bumper to rear bumper, stability on the high ways is second to none. Do you say till 2025, I can personally guarantee till 2030 because I perfectly know the standard of the durability of its components spare parts. There are lots to say about it, which one can I touch, so if you had curiousity about any of its sections, jolly well to ask, I will expantiate on it to your total comprehension. |

plz i have 2003 ford explorer v8 i have used it for 5 years now and its been a great car in all performances, but 2 years ago i started noticing the car is smoking and much when am idle but if i move more than 60kmp u wont see any smoke sometime even in idle it will take upto 20 minutes for the white smoke, am based in ph, some mechanics that checked it said its oil valve seals the sttenght of the car is still intact but it also short oil, my fear is opening the engine cos the mechanic that checked it told me i will spend 40k-50k to repair but i priced the engine in lagos they gave me 90k so what will u advice ? going for new or work the engine , and my engine is just 98000miles also add me to your whatsapp 08068109971 |

Intells:Your explorer is the old model of the second generation, I advise you just replace the engine. What's the assurance that the mechanic will get you the original valve oil seals, at the end it will amount to double work and double expenses. This time around after replacement of the engine, take caution of overheating which could quickly damage newly installed engine valve seals and other engine based components, then try using correct engine oil. Though these might not be the causes of the damage, it might be depreciation of parts which is understandable for a 17 years vehicle in usage. |

radautoworks:yes the actual problem is the good mechanics, i have ones that has been working on it but i believd they only know just about the suspension cos since 5 years i bought it its only suspensions that i hardly worked on no issues at all if not this smoking...i asked those mechanics they told me they can but my assesment with some other fords i v seen them worked in engines wasnt anything to go with cos many i v seen them tamperd with the engines didnt end well so am a bit scared....but if you know any in ph plz u can help me with their contacts thanks |
| Re: Ford Cars Quite Explicit by radautoworks: 7:28am On Oct 06, 2020 |
Intells:I honestly don't know any in PH to recommended but I think a post in the car talk general thread will give you one. I know a member on here is regarded well in PH but I forget which one. If it had been Lagos would have been easy for us to repair yours. Post in the general forum and you'll have your answer. |

radautoworks:Nice one radauto, yes this what should be happening among engineers not controversy. This Ford explorer owner seeked an help and you came to his rescue in my absence. You're now my good Sister not contender anymore. Yes I suggested an engine but you suggested repair, of course it's a better option to cut costs and low mileage engine. Now let's look at it logically and technologically, I want you to think deeper than this, for such a low mileage engine as that to have valve seals problem, don't you think that the engine must have undergone some malfunction processes in the past either with previous or present owner. For the valves seals to get damage at such low mileage, the engine might have paharp had overheating or other malfunction to the extent that the seals lost its strength property of elasticity and became hard. So boundary lubrication that was designed for valve stem and valve guide will be lost and turn to flow lubrication that was meant for only tappets, rockers and camshafts. If such malfunction had happened to the valves seals |
| Re: Ford Cars Quite Explicit by Femtopford(op): 6:42am On Oct 07, 2020 |
radautoworks:Apologies to all viewers, my finger tip missed keyboard and submitted without conclusion. So as I was saying, if valves seals had such malfunction, take caution of engine based components like the Piston rings and others in same categories, they might have reduced the hardness and toughness of their metallic properties which were designed to withstand blow or stress or heat at 90 degree celcious or worst senerio in which they were manufactured with tolerance up to 110 degree celcious.. So after repairs or valves seals, those engine based metallic components will spring up their fault, that's why most mechanics failed after they carried out engine repairs. Just like you said good mechanic, but still they need a competent engineers to supervise, just like it's happening in my workshop Amy my WhatsApp group, see it below
