Please take it easy with him. Many always think those lecturers are well paid, if not some egunje money from students. That is what most of them are enjoying.
Sincerely, the pay is poor.

No way you can be parented by a Professor, kiddo.
The incomprehensible jargon you won't stop typing is enough reason, kiddo.
You all are anything on social media, when you are done living a lie, return to your dirt.

I now know for sure you are an unfortunate person.
You have no manners and in no way a credit to the good parenting i assume you were given. There are many ways to manage your frustrations you know. I can bet my one month salary (which you can never earn in your whole unfortunate life) that you are just a jobless kid still being fed by ITS parent.
Plus the fact that you are a guy masquerading as a female shows you have no self esteem as no lady with dignity and self respect will spew trash as you have been doing. Incase, you are really a woman, then i am sorry for your father, husband, and son should you have any.

what you said is just where my problem is:
ASUU does not manage salary or any payment in the Universities;
SSANU and NASU manages payment in the Universities and both of them are comfortably on IPPIS!
If a lecturer dies and his/her salary is paid, ASUU will never know but SSANU and NASU will know.

Who told you they are comfortable with IPPIS
The system frustrate all union
if ASUU call of their strike today
other union will continue theirs
IPPIS told them all will be well, that's the reason they join.It was only ASUU that saw the future.

I have been observing all the thrash you have been spewing on this thread and it's very obvious that you don't know what you're saying. I have found out that stupid people use insults and condescending words to mask their ignorance. You have been shouting your dad is a professor, right now I'm not so sure he is really your dad. FG isn't ready to be sincere. Education isn't their priority yet.

The IPPIS actually shows that government is sincere about education.

The intention of ASUU is what I find questionable.

The IPPIS offers a lot of potential benefits for our education system. I don't understand why ASUU has a problem with it.

I am currently receiving salary through IPPIS platform. The only good thing about the platform is that the unnecessary deductions by school management has stopped. The truth is that this government uses the platform for their selfish interest. The kind of tax they deduct from worker's salary is very painful. Do you believe that chief lecturers pay more than 50 thousand naira taxes, even professors. The deduction has rendered the new minimum wage useless... completely useless.

First of all, how much do chief lecturers earn that draws a tax rate that is equal to or greater than 50 thousand naira?

Leave the entitled prick. I started as a GA on step 3. My take home was 99k with change. As assistant lecturer i took 104k which peaked at 117k. As L2 i peaked at step 6 with 135k. As L1 i peaked at 179k. I was promoted to SL since 2019. My colleagues that joined ippis receive 230k at step 1. His fathers salary as of 20yrs is irrelevant. This new scale was implemented un 2009. If your looking to build a house and travel the world on lecturer salary your out of luck. Even the earned allowance payments that will help you repaint ur house or buy a tokunbo car is spaced yrs apart with inflation violating the value. Lecturers are not perfect. I was a student once too. But if its on the strike, govt hv been 100% insincere. If students demanded better service delivery and stood up for themselves, half the causes of strikes wont even make the list of ASSU demands
Thanks my dear for making it clearer. Noise doesn't cover ignorance. I was so surprised at his/her bold display of ignorance even when people in the system were trying to enlighten him/her. It's unfortunate the FG has decided to display wickedness and insincerity on this IPPIS issue. Telling lies and using propaganda in the media. I'm sorry for Nigerian students if these issues are not harmoniously resolved before resumption. They will be at the receiving end. We have been talking about falling standard of education and all manner of unwholesome practices in the system, but what we are about to experience if Govt tries to arm twist ASUU to submission will be alarming. Discussion with an average Lecturer in the by University shows that they are very bitter and sad with the way Govt has treated them. Some good ones are already looking for alternative means of survival and have vowed not to bother about the good of the system again, while the bad guys among them now seem to have a ready excuse and motivation to extort and make unnecessary demands. Unfortunately, it is the students that will bear the brunt.

This is really the crux of the matter. Wasting students time.
One of the headlines on Thisday newspaper today is 'Federal Government urges ASUU members to consider farming as alternative profession'.
You can imagine that. To them, this is a joke.

That deduction cannot be for only tax, perhaps I think there other deductions, such as NSITF, Pencom etc that go along with your quoted figure

The solution to this debacle is to increase tuition to #600,000 and above like private schools.

Don't be fooled.

I'm in the system. As a matter of fact, in one of the Federal Universities as an Academic staff. I have read comments on each and every page of this thread with keen interest just to get a view on public perception of the ongoing imbroglio between ASUU & FG. I had no intention of commenting, but you've pushed me into breaking that vow. Summarily put, It's sad my inference suggests that many Nigerians are oblivious of the truth.

The situation on ground appears beyond their comprehension. Ignorance has eaten really deep into our society and it's glaring from the comments here. Someone even went as far as claiming her (if she's truly female) dad is a Prof. and earns over N1.4mil - that's not only preposterous but outrightly ludicrous! - broad day blatant lie from a virago, from the pit of hell! FG seems not only smart, but also capitalising on public ignorance to peddle falsehood against ASUU and pull wool to cover residual vision of the many intellectually impaired Nigerians!

Fact is, this issue is more complex than the average Nigerian (including our students) can comprehend. It's a shame we choose this path as a nation. Ridiculing education and the last bastions of hope for the profession shouldn't be contemplated.

My dear, I just pity Parents and Students. Nigerians don't seem to understand what is about to happen. Unfortunately, the whole thing will rest on the head of Parents and their children in Universities. Our politicians have their Children in foreign Universities. They don't care what happens in Public Universities. We have the most irresponsible and careless leaders. Inflicting hardship and pain on defenseless citizens. All through the COVID lockdown no effort was made to resolve the ASUU strike. They preferred to hide under pretence of lockdown to keep our schools closed, While doing nothing about the strike.

the vcs of all Nigerian owned universities should employ new people that want the job and clear out these ASUU selfish personalities....closing the tertiary educational system because of ippis is wickedness....its is detrimental to our future educational intrested citizens and our already existing students are forgetting the importance of what they are studying and so on....I call ASUU a terrorist organisation and should be removed from our schools.

You just typed trash, how about you tell us how much chief lecturers, associate proffesors and professors are paid to be taxed above 50k?
I pay a tax of #18,350 monthly and it is indirectly proportional to my monthly pay and there is no harm in it. Do you even know how much a professor earns? How on hell does their tax render the minimum wage useless? Those who could complain of unfavourable minimum wage are those at the base of the payroll not the senior staff and officials. You should not pay tax at all then.
I can even swear you are just a wannabe staff, you don't know how the system works.
Now get off my sight and make the right complaints.

Actually na fight.
Does it make sense at all to talk about how much you are taxed without opening up on how much you are paid?
The assistant lecturers, other junior staff and co are the ones being probably underpaid and whatever benefits come out of this nonsensical strike won't even get to them. And that one was foolishly writing about professors as if na small money them dey collect.

I am talking from personal experience, a system I know front and back, he is on Nairaland telling me what the uncle to his elder sister's concubine told him. You all are pathetic jokers airing hearsays. Now go feed on dirt like your cohorts.
I know your type..... The ever insulting small-minded, lowlife miscreant male who poses as a female on nairaland. I guess your low self esteem pushed you into creating this pseudo account to hide your real moniker. Read what you just wrote and tell me if it makes meaning to you. As you claim to know 'the system front and back' why not dish out figures to counter what I wrote? I repeat, chief lecturers go home with averagely 360k and pay not less than 105k all round deductions!

The salary you quoted is more that an Associate Professor salary but not up to a Professor salary.
in polytechnics, chief lecturers exist.
