You are right, I considered the fact that Maguire and Lindelof are not the ideal partners for a budding CB like Mengi because they are useless and we wouldn't want their uselessness to rub off on Mengi.

But desperate times call for desperate measures. Our CB department is in critical conditions. I really hope we will not have to throw Mengi into the starting lineup so soon, but I envisage that we may soon have no choice if our so-called senior CBs keep on being worthless. The poor lad will not only have the problem of coping with the pressure of playing for Man Utd's first team, he will also have to cope with playing alongside doofuses.

One can only hope Mengi comes out of this unscath. Greenwood had no one to learn from, but he is doing quite alright.
