Protesters have started blocking roads in Lagos, leaving a lot of people stranded.

What is your opinion on this?

Do you think it is right that they are blocking roads?
is it right for police to kill the same people they were paid to protect?

Yes it's illegal to nlock the road. Give them slap on the wrist charge then they can bail out in few hours. The roads will clear for everyone and they get the attention they wanted. Even Martin Luther King got arrested for his civil disobedience. Getting arrested is part of the process and a badge of honor if your for the cause.
getting arrested in Nigeria uh?

of course not, and look, I totally support the protesting going on right now, 1000%

but that doesn't mean I still shouldn't call out injustice on their part.

A family member spent almost 12 hours on the road this past weekend, then think about others that had emergencies to attend to, it really is not fair, it's not fair at all.

They could protest and leave one lane open, so that there is a slow down of traffic to draw attention to the protest, but not a total halt of traffic.

Not everyone has free time, some people actually have life and death things to do, appointments to keep.

The funny thing is that some of the people they blocked might actually also support the protest, or might have actually joined it at some point. So it's also unfair to them. Imagine you joined the protest on Friday, but on Sunday you were blocked by the same protesters you supported, causing you to miss a flight, an appointment, a hospital visit, e.t.c

In fact I'm starting to believe some of these guys that block the roads are just plain evil.

and those supporting the pains of motorist stuck in traffic forever, may God forgive you, cause you don't know what you are doing.

Imagine a pregnant woman in labor stuck in traffic for 10 hours.

May God forgive all you wicked people.

No it's illegal to block the roads. When they caught they should be arrested and charged accordingly. They can practice civil disobedience if they want but there's consequences. They don't own the street so they cant block it.

Who owns the street if not the masses whose resources are exploited to build the streets.

If they are not carrying arms and not violent with their protest, they have not broken any law, they are only exercising their right to freedom of protest.

If all things were equal and all Nigerians reasoned like these brave youths, every Nigerian home and abroad ought to join them and stop all economic activities making it look like the youths protesting are fools.

Please appreciate their efforts to make Nigeria work for all!

We @Mimi Logistics strongly support Nigerian Youths in their demands for a reformed Nigerian Police and society in general!

See this one. What's called a protest? Google it. Mounting roadblocks is one of the tools used, so far they're not being violent, its in order. I was at Lekki yesterday, up to iyana ipaja and abule egba, all the roads were only partially blocked. 3 lanes were merged into one.

NOTHING IS RIGHT IN THE COUNTRY ANYMORE, the president is wrong, inec is wrong, judiciary is wrong, legislators are wrong, let everybody be wrong then, na craze dem dey use cure craze, if you dont block the roads, we will not be heard.....FORCE THEM TO HEAR YOU. THE GOVERNMENT IS EMBARRASSED, THAT IS WHY YOU SEE THEM USING ALL CRAFTY MEANS TO SHUT PEOPLE UP. I am sorry for what the people that wants to move are passing through, BUT at some point we all have to make sacrifices, whether we choose to make those sacrifices, or those sacrifices are imposed on us....Some have lost their lives, protesting for a cause that might even benefit others more than them. WHAT SACRIFICE IS GREATER.

Your protest is no longer a peaceful protest the moment your action causes another citizen discomfort. Police can exercise their rights to maintain law and order.

I don't know if its right or not but even in America recent during George Floyd police brutality ( ICANT BREATH ) case people troop to the street and major highway in Minneapolis in Minnesota blocked by protesters and vehicular movement were also brought to its kneel. Sometimes people see it as fast way of drawing the authority's attention.
