TVC, Not Bourdillon, Suspended Sanzye, Says Afolabi-brown by Maxymilliano(m): 11:35am On Oct 17, 2020
The host of breakfast programme, Your View, Morayo Afolabi-Brown, has denied an allegation by her former colleague, Sandra Eze aka Sanzye, that Bourdillon ordered her indefinite suspension from the show.

Afolabi-Brown said in a video on Instagram that the decision to suspend Eze was taken by the management of Television Continental and not Bourdillon.

Bourdillon, Ikoyi, Lagos, is where the home of All Progressives Congress chieftain, Bola Tinubu, is located. Tinubu is rumoured to own TVC.

Sanzye, who was a co-host of Your View, one of the most-watched breakfast programmes in the country, had taken to Instagram on Friday to narrate how she was suspended by the company for walking out during a live television programme.

She took issue with the manner in which the TV station had handled the threat directed at Igbo people by the Oba of Lagos, Rilwanu Akiolu, who had threatened to drown all Igbo persons in the lagoon if they refused to vote for his preferred candidate in the 2015 governorship election in the state, Akinwunmi Ambode of the APC.

Sanzye said she was told that ‘Bourdillon’ ordered her suspension indefinitely until she was forced to leave the station and struggled financially until she took up a career in acting.

Addressing the issue in a 10-minute video clip, Afolabi-Brown said when Sanzye walked off the set during the live programme, they never thought anything of it but the TVC management thought otherwise.

She admitted that in the early days of the show, people used to threaten to report them to ‘Bourdillon

Afolabi-Brown said, “The elephant in the room, who owns TVC, is not for me to say. Everyone knows who owns TVC and the truth is that people always use that to put us under undue pressure sometimes. They say, ‘Oh, I am going to report you to…’, ‘I am going to tell them you did this, you said that on television’. We get that a lot.

In the early days, we used to get scared when we were fresh in the business. But the truth is that we are seven years in the game. Nobody can scare us anymore. But in the early days they used to use it to scare us that ‘Oh, they’ve just got a call. What did you say on TV, who did you criticise, we used to get that a lot. That was then.

“But it wasn’t factual that someone from somewhere asked that Sandra be let go. It was purely a company decision because of the unprofessional way of walking off a live set.”

Afolabi-Brown said it was true that she used to take breaks off the set when she was pregnant but it was during commercial breaks and not on live TV.

The broadcaster said the decision to suspend Sanzye from the programme had nothing to with her tribe.

Afolabi-Brown said she did not plead with the management to spare Sanzye because she was a deputy director at the time.

“What people expected me to do was to go and find the owner of the station and say please help me. Maybe today, because I am no longer a TVC employee and I am now a contract employee, if I have the opportunity of seeing the owner, I could plead. But then, I was a deputy director with TVC. It would have been unethical to leave my position in the company and start looking for the owner to beg,” she said.

TVC fired her ungrateful , uncultured ass for walking out in the middle of Live Broadcast with millions of viewers live... Fvck her, and anything she says

TVC is headed by European Top Managers... It's staffs are from every angle of the country, if a particular girl feels marginalised let her walk off and stop wailing

If my driver for whatsoever reasons abandons my car in the middle of 3rd mainland bridge, I'll fire him

First, let me acknowledge that Sandra Eze has right of movement but walking out of the live program was unprofessional and huge disrespect to her co-presenters, the viewers and her employers. Sandra is not as cerebral and critical as co-presenter Tope Mark-Odigie but she applies professionalism. One day, Sandra will own a TV show or TV stations and I will see if she will applaud and promote an employee who walks out on her live program.

Second, let me also acknowledge that Sandra Eze has right of expression but not respecting the corporate interest of your employer is pure SABOTAGE. TVC gave her platform for fame and experience. If an election was up in a few days and somebody made a careless statement that would damage the political fortune of your employer and you were told not to escalate the sensitive issue, why go ahead and escalate? Even Agatha Amata's TV she is currently working with was funded by ex-governor Uduaghan. So, will they spare her if she deliberately did anything that would damage his political fortune?

A typical illustration is the fact that many people who disagree with #EndSars protest organizers' tactics are exercising restraint to criticize because of far reaching consquences of damaging the gains made and being seen as enemy of the youths. That's wisdom which Sandra lacks.

The truth is people should learn to accept consequences of their actions without blaming others.

This shalaye is not even necessary. If Tinubu ordered her suspension, so be it. TVC is a private company and not a public corporation. Companies have rules and regulations, if an employee breach any of the rules, sanctions apply. No big deal. Nobody owes her anything.

How will a whole Tinubu be bothered about one sacked, unprofessional mgbeke in TVC. Who the fvck does she think she is??

Walking out of a program isn't ethical, she shouldn't have done that. No employee would condone that. Anyways, we have an attitude of attaching ethnic coloration to anything in this nation.

Morayo you don't need to defend Bourdillon we know the truth. It is the rule of nature, he that pays the Piper dictates the tune.

Bourdillon has always publicly presented himself as a true democrat but with the way we see him run Lagos affairs we know that is not the case.

After watching the way he disposed of Ambode I had confirmed the kind of person he really is. It was still on a TVC program (Journalist Hangout) that Babajide was advicing that journalist should have worked out on FFK when he insulted a journalist some weeks back. Now it is the same TVC that is firing another journalist for working out when she felt insulted grin grin cheesy

Double standards everywhere its a pity. The only mistake you made was telling her the source of where her sack order came from. I just felt disappointed with the way you guys handled the situation especially knowing fully well that igbos form a major chunk of your viewership.

I just hope this mess is not blown out of proportion because I believe igbos have left that episode behind them let's not rekindle that horrible past from our senseless leaders that will always want to use the divide and conquer mechanism to control us.

Rather let's focus on what are more important now which are

A big shame on all tribalistic bigots.
Any little thing, the empty headed animals will start ascribing tribes to it.
Now, you have heard it from the horses mouth.
Tribalism, one of the evil in our society that has brought us to where we are as a nation.
I hate tribalism with all of my blood.
They are so annoying and always stupid.
Fvck all tribalistic animals, especially the ones on this forum.

one of our major problem as a nation Is being tribal in everything.

thousands of people are getting fired everyday in Nigeria because of reasons that are not even up to her unprofessional conduct, some lost their job just because they looked directly into their boss eyes, many were fired for coming late to work or even eating in a work area, a friend of mine lost his job just because of his body language, some lost their job just because they are smarter than their boss. it happens everyday in Nigeria and there are millions of qualified people that are jobless. so peoples gats move on

TVC just like any other private enterprises are free to set any rules regarding how they render their services. no private enterprise would dabble into things that can tarnish their reputation or provoke the largest class of their customer base.

walking out of a live TV show alone justify sacking her as a TV personality. she doesn't have to appeal to tribal sentiment to gain sympathy from emotional tribal folks like her. I'm sure she's aware of her wrong doing, that was the reason why she went to bourdilon twice to ask forgiveness.

it's her own to apologize, it's their own to accept or not. but they didn't, she still doesn't have to drag them and tarnish their image just because she's not in good term with them or she doesn't like who their boss is, at least she was also working there, i didn't even know who she is until she started working at TVC .

shame on her ! the only place she can work now is for herself, I'm glad she realized that. no one can employ unprofessional people like her that still feel they can't be punished for their wrongs because they are from a very special tribe

Tinubu deserves to make an official response to this allegation because little things like this could hunt him in the future.

Look at the protest happening everywhere if the government had responded swiftly and not arrogantly at the beginning things wound not have escalated this way.

Already TVC is already been mocked by the way they are not effectively covering the protest and we all know it is not unconnected with their link with Tinubu. I am not a fan of his but I am also not his enemy I just love the fact that TVC is the number one station in Nigeria and I want them to maintain that title for as long as they can because Channels TV don too carry that title for long and having some kind of competition is good for TV.

Tinubu is a major shareholder / Owner in many Nigerian top companies.. Oando , Intels, TheNation , hotel Continental, Chagaoury groups , Remita , Alphabeta Wema bank and a whole long list.

Simple rule has kept them afloat is , he never directly manages his business, he keeps it only with professionals and, doesn't speak about them, and his direct nuclear family are not running them, so he doesn't have to answer to anyone except his managers, his immediate family don't have to also get dragged into any mess
