Cyberknight: So foreigners don't have real estate Investments in Nigeria. Indians, Lebaneses, Americans, Chinese, South Africans and others have real estate Investments in Nigeria and they are getting rental income from their Investments. 2 Likes |

If you are in Lagos, nothing would happen to your property. There is a reason Dangote put his refinery in Lagos and nowhere else. If you are afraid of takeover of your property, incorporate a Company in which you're a director and transfer ownership of the property to the Company. Thereafter, process your Title from the government in the name of the Company. 8 Likes 1 Share |

ahiboilandgas: Of course they do. Which still doesn't mean its not going to happen. Everyone is just trying to survive this government till 2023, but anything could happen at any time. Make no mistake about it, Nigeria more than ticks all the boxes for conditions prevailing in other countries than succumbed to conflict, and in this case the utter incompetence of the government is now a contributory factor. 4 Likes |

Lol. The primitive sentiments (on all sides) that pushed Nigeria into the 1967 - 70 conflict are still very much alive and well in 2020. Lagos included. All governments have not helped with this their lousy state of origin policy which is stupid. 6 Likes |

Cyberknight: For every problem, there is a solution and for every solution, there is a problem. If Nigeria splits, some people would lose and some people won't. You can't help it. You own is to ensure that you don't lose what is yours. If you intend holding real estate for a very long time, buy it in the name of a Company and get proper documentation. If you check Osinbajo's Asset declaration documents for instance, what you see majorly there are shares in specific private companies. Those companies were formed to hold assets. That's an example of how you use the law to protect yourself and your assets. 11 Likes |

MrMcJay: Nigerian law. It didn't work post-1970 when at least the courts were not as compromised as they are now (ask the owners of seized property in Port Harcourt and some in Lagos) and you think it will work in another similar situation? 9 Likes |

ahiboilandgas: Lol. Again, it is not for me to seek widespread acceptance of my opinion. That people are apparently not disinvesting and fleeing doesn't have any bearing on what I think. Secondly, in the same way that people who can afford to are evacuating from Nigeria en masse in the belief that it no longer offers hope and opportunity to they and their children, others are declaring that they will do no such thing and Nigeria will be their homeland forever, while yet others recognize the dangers of a visionless future, but do not want to uproot their lives or cannot do so. Same with the people you mentioned/ 4 Likes |

Cyberknight: As I told you before, for every problem, there is a solution and for every solution, there is a problem. If you keep looking for solutions, you will get them and if you look for problems, you will also get them. Can you please mention anybody you know in Lagos who held a property in the name of a COMPANY and the property was seized and not released. Not just blanket claims, mention just a single 1 in Lagos. Even those held in Lagos in personal names were not seized. 1 Like |

Money making is an art for igbo and they are capitalists that don't hold property for emotional reasons, invest, make profits and even if they lose the property in the end,no problem. ahiboilandgas: Have u done a check on the influx of other tribes into Lagos and especially Abuja.........Right now if u r looking for house help, The is a thriving industry among egun and French speaking people, If u talk fresh Veges there is a thriving industry among Northerners, If u talk of spare parts there is a thriving industry among south easterners................ Be careful of the narrative u believe, the fact that a particular tribe is dominating an area does not mean they own substantial property there. It's not only south easterners that are seeing opportunity in Lagos 2 Likes |

ahiboilandgas: And who are these so called "other" Nigerians, and show me the investments they have in other regions outside their own apart from Lagos and Abuja. For the rest: Because they don't want to. Because they buy into the federal government's policy of suppressing development in the east by denying it serious infrastructure. Because they too are ethnic bigots who do not see why they should "develop" someone else's land. And as for Dangote's decision to site a refinery in Lagos, had there been any serious port infrastructure development in the ND/east as there should be or a reasonable prospect thereof, that decision would have lacked economic sense. 9 Likes |

MrMcJay: No need going back and forth with spurious arguments. I summarise thus: The Nigerian system is broken in all ramifications, and cannot guarantee anything to the ordinary man in normal times, let alone in an exceptional situation that would arise in the aftermath of any breakup. 13 Likes |

Too early in the week to wander into political discussions especially one of the most emotional issue in the country. I think we are threading on dangerous ground here. What should we expect this week, will dollar increase? will the stock market continue its rally? How will CBN react to the effect of #endsars on the economy. Considering how this year has gone with Covid and now #endsars, what will the financial report of this year? How many companies will survive this unprecedented year? WE really need to stay off politics here, let us not kill this thread. 17 Likes |
