An American average houses are so expensive than houses in Banana island.

An average single worker in USA living in a one room rented apartment pays $2000 monthly. In a year it totals to $24000. That's about #9,000,000 naira in conversion rate of 380.

While in Naija, the most beautiful 3 bedroom ensuite flat in Lekki can be gotten for#600k or 700k yearly. About $1800.

Imagine earning $4k and your rent eats up 50% of Ur income and you then spend extra $1000 for your bills and taxes. see why it's somehow difficult for your friends or family who are abroad to send you Money?

Average is relative in the US....and I don’t know what you mean by ‘one room rented apartment’.

Are you talking about shared sublet rooms or studio apartments or one bedroom apartment?

In any case, you can get a studio or one bedroom apartment in Manhattan for less than $2,000/month and that is where it is more costly.

If you prefer to save money and don’t mind commuting, you can get it for far lesser in any of the other New York City boroughs or if you cross over the Hudson to Newark or any of the cities in Essex County or the other counties sharing boundary with New York City, you can get a decent three bedroom apartment or a whole house for far less.

Another drug addict comes to nairaland to open a thread just to type rubbish.

This one had never been outside Nigeria in real life , this one lives in one village in Ekiti and is a mental patient.
You can't even get a flat for 1 million in lekki , and the most flats go for between 2 - 6 million a year in Lekki

The America you visited I have a sister who lives there and works in a tech company her rent isn't even close to $1000 for her home and she commutes by sub 30 minutes to work everyday with ease .

You are sick and a mad man , next time you finish taking drugs and want to comment restrict yourself to commenting on the happenings in your village

The only place where you'll rent a one room apartment, i.e, a studio not a one bedroom apartment, for $2,000 is in Manhattan and downtown LA or Hollywood.

In some parts of the USA, rent for a 3 bedroom apartment is less than $1,200. So it depends on where you are.

this is a big lie.
An average 3 bedroom flat in America goes for between 900 to 1200 a month. You can get a studio apartment for 500 a month in a city like Atlanta.

Now the truth is that the average town in America has more infrastructure than lekki, asokoro or wherever else our VIPs live in Nigeria.

Also the poorest people in America who earn minimum wage make up to 1200 a month.

Below are pictures of South Central L.A. Its considered a ghetto. Compare it with Lekki

That amount the OP quoted to rent one bedroom apartment is actually a mortgage payment for a very decent house in some nice neighborhood.

It all depends on location. 1bed/1bath in Redondo Beach California may cost up to 2k/month or more while it may cost $1500 or less in cities like Carson, Wilmington, Gardena and Inglewood that are less than 10miles apart.

Reality is that if you make saving money a priority in the States, you can save a lot especially when you're single.

Problem is that a lot of Nigerians live beyond their means because they have credit cards available and also borrow so much in funding needless educational degrees.

When the billing statements start coming in the mails, saving money will surely become almost impossible.

American Dollars is obviously different from Naira...

They pay monthly in the states and you can get the cheapest at $1500-$4000 in NY...

While you can get rent at
west Virginia $830
Indiana $890
iowa $860

You need work hard and pray for grace in the states or you live on paycheck

No, I'm not really sure though but I haven't seen any, the country is relatively safe that's why I mentioned it, the US is just living on 1920's glory.

The US has fifty country-sized states. They can't all be insecure. Some US states are far safer than NZ.
Plus US is the second richest western country by per capita income after Norway
