Concerning your questions, I think it will have a negative impact if the protesters don't stay focused on the goals and objectives of the protest and making the right demands such as:

-better governance
-making politicians accountable
-reducing the cost of governance
-improving the economic conditions of Nigerians and creating the right environment for investors
-etc

I suspect government wants the people to be the ones to request for clamp down on the protesters because even the police have gone on break.

I do not normally waste time and data to do meaningless online arguments in a faceless forum. Just trying to tell the poster that the cause of the problems of Nigeria is not down to any generation. Every person's great great grand parent could have contributed at any point in time.

Gani was always taken to Gashua prison in Bornu state. That is the toughest and worse prison in the country. Was expected. Edo started it yesterday. Anybody that was thinking that the protesters will be allowed to just block major roads and the government will not do anything was just dreaming. I know it is rebranding. What was done by him required another strategy to engage and not to change hastag or increase demand. If you study Nigeria system very well, it is always what they do. SARS was disbanded and SWAT formed. Hastag changed from #EndSARS to #EndSWAT. So if SWAT is ended and 'WAT' is formed, hastag then changes to #EndWAT abi?. In as far as there is no limitation to hastags, there will be no change to naming. Is that what you want?. You need to understand that Nigeria Leadership is still not yet fully out of the Military ways of doing things. It is a mentality thing which will take time.

That the dimension protest has taken will affect investment will be saying the least.
Generally, market is affected by: Results from listed companies, news, sentiments, speculations, level of economic stability and the generally outlook of the country.

However, when the effect on the stock market (any investment window) for instance is due to external causes and not because of management or bad results ie internal there is no course for alarm.

If for example you invest in a company that has its fundamentals still intact and external factors like the protest results in low price of the stock, that will be a better time to buy more and average down.

Sincerely from experience when there are crises opportunities are most times presenting itself in the stock market.

That notwithstanding, if you are risk averse, it is always better to remain with low risk investment window and stay with fixed/guaranteed income instruments. Also, this time may not be the best time to invest in instruments not regulated by SEC or to speculate.

With all the happening in Nigeria, The VEGETABLE has not come out to address the nation yet he travels to other countries uninvited during pre-covid times.
