A christian can't be possessed by a demon.
A born again christian is a new creature. He's no longer any curse. Though the devil will still try to bring old habits and generational issues if the Christian is ignorant of this. We put the devil in his place by affirming the word of God and who we are in Christ.

You need to go for deliverance if you feel demon possessed, delivering yourself with the right prayer can work but it always takes time, you might need the assistant of a brethren to deliver you.
Covenants can break, all you need to do is midnight prayers to break it but like I say it can take a while, consistent prayers break it.

a genuine born again Christian cannot be possessed by demons but can be influenced and afflicted by them if they still have a legal right to do so such as ancestral, covenants with parents, not breaking soul ties made through fornication in your sinful days, abortion or assisting someone else to get an abortion, curses, any form of unforgiveness no matter how little. All the Christian has to do is to undertake a prayer and fasting session confess all their past sins and the sins of their ancestors (idolatry, murder etc). Ask God to close all the legal rights the sins gave to the enemy. Break all soul ties made with past sexual partners with the blood of Jesus (if you can mention their names, the better). Then say deliverance prayers backed with scriptures or meet a deliverance minister to conduct the deliverance, depending on your faith, experiences, circumstances or as led by the Spirit.
My personal experience, I was afflicted with a strange illness in the abdomen when I repented, I didn't know about deliverance or demonic affliction, but I was directed by the Spirit to go for my first deliverance session, immediately after the prayers,the sickness left me till this day. As at then I was super shocked, i didn't even know some sickness can be demonic. I went after some months and I was delivered from a marine spirit courtesy of my background. Now, I conduct my personal deliverance and warfare using Olukoya's books every now and then and even fight warfare in dreams. As far as you declare yourself a Christian in this world especially in this Nigeria, you had better be fully armed as in Eph 6:14-17, because the warfare never ends to avoid living like a pauper whereas you are a prince in Christ
