No agreement will be met. I just want FG to stop their salaries permanently. No work no pay. Then let ASUU stay at home till 2023.
The students will suffer it, don't u think so? that's not the right way to solve issues, the FG needs to settle ASUU so that dey can call off the strike

Let me respond to each of your allegations:
1. Do you have enough evidence? This is a spurious allegation that holds no water. The system has checks and balances. The human resources of each University has records of birth certificates /age declaration which must be submitted before a person is appointed a lecturer. Retirement date of each lecturer is also indicated in the annual appraisal forms which must match with the employment records.
2. Vacant academic positions are collated from departments and advertised by universities yearly. Sometimes those vacancies are not filled because the applicants may not meet the specific requirements. Minimum requirements for lecturing is a PhD. In the interim, fellowship is acceptable for medical specialties. Plus specific work experience and publications.
3. I'm not aware of lecturers working as full-time staff in multiple Federal Universities. A lecturer should have only one full-time appointment and can be a visiting lecturer based on need. No lecturer can work in unilag and UI or OAU as full time it is just not possible. Its cheap blackmail of the government. They should provide evidence and make scape goats of anyone culpable. A visiting lecturer is only paid about 30% of what a full-time lecturer gets.

The Nigerian Higher Institutions System of learning is so corrupt.

Let them go on IPPIS.

I will not type more than that.

I have lots of first hand information that will negate the points you have raised.

The system has become a cult like/ class of sort and even more than that!

ASUU should take it easy with the govt and IPPIS because every system has it numerous challenges at beginning and get better over time. I was hoping ASUU should know this and show patient enough to get the IPPIS fully functional.

When the whole returning officers who are professors and lecturers conspired and imposed a man who never saw the insides of a university as president, what did you expect?

A professor was even standing behind him as VP grin

This matter goes back to the time when a PhD holder was the president.

You people should learn to understand that going to conventional university doesn't automatically make you educated or knowledgeable.

There are many self-taught people in the world who would put you to shame even if you have a PhD.

Even reading through some of their way of reasoning can give you an idea that most are lacking in the area of critical reasoning.

Thank God, there are other alternative platforms ( Udemy and co) to learning better employable skills.

Classroom learning will soon become obsolete.

So, you believed that professor truly received N8,000 as monthly salary for several months? So much for you, someone who saw the insides of a university. Lol

somehow:

since the universities have laws governing them, let them pay themselves using internally generated funds they dont remit anywhere
That is only possible if the government allows universities to charge tuition. The same Government insists that tuition is free but has refused to fund education. Primary and secondary school fees are higher than the fees paid at Federal Universities.

Yes of course! And mind you, if you visit, you will only be given a sealed salary of around #100k! And this is the reason why some lecturers go to as many places as they could, so they could accumulate #100k!

And they wouldn't come to class in their primary places of assignment until two weeks to exam date.

So you mean ASUU President will come to TV and lie against FG? Why do you think they have refused to call off the strike?

Look at you.

If a WHOLE Honorable Minister like Fashola could come to the public and disgrace himself by acting as if he is a top FBI Detective, what stops a common ASUU National chairman from lying too?

The right questions any sensible mind should be asking now is why did such professors receive such ridiculous amounts. How many of such professors received the said amounts? Are those professors still receiving the 8000naira salary or was it a one time thing? Were those professors on Overdraft or owing loans or something like that?

This ASUU chairman will be telling all sorts of ridiculous lies just to garner cheap public sympathy by making it seem as if those professors are now being paid monthly salary of 8000naira because of IPPIS !!!

Nonsense. lipsrsealed

It's very true, I'm a university lecturer and 60k was removed from my salary through this same IPPIS when we were forced into it, now I'm currently servicing a bank loan and a mortgage, my take home is now less than 20k why the civil service rules says I most go home with atleast 1/3 of my salary. Now if not that I'm doing a few consultancy jobs, I would have died of hunger by now. IPPIS is a mess, our pecularities were not captured. Believe it or not, if this issue is not addressed the brain drain Nigeria will experience next year would be alarming. 5 of my colleagues are already on their way out,how can Uganda pay a professor about 1.8m naira and we are paid peanuts here?
I know some will say we should not leave the system, our own don too much, but remember the greenhorns that will be employed would not have any form of mentorship from seasoned academics, and our educational institutions will be producing unreliable graduates that can't stand their own.
Remember ASUU is not just talking about our renumeration but also the terrible and deplorable learning environment our students find theirselves in.
l totally agree with you. I just hope ASUU is not cajoled this time to believe empty promises. Time has been invested in this push.

Please, I am not supporting multiple visitations by lecturers, I am only trying to explain what it is and how it is different from Sabbatical and Adjunct, and how you can not combine all those together.
I do not even think the lecturers who engage in multiple visiting enjoy such too, because that means you will always be on the road, from Abuja to Kano, to Sokoto, to Makurdi, etc, it will soon tell on the health of those lecturers but again, their salaries need augmentation and accumulating #100k in like four places will make them double their salaries!
Please, once again, I am not in support of multiple visitation, if you wish to visit then limit it to like two and to a place that is very close to you.

No work, no pay.

Even if any lecturer enroll on IPPIS now while ASUU is still on strike, he or she won't receive one kobo.

You know nothing really..most of the professors in the medical circle still go to work .And they have not been paid for months because of this same issue.

I would like to k ow exactly why ASUU is against IPPIS.
This same platform is being used to pay almost every other FG employee. It is flexible enough to accommodate the peculiarities of lecturers. It is being used in hospitals, esp teaching hospitals where many of the doctors there are lecturers and also visit other hospitals.

If you state the reasons, I will respond

The question you need to ask yourself is this.
Why is NA, NPF, NPA, NNPC, FIRS,NAF , CBN, NNPC, Judiciary, Politicians, not on the IPPS Payment Platform?

FGN just categorized everyone to be stripped of benefits and packed them all like SARDINES under IPPIS.

I Will only support the FGN in the day I heard NNPC, CBN And the Armed forces are on IPPIS

As an assistant lecturer, ippis paid me 27k for three months. From February to April and since then no salary o.

If you claim that you were paid N27k as against your monthly wage that should hovers between N118k and N135k depending on the step, did you at any point take up loan? Secondly, which federal university are you for you to claim that you received your wage last by April?

These are spurious allegations. There's a saying that in every 12 there's a Judas. If there are a few persons in a profession that do what is wrong it is not a justification for blackmailing everyone in that profession. That is most unreasonable.

Lol, do you know the requirements for qualifying for research grants now?

The male lecturers use it to carry runs girls, drink beer. While the female lecturers use it to buy clothes and jewelleries.
Then they go online later to make download existing works.

These people are lazy and corrupt, and most of them don't even deserve this 8k.
They travel and come to class anytime they want.

How much is on the letters of such professors?

So if ASUU implies that FG underpays professor, then, something is wrong with such professor.

For the purpose of transparency, let such ASUU publish the Payslip of such professor. They dont need to release the name of the professor.

We are not all fools in Nigeria.

ASUU is not fighting for anybody. These lecturers should rather use their time to attract quality research funding to the University system.

Come to thing of it, private always base their remunerations on the Federal Salary Scale, and these lecturers on strike also teach for these private Universities. So why are the same Lecturers not complaining about the Private University System. Something is not adding up!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For instance, Afe Babalola runs a private university, he was a principal officer of a Federal University. The point I am making here is that these lecturers are very corrupt. Recent cases of drama played by the appointed professors to head national agencies are nothing to write home about.

These lecturers should resume for their duties and stop the non-sence politics they are playing with the future of the Nigerians.

Your line of argument in some aspects is not convincing. I share your pains as an insider. However, you argue as if greater proportion of Nigerian graduates who passed through our universities were well trained. Our academic system needs holistic reform and not what ASUU and FG have presented before us.

#8000 for professors? I refuse to fail for this lie. Even a graduate lecturer will not receive that as salaries.
I don't really know what ASUU stresses as inconsistency on IPPIS but I've been thinking its tax, don't know if am wrong but my main point is I don't believe professors received #8000 as salaries

that's where they are going, ever wondered what happened to the public primary and secondary schools of those days?
