We have done all that , German embassy in Nigeria, They are Very wicked and I said what I said , 3years of frustration and depression with pains they have caused me . Now Germany is going for another lockdown after I have gone to the embassy since last month. Haba

Why are people stressing their selves with the A1 certificate, read on the embassy website. There are some exceptions. I posted some of the exception in previous pages.

Just incase we have searched the thread and could not find the exceptions to German language knowledge proof.

I am also in the same dilemma.As for me I already even got approval letter but due to the covid 19 period my A1 expired and I was told to get another one.Now the Goethe is closed and I have also been on this for three years now.Dont know what to do.please i won't mind you reposting about the A1 maybe I can learn something of benefit.

that in Germany you can conduct basic communication in German
from the start.

Are there exceptions?

Yes. You do not have to prove any knowledge of German, as a rule, if

¢ You or your spouse are a citizen of the European Union or have
exercised your right to free movement as a German.
¢ Language acquisition is not possible abroad, not reasonable or in
spite of all effort not successful within a year (only in the case of
subsequent immigration to Germans).
¢ You are incapable of demonstrating basic knowledge of the
German language due to a physical or mental illness or handicap.
¢ You have a university degree and probably will be able to find
work in Germany on the basis of your language skills (recognisably
minor need for integration requirement).
¢ You do not wish to reside permanently in Germany.
¢ Your spouse holds an EU Blue Card.

Finally Family Reunion visa gotten/delivered today..I thank God for seeing me thru cos it was really very fustruating journey ..l booked an appointment March 1st 2019 and went for interview October 2019 .verification by lawyer was done November 2019.I really appreciate everyone here that shared their stories ,I learnt so much from u all..Goodluck to everyone still expecting theirs

Nope it wasn't any more ..l first wrote my start deutch in December 2018 ..it expired and l was told to get a newly issued A1 which l did and passed on 5th October 2020..I submitted immediately @ embassy
