The top ten most memorable events in professional wrestling.

Number 6.

Monster heels, Kamala The Ugandan Giant and Abdullah The Butcher, were fighting against Austin Idol and Rick Martel when Abdullah mistakenly hit Kamala and their manager slapped Abdullah. This led to an insane battle between Abdullah and Kamala.

naptu2:
I remember this very well because it was also a very special day for me.

It was 34 years ago and I had a very special event to attend. It was a special day in my life. I had left home by 7am and that was the first time in my life that I had ever entered the venue by the back entrance. It looked very different from there.

Anyway, it was still early in the morning when I got back home and this was on the TV (OGTV).

I remember this very well because, not only were the events in the ring insane, but the interview was actually more insane. Gino Britto actually ran away.

1986 Canadian wrestling. Abdullah The Butcher becomes a face. He fought with his former partner Kamala The Ugandan Giant.

Number 7.

I watched this on my brother's birthday in 1987 and it was wonderful. Good food and good entertainment combined.

Andre The Giant had been the favourite face in the WWF and this was like the passing of the torch to Hulk Hogan.

Andre suffered from acromegaly and it seriously affected him in his later years. The condition means that his pituitary gland produces too much growth hormones and so he keeps growing. It was this condition that made him a giant, but it also gave him serious health problems.

Andre's knees could barely carry his weight and he often had to be confined to a wheelchair in his later years. The condition eventually killed him, as my sister had predicted, because his heart could not cope with the task of pumping blood through such a massive body.

Andre could be quite stubborn and he hated show offs. He could stop cooperating with and seriously punish wrestlers who he felt were showing off. Lex Luger once walked out of a match against Andre because Andre stopped cooperating. Hulk Hogan and Vince McMahon have stated that Andre often punished Big John Studd in the ring because he felt that John Studd was showing off.

Hogan said that he had written down his ideas about how he thought the match should go and given it to Andre, but Andre ignored him. So he went up to Andre on the day of the match and asked him how the match should be finished. Andre replied, "Don't worry"! Hogan said that he was worried.

However, Andre mostly followed Hogan script.

There was a point during the match that Hogan tried to carry and slam Andre, but Andre made himself a deadweight and Hogan fell backwards with Andre landing on top of him (you couldn't carry Andre if he didn't want you to carry him). Andre farted as he landed on Hogan and according to Hogan, he laughed heartily.

Then, at another point during the match, Andre said, "Slam". Hogan was surprised and he wasn't sure that he heard Andre right. Andre shouted again, "slam", so Hogan tried to pick up Andre. He tore his bicep muscles and his back gave out because of the effort, but he was able to pick Andre up and slam him. It wasn't the cleanest of slams because of the pain that Hogan felt when his muscles tore, but he did slam him.

I wish you could hear the noise in my house when Hogan slammed Andre. It was incredible.

This wasn't the first time that someone had slammed Andre and in fact, it wasn't the first time that Hogan had slammed Andre, but it was the most epic and most memorable because it was the main event of Wrestlemania 3 and it marked the passing of the torch from Andre to Hogan (also remember that Andre was heavier when Hogan slammed him in 1987).

Number 8.

This match led to the creation of the Mega Powers (the Mania and the Madness) and it was held in 1987.

The Macho Man, Randy Savage was fighting against the Honky Tonk Man and he was about to defeat him. The Honky Tonk Man was managed by Jimmy Hart and therefore, the members of the Hart Foundation intervened in the match in his favour.

Bret Hart, Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart, the Honky Tonk Man and Jimmy "The Mouth of the South" Hart were beating up Savage and the Honky Tonk Man was about to smash his guitar on Savage's head. Savage' manager, Miss Elizabeth, jumped into the ring to beg Honky Tonk Man not to do it, but she was shoved out of the way and the guitar was smashed on Savage's head.

Miss Elizabeth ran into the dressing room and came back with. . .Hulk Hogan! And the rest is history.

This scenario was repeated at Wrestlemania 4 in 1988. The Macho Man fought against The Million Dollar Man, Ted DiBiase and DiBiase had Andre The Giant in his corner. That felt very nice for me because Andre and DiBiase were tag team partners in 1970s WWF and it felt good to see them together again.

Anyway, Andre was interfering in the match and so Elizabeth ran to the dressing room to get Hogan to be in Savage's corner.

Hogan kept Andre at bay as Savage beat DiBiase to win his first world title.

Bonus.

This insane incident is obviously one of the most epic moments in wrestling history. The only reason that it's not in the list is because I didn't watch it when it happened. I only saw it for the first time on the Internet.

Ox Baker was one of the most hated people in the world. He was the ultimate heel. He was hated so much in Nigeria that he almost fought with the audience when he came to wrestle here.

Ox was one of the people that made me believe that a plaster of paris cast was super strong. He often wore a POP cast and his signature move was the heart punch. There were stories about how he killed several of his opponents with the heart punch. The truth is that those opponents actually died from other health issues and it was just a coincidence that Ox wrestled them shortly before they died. However, most people believed that he actually killed them.

Remember that people didn't know that wrestling was kayfabe back in the day. They believed that everything was real and that's what caused the Cleveland Riot.

The Cleveland Riot

This incident happened in 1974 (ignore what's written in the video).

The storyline was that Ernie Ladd had just returned to the NWF and he was crowned "Wrestler of the Year". Johnny Powers was angry because he thought that he should have been wrestler of the year since he had been in the NWF for a longer time and he had achieved a lot. Powers and Ox Baker therefore attacked Ernie Ladd.

Ox Baker was giving The Big Cat Ernie Ladd the heart punch and the audience thought that he was about to kill Ladd. Ladd noticed the change in the crowd's mood and he told Baker, "The natives are getting restless", but Ox wanted to give, "Just a little more heat". Ernie saw when the riot started and he told Ox again, "The natives are getting restless", but Ox was so into it that he didn't realise what was happening.

The crowd stormed the ring because they thought that Ox Baker was about to kill Ernie Ladd. They threw chairs and other objects into the ring and tried to attack the wrestlers. Johnny Powers was the first to flee through the crowd and into the dressing room. Ox Baker was bigger than Powers and therefore much slower. He fled the ring and was trying to scale a wall when a fan hit him with a chair. It gave him a lifelong scar.

Err, if the things that I'm posting triggered the anti-spam bot, then I would have been banned, not you, so (just a thought), maybe it's what you posted that triggered the anti-spam bot and that's why you were banned not me?

I can't find an appropriate video for this on YouTube, but there's a perfect video on the WWE website. This is from Wrestlemania 8 in 1992.

Hulk Hogan and Sid Justice were partners, but Sid turned on Hogan and so they decided to settle things in one of the two main events of Wrestlemania 8.

Hogan was beating Sid when Papa Shango showed up and he and Sid double teamed Hogan. And then we heard the music and I saw a crazy figure running toward the ring.

It was the Ultimate Warrior's return to the WWF and the rest is history.

WWE SMACKDOWN reviews recaps and reactions

BROKEN CURSE
I only knew today was Friday because of this show.
Well, it took a few years, but the curse is finally broken.
This is the main portion of my recap really because it’s about damn time Sasha defends a title successfully. I popped for the finish!
It’s vindication for all of Sasha’s fans over the years who have waited so long for this moment. And to be honest, I really thought we were getting another bait and switch like last month on the draft show.
And then Carmella came out and attacked Sasha after the match as she celebrated on the stage. That was a bit odd. Carmella has been cutting promos in vignettes talking about being this new untouchable Carmella, but she came out and did exactly what she’d normally do - minus moonwalking. Um… okay?
I’m not feeling too badly about Carmella being Sasha’s next feud, but… why? What has Carmella done besides what she just did on this show to deserve a title match? This is really bringing me back to most of Drew McIntyre’s title run, accepting any challenger who did absolutely nothing to deserve title matches.

Family matters
The arc of the show was all about cementing Jey Uso’s heel turn.
Let me say, I do now think this is a heel turn, but it’s clear that there’s layers.
Kevin Owens tried to joke with Jey about getting Roman Reigns coffee, and Jey wasn’t happy about it. Owens said it was a joke and walked off. Then Jey went to get interviewed by Kayla Braxton, when suddenly Paul Heyman appeared and said Reigns didn’t clear Jey for an interview.
When Heyman brought Jey to Reigns, Reigns told him that disrespect to Jey is disrespect to him, which is disrespect to the bloodline. So that meant Owens needed to be dealt with. I liked this because Reigns is just a friggin badass right now. He is in control, and it seems not just of the bloodline. He had Heyman cowering in fear after he found out Paul knew about Jey making moves without his consent.
Before the match, Owens cut a great promo about how when he was being bad and doing things for his family, it was because of his doing, not following someone’s orders. Jey started kind of at half throttle, until Heyman made his presence at ring side.
Then, Heyman came out, and Jey showed his bad self.
Jey did the ol’ distraction low blow! Now that’s evil, considering his history with that. That gave him the win, and approval for the Tribal chief. Said Tribal chief then came out to show his approval of Jey winning the match.
I see what they’re doing here. I love it. Jey is forced to do Roman’s bidding so that his positioning in the family remains. He has to do this and hype himself up so that Roman sees that he’s genuine. I can’t wait to see what happens when Jimmy is back. I think they’re doing this a lot better than whatever the hell they’re doing with Rollins and Murphy.

King Corbin def. Rey Mysterio - Corbin had been off of television since the draft so I was kind of hoping that the King gimmick would fade away and classify itself as obsolete. Also, when was the last time Rey Mysterio wrestled someone else outside of the Rollins/Murphy storyline? My goodness it’s been… a while. Naturally because Rey was in the ring, that meant Rollins just had to be present. Nothing about this was exciting except Baron Corbin is back and screw this Mysterio family shit. It’s beyond beaten to death.

Ruby Riott def. Zelina Vega and Natalya - Zelina was smart and tried to pin Natalya as she had Ruby in a submission and forced her to let go of the pin. It was a fun visual. And then brilliantly Ruby submitted Zelina as Natalya locked Zelina in a sharpshooter. Fine. Natalya looked real dumb letting that sharpshooter go.

Seth Rollins def. Otis - The highlight of this match, and the only thing I really care about, is the absolute L-O-L moment when Corey Graves told Cole, when Murphy and Otis were staring at each other, that it was like Murphy looking into a funhouse mirror. HAHAHAHA!!! I was howling. That’s all. Nothing else matters.
Apparently Murphy is re-joining Rollins, but then told Aalyah to trust him, because he was doing it for the greater good. Whatever man. Just end this shit already.

Lars Sullivan speaks again - and he shouldn’t. He really, really shouldn’t. Just bad.

Billie Kay is back to being awesome - The segment started with Street Profits trying to get a scoop on how to beat New Day from Big E, who’s been mysteriously absent for the past two weeks. E told them if they just laid down, Woods and Kofi wouldn’t hurt them as badly, and then they all had a hearty laugh.
In came Billie Kay. I love her and I’m glad to see her back in her comedic role. She walked up to the Street Profits and tried to give them a headshot to apply as their manager. Billie Kay is awesome. Please don’t do something stupid, WWE.

The show went by pretty quickly, though half of it was dumb. What the hell was with every single men’s singles match having someone come from the back and interfere in some way? Too. Many. Distractions. Stop. It. I. Can’t. Stop. Typing. Like. This. Help.

WWE Raw Reviews recaps and reactions

Can't we all just get along?
I absolutely loved everything that happened with the Raw Survivor Series team.
Riddle won a match between he, Elias, and Jeff Hardy to qualify as the final man on the Raw’s Survivor Series team. Riddle’s been having some decent matches as of late and this was another. He’s got nice chemistry with both Sheamus and Jeff Hardy. I’m really just… not into Elias right now.
After the match, Sheamus went up to AJ Styles as if Styles had just put Riddle on the team without the match that just happened. A little confusing. Sheamus said AJ is not his captain, and then Braun walked in and said the same.
And then we had the “team meeting” segment, which I feel like I’d have normally disliked, but I loved it. Sheamus is upset about Riddle, but AJ put him over. Riddle said he’s got the right idea to get everyone together, and AJ’s face lit up. “Codenames, Bro! AJ is the Skipper, Braun is Mongoose, Keith is BroLee, and Sheamus is Fireface.” Sheamus got angry because he assumed that it was because he has red hair, but Bro said it was because his face gets red when he’s mad. Then Sheamus said his nickname is “Dopey.”
Get it? Dopey. Riddle is Dop… yeah.
Then there was an impromptu tag title match between the men. And I loved that too! Keith was flying around, Riddle and Sheamus had more awesomeness between them, and Sheamus and Braun continued to fight. But Riddle accidentally hit special referee AJ twice, and then AJ got caught in between Braun and Keith as they charged at each other. Sheamus was about to win but Braun ruined it and Riddle schoolboyed Sheamus for the win.
I usually piss all over the Survivor Series team infighting but this was fantastic. Add in AJ’s constant trying to get everyone to get along, and I just don’t know why I was so ridiculously entertained by it this week. AJ’s just trying to get his team do what we all need to do – get along with each other. Can’t we all get along?

The Rest

Mustafa Ali def. Ricochet - Before the match, Ali was in the back with RETRIBUTION and said that Ricochet was a good man for declining the invite into the Hurt Business, but last week he said Ricochet was a sinner. Um, what is it then? If you thought these two were going to have a bad match, you would be very wrong. They have great chemistry together. Ali did a sick backstabber from the top rope and a Koji Clutch submission that looked equal parts devastating and… sexy? I have a soft spot for both men so… well we’ll call it a soft spot.
… Heh. Let’s… move on.

McIntyre and New Day def. Orton, Miz, and Morrison – Once again WWE decided that we needed to have more Miz and Morrison in with the main storyline and while the promo to start the show was entertaining, the match didn’t really do much for me. I’m just really tired of the Miz and Morrison pairing, but I like that Orton’s taking on this paranoid persona. Next week we’ll be seeing a title match between he and McIntyre and that could go many different ways.

Bobby Lashley def. Titus O’Neil - Titus came into the match with a lot of aggression, and I really liked it a lot. It was a quick match but it was a contrast to what we’ve seen from Lashley’s singles match lately.

Angel Garza gives me a rose again - Angel Garza keeps professing his love for me and I need someone to let him know, while I am engaged, I absolutely accept and want all of the amazing things he can offer me grin.. I know he’s talking about me and absolutely no one else. Can someone let him know please? I mean Ali and Ricochet aren’t offering right now…
Uh… moving on!

Shayna Baszler def. Lana / Nia gets disqualified- Last week, I started to actually feel bad for Lana in storyline. They really carried that same feeling into this week. Dana and Mandy were sympathizing with Lana on commentary as Shayna was destroying her in the ring. Lana tapped out, and then Nia cleared the announce table for the 8th time, and Dana and Mandy protected Lana from getting her weekly tabling.

Later, Nia faced Asuka who we haven’t seen for a few weeks. Asuka had her in some nice submission attempts but Shayna and Lana got up on the apron and Shayna was choking out Lana for interrupting her. Asuka hip attacked them and put the Asuka Lock on Nia, but Shayna came in and kicked her. The whole team brawled and I noticed that at one point Mandy was sent out of the ring holding her arm and in visible pain, then disappeared. I hope she’s okay! Lana also was then put through the table for the 8th time. Gotta get that in! I’m really feeling sympathy for Lana now. I hope she’s the sole survivor at the pay-per-view.

R-Truth won, then lost, then won the 24/7 title again - Hurt Business beat up Drew Gulak for wearing a clip on tie and wanting to join them. Truth pinned him for the title for his 43rd win. 43rd! Then he had a SEVEN WAY TITLE DEFENSE against Lince Dorado, Gran Metalik, Gulak, Tucker, Tozawa, and Erik from the Viking Raiders. Everyone won the title, and then Truth won it again. Harmless fun here.

Alexa picks Him – Nikki Cross confronted Alexa about her being with evil Bray Wyatt and The Fiend. While she was talking, it looked to me that Alexa was almost coming to her senses the way she was looking at Nikki. Nikki apologized for being a bad friend and said that she needs to choose between her and The Fiend. Alexa blew these flowers into her face and said that she chooses Him, and walked off. I am really enjoying Alexa’s role in this and I know it’s not everyone’s favorite, but just know that Alexa is having the time of her life with this storyline as a horror fanatic.

Raw was a pretty decent show! I haven’t had a bunch of excitement for Monday’s as of late and this was a breath of fresh air. Next week seems to be fun already, with two title matches between Orton and McIntyre and New Day and Hurt Business. Let’s keep up the good!

Let’s keep up the good!
as long as Orton wins Mcyntire next week. If not, the show is damaged.

I don't mind if they keep switching it and Orton gets to 16 or 17 title wins while McIntyre gets up to 3 or 4...

But yea you got a point
