This one pass contract clause. Could be a backroom deal that she can't back out of.

I wonder what kind of deal that could be, or maybe she is just cool with the whole thing as long as she gets to be on TV

WWE Smackdown reviews recaps and reactions

This is the best damn storyline in WWE today.
Roman Reigns is doing incredibly well in this head of the family role. The backstage VIP lounge they have him in is so mafia boss and everything great about mob movies.
Reigns came out to discuss the consequences Jey will face and Jey appeared in Reigns’ lounge, but it turned out to be Jimmy! Jey attacked Roman when he turned around and they traded kicks, with Jey getting the better of him. Jimmy came out to celebrate with his brother, but Roman grabbed the mic and said Jimmy, Jey, their wives, and their children will be excommunicated from the family.
The Hell in a Cell lowered, and Jey walked down and climbed up the cell. What a visual that was. Jey up a whole person’s length above Roman as Roman looked up at him.
This is such a phenomenal feud and while I’ve complained about feuds being too long and drawn out, I… I don’t know I don’t want this one to end! It’s shockingly great for WWE’s standards. What makes it even more incredible, is that this is the dude that Vince McMahon tried for years to force us all to see as his company’s top star. And now, he is. He is! It’s amazing.
All Vince had to do was play to Roman’s strengths. Here we are six years after the break-up of the Shield and Roman is finally who he always should have been. I cannot wait for this match.

Contract is signed
Bayley said she can’t seem to get away from Sasha Banks no matter what she does.
She said the last thing she wants to do is give Sasha what she wants, and that’s why she isn’t signing the contract. She did what she did because she wants to be done with Sasha, but it seems she’s an even bigger pain in the ass than she was before.
Sasha Banks came out holding the contract. She got in the ring and confronted Bayley. Bayley tried to attack her with the chair she keeps sitting in but Sasha ducked under it and grabbed the title. She gave Bayley a nasty knee to the face and then she got Bayley mangled in the chair and forced her to sign the contract. That was a really cool visual, too.
I thought this was a perfect WrestleMania match, but thinking over it again, Hell in a Cell is a great match to somewhat finish the feud. To be honest, I’m not thrilled that they kept them on the same brand because Hell in a Cell should be the decisive finish. Most likely, now it won’t. They’ll have a rematch or two. Or three.
Or… four.

Seth Rollins def. Murphy - Match of the night right here. Murphy played the babyface in peril so well with a shoulder injury spot and Rollins took advantage of it. I absolutely loved the finish, where Murphy used the fact that he’s gotten to know Rollins over the past year. He knew when Rollins was about to do the Blackout twice and almost got a win, but Rollins one upped his former Disciple.
Aalyah was backstage watching the match, and Rey and Dom came up to her and told her to stop watching. She came out to defend Murphy after the match as Rollins grabbed a kendo stick, and she got in the ring to get Rollins away from him. Dom came in and then Rollins blindsided him. Soooooo that isn’t done yet. I really enjoyed this whole thing, though. I hope that we finish the Rollins/Mysterios stuff soon.

Lars Sullivan def. Chad Gable - I initially was worried about this, but they actually let Gable be smart! He raked Lars’ eyes and got the Freak (don’t do a drinking game with this nickname) off his game for a moment. After the match, Chad Gable, known as Shorty G, quit. In the back, Adam Pearce asked him if he really is quitting, and G said “Yes. As Shorty G.”
YAY! The Chad Gable is back. This was legitimately one of the best moments of the show. I hated this Shorty G shit, and never called him that as long as I’ve been covering WWE. Let the Olympic wrestler loose!

Street Profits, KO, and Bryan def. The Artists, Roode, and Ziggler - The KO Show before the match was all about showing off the ”new blood” in SmackDown’s tag team division, while giving us what could be the start of a new team. Yeah, a new team, from the company that loves splitting them up. The match itself was really good, with each person getting their moment to shine. They played a potential injury angle on Bryan’s knee and had an odd commercial break where the referee was at the count of 5 when Cesaro layed Bryan out on the floor and got back in the ring. He... clearly wouldn’t have made it back in the ring and the match would have been over.

Tez and Dawkins were great in this match, with Tez getting incredible air as usual for a winning frog splash. Dawkins is a great hot tag, too. After the match, Bryan was hyped backstage and told Street Profits to fist him. That’s not PG! I would absolutely love to see KO and Daniel Bryan team up. They have really good chemistry and I love seeing this Bryan around. He brings a smile to my face every time I see him.

Bianca Belair def. Zelina Vega - This was a quick match but had the very best of Bianca on show. I love her so much. She is the very definition of charisma. Zelina slapped her and that was a very bad idea.

Law & Otis - I went into this thinking it was going to be more serious and how stupid am I? Look, this week had a musical number on another wrestling show, so I can’t knock it too much. For the record, I liked the musical number more than this, but this had fun moments. Asuka’s Japanese testimony was a highlight and I enjoyed the sound effects, particularly the ca-ching sound signifying Miz bribed Judge JBL. Let’s remember though, that WWE just did a draft, and now a Raw and SmackDown wrestler will be wrestling each other on Sunday. I suggested previously that doing the draft between pay-per-views was silly, as feuds could have wrapped up at Hell in a Cell without having to do stuff like this. What’s the point of the damn draft then?

SmackDown delivered a really good show for Hell in a Cell. I’m way more excited to see SmackDown matches. Raw is just not compelling. Orton and McIntyre is interesting, but the third match already in the series. The blue brand is the A show.

Don't forget that we are not letting up, #ItIsNotFinished #EndSARS

It's the usual shift in quality preluding every draft, smackdown will soon go back to being sh*t while raw becomes the A-show again. The quality of both show always oscillates, and the enjoyment of one drops at the same time the other rises.

Remember back in the day when the big Uce was tagged Boreman Reigns. Now, look at The Guy. Killing it on the mic and pushing one of the best feuds in pro-wrestling right now.
Also can't get used to the fact that Jey Uso is main eventing 2 consecutive PPVs.

It's a jinx that needs to be broken. But I feel WWE might wanna make a story out of it. So I see her losing her title at her 1st defense.

WWE HIAC reviews recaps and reactions

The real main event
Sasha Banks won the SmackDown women’s title in what was MY main event this evening.
Two really cool spots from Sasha early were the tug of war using a table and Sasha slammed Bayley into the cage a few times. The second was Sasha running up the table to deliver a meteora. Later, she would do another meteora off a ladder propped up by two chairs.
This match was incredible. It had to follow the opening cell match between Roman and Jey, but it was just as good! Bayley and Sasha utilized the cell the best. Bayley used two kendo sticks and catapulted Sasha into them from the floor.
The finish was beautiful. Sasha gave Bayley the Bank statement using the special chair that Bayley brought with her. Before the bell rang, Sasha kicked it out of her hands and it fell just outside the cell right before it lowered. Perfect timing!
Sasha and Bayley went all out for each other, and it showed. They sold the hell out of the viciousness and the violence.
Mandalorian star Sasha Banks deserved this win. To be honest, I almost thought they would have her lose and take some time off until TLC or the Rumble. I have no issues with this. This was 1a for the night, with the next match at 1b.

Tribal chief never quits
Wow. While Bayley and Sasha was a wonderful masterpiece of a cell match, this match was a phenomenal storyteller.
Both Reigns and Jey Uso killed it, and the way they ended it actually can continue the feud like I hoped for!
The best part of this for Jey was that he was presented as a legitimate guy that could potentially get an upset victory. Jey choked out Reigns and Reigns came to and said “Tribal chief never quits.” Woof. Reigns then turned it around on Jey and beat the living hell out of him.
Reigns did this really cool drive by spot with the steel steps to Jey’s head. Once again, the referee had to plead with Reigns to give Jey some room to breathe, and he tossed that dude right out of the ring! The officials came out to try and stop him, and even Heyman couldn’t do anything.
Jimmy Uso came out to protect Jey’s lifeless body, and he emotionally pleaded with Reigns to stop, and that whatever he was going through they could all work on it together. All of a sudden, Reigns collapsed and started crying. Y’all, this guy could be a legit award winner for this performance.
Psych! He choked out Jimmy and the brilliant thing about this, Jey came to and said I quit to protect his brother, and not even for himself. Brilliant! And that is how you have a legitimate way to continue this feud. When Reigns left the ring, he looked back at them and said “I love y’all.” What a bastard. Afa and Sika congratulated Reigns on the stage with a lei and he held his title up high. What a beautiful touch that was.
I cannot wait to see what happens next on Friday. Jey is now supposedly going to have to do Reigns’ bidding but I don’t know how we don’t get him calling out Roman for one more match, since he never quit for himself. God this is brilliant.

Climbing to the top
Alright, so this was the main event of the show, but it was just not that good.
This was the third match in the feud between Orton and McIntyre and while both men have been doing well in their respective roles, this match kind of fell flat for me. Yes they went to the top, and yes McIntyre fell through the announce table, but that’s been done a million times already.
To be clear, I have no qualms with Orton being WWE champion. Orton deserves it after the incredible 2020 he’s had so far. I… just wish we didn’t have so many of these matches. As we all already know, Raw has been repetitive as hell and a lot of feuds dragged on before the draft. Sadly, this was also one of them.
When it should have decisively ended at Clash of Champions, Orton went into the Legends locker room the next night and attacked all four men. So that means the feud continues! And with Orton winning tonight, that also means the feud continues!
No hooray’s from me. Keith Lee, Braun Strowman, Angel Garza, Jeff Hardy, Sheamus, and Kofi are some men who could have had fresh programs with McIntyre leading to the Royal Rumble. But we’re continuing Orton instead. So why couldn’t Orton just win at Clash of Champions, in a match that didn’t have three legends attack him around the arena, and then McIntyre win here at Hell in a Cell to set those up?
The booking for Raw has been mostly garbage for the past few months. But hey at least the entire Rollins/Mysterios feud moved to the other show!
Also, now that Miz is the Money in the Bank holder, I can see him cashing in on Orton. So we pretty much already know what is happening even if Drew wins the title back. While I hate the Miz and Morrison pairing, at least that’s a fresh feud. I’m desperate for those these days.

The Rest
Miz def. Otis - Oh, Tucky. Why? Well, you told us why, but it’s just a thing everyone has to ask after one of these moments. I was waiting for most of the match for Morrison to get ejected since he was distracting Otis and dragged Miz out of the ring at one point, but thankfully the ref saw him almost hit Otis with the briefcase. After the ejection, Otis did the worm and Miz grabbed onto the apron. While the ref was trying to fix it, Tucky grabbed the briefcase and hit Otis, giving Miz the win. I'm really happy for the Miz
The explanation after was decent for a turning on your best friend promo. I am surprised they took this long to do this turn. Also, hey remember when Tucker was drafted to Raw while Otis was drafted to SmackDown? I guess we just found a Survivor Series match for this year.

Elias def. Jeff Hardy via DQ - I’m annoyed by this for the mere fact that it shows that Elias doesn’t watch the show, and doesn’t listen to anyone who tells him that Hardy wasn’t the guy who ran him over. Like… anyone could tell him and try to convince him but they haven’t even had a segment like that. Does no one care about Hardy’s well-being enough to try and get Elias to understand he’s wrong? The best part of this was Jeff taking the guitar away from Elias before he could use it and smashed it over Elias’ back. I like when babyfaces aren’t stupid.

Bobby Lashley def. Slapjack - Yeah that was something I had to type. I cannot stand what they’ve been doing to RETRIBUTION just as business started picking up for them. Two members lost to the same dude with the same move, and then all of them got scared and ran off after ONE GUY stepped to them, TWICE in one week! What the hell? (The Raw recap is coming back to me.) Ali backing down and scampering away like a dog with its tail between its legs was just dumb. Make up your minds, WWE. Are they a threat, or are they cowardly heels? I’ve almost lost all interest and hope in Ali’s future.

Hell in a Cell was a hit this year. It didn’t end with AEW chants and me rage quitting WWE like last year, so that’s a good sign! This felt more like a SmackDown show because all of its matches were compelling and I can’t wait to see the fallout.

Grade: B+
