Biden did not solve any gridlock issue for Obama. His last two years were the most unproductive in modern US history. I remember clearly how McConnell killed his gun control push and other key legislative moves. Obama had to resort to signing executive orders up and down.

They can be personal friends and McConnell can honor him in many ceremonial ways, that means nothing. When it comes to key legislative issues McConnell will always side with his voters because at the end of the day he is a politician and what matters to him most is keeping his senate majority and retaining his own senate seat. Lindsey Graham was a close friend of John McCain but when his voters put him under pressure he became close to Trump. That's how it is son. These are politicians and they all have little honor.

Even if the Dems win the 2 special elections in Georgia (unlikely) that wouldn't give them a majority. Even Al gore and Bush that went to court over less than 600 votes in Florida had resources overstretched.
