Being Igbo is actually not by force. Governor Wike is old enough to identify his tribe, but that does not mean that, other Ikwerres can not identify with Igbo.

Wike says he is a Rivers man, a Nigerdeltan, but not most Ikwerres will be foolish enough to describe themselves with two names Rivers and Nigerdelta coined and imposed on them by those who exploit the resources from their land, abandon the land polluted by oil exploitation. Wike is poorly educated, even watching him speak shows it.

I don’t thing I have seen many people from Ikwerre engaging in this argument started by Wike for his personal political career.

Don't get it confused

Uche Okwukwu and other opportunistic Ikwerres are all part of Ohanaeze Ndiigbo because Ohanaeze is a useless organization that is obsolete and not in sync with modernity which exactly why the organization has no grassroot support in Igbo land.

Even as UK pulled out of EU, if the EU leaders are stupid enough to make an opportunistic English man claiming to be anti Brexit the Secretary general of EU with the pay package and power that comes with it,do you think such British will decline? The answer is No.
But does EU making an English man the Secretary general of EU change the fact that the British back home have no interest in being part of EU.

That Uche Okwukwu an Ikwerre man is even allowed to be part of Ohanaeze let alone rise to post of Secretary general is a testament to how useless Ohanaeze Ndiigbo is as an organization.
No Ikwerre or any one whose majority of his people are Igbophobic should be part of Ohanaeze Ndiigbo if the organization is a serious one.

So you IPOB should stop quoting this Uche Okwukwu, because you are only underlying the failure of Igbo leadership as epitomized by Ohanaeze when you use Uche Okwukwu as example of Ikwerre being Igbo.

Ikwerre’s are Bini! The founder of Ikwerre called Akalaka is a Benin Prince (Pronounced Aka ‘l’ aka in Bini language). Ikwerre real name is Iwhnurọhna before the Igbos changed it to Ikwerre during the old eastern region.

The Oba of Benin will soon select the next Enogie to rule over his Ikwerre subjects. The Oba during his last visit to Governor Osanyeso Owaiken (formerly called Nyesom Wike) has informed Ogbako Ikwerre of his noble plans to change their social-cultural organization to Omo’n’edoIkwerregbovo.

To match words with action, the next Igue festival in former (Rumumoku) now called Oredomoku will come up in December. They will need five fresh Ikwerre heads for sacrifice during the ceremony. The aim of the human heads is to cleanse all form of Igbo connections in the now reclaimed Bini land. Osalogbua must be praised!

Very interesting interview. Apart from emphatically declaring that he’s not Igbo, I like the part where he claimed that the head of ipob is one small boy whose name he can’t remember grin grin grin. I’m also glad he acknowledged the cosmopolitan nature of Rivers state and rubbished the claim by ipob that they made him governor.

At least, those always doing attache by force can now give it a rest. Ikwerres are not Igbos and so be it. They are a distinct ethnic group in Nigeria. We should all respect who they are instead of forcing another identity on them.
Ikwerres and majority of Rivers people are suffering from identity crisis.

if your brother, from same parents, wakes up one day and says he is not your brother anymore, changes his name to an english name, and claims to be of a different family, he has every right to do so and you have to respect his wishes. you cant force someone to be what he doesnt want to identify with.

Though DNA may show he is your brother, but he no want na. .. . . period.

Ikwerres are Igbos . . . but . . . . . . . . . . if they say they are not Igbos. . . . . . then the Ikwerres are not Igbos. . .

I have seen people from egbema which is near oguta in Imo state but some parts of egbema was carved into River state, and I have seen people from that part of Egbema carved into rivers state claiming that they are not igbos grin grin grin grin

even though the rest of Egbema are igbos o grin grin

Anyways, if they say they are not igbos then they are not igbos. . . .no be force cheesy

let me ask you this..
What would be the benefits if Ikweres decides to indentify with Igbos?
Eg, in 2023,Igbos will be agitating for the presidency from the major political parties since GEJ and Obj have both taken turns for SS and SW. (Personally,me I no send zoo presidency).
Now, if an Ikwere man like Odili, Amaechi or foolish Wike with their 3 local govt should decide to vie for d same post, no Igbo man will oppose him cos it will be like discriminating against your own brother even though SS has had their turn viz GEJ.
2:Unfortunately,tribe is still an issue in black Africa and we tend to overlook when it doesn't concern our tribe.
Now, imagine if a character like buhari starts persecuting a 3 local govt Ikwere tribe like he did with IPOB and Shias?
It will be resisted more if they're identified as Igbo cos d whole Igbo race home and abroad will make noise on their behalf.
Shebi you saw the sustained pressure on buhari and Justice Bhaji when Nnamdi Kanu was locked up against court orders.
Who will speak for a 3 local govt Ikwere if such occurs ?
3:Igbo ppl live in large numbers in Rivers state and this has helped the Igbo speaking parts in terms of political power.
All 4 governors they've had since 1999 are from the Igbo speaking parts with Amaechi, Omehia and Wike all being Ikweres.
The riverine/none Igbo speaking parts already feel suppressed by this foolish Wike and his brothers.
Now imagine if Igbos both the migrant and the indigenous(those who identify as Igbos) like d etches,Omokus,Obigbo, etc withdraw support from Wike and his 3 local govt Ikweres?

Wike is dishonest. He is denying is ancestry, while some of his kinsmen close to me admit Igbo ancestry. Ikwerre, where he comes from is simply a subethnic Igbo such as Nsukka, Abakaliki, Abiriba, Ndoki, Egbema, Ukwuani, etc. I honestly can't figure out what Wike and his ilks stand to lose or gain with this barefaced lies and denials since the war has ended. Why are Igbo's not appropriating Ogoni's, Ijaws, Urhobos, etc as of the same ancestry? This false narration was what they sold to Nigerian soldiers when they invaded Rivers during the civil war, just to be spared from annihilation, since they lacked courage to fight and they must have to maintain it. Sometimes, a number of Ika (Igbo) people reacts the same way for the same reason. Cowardice is a bastard!

Where did Ikwerre is not Igbo mean calling for Hausa domination, you see why groups such as Ikwerre should be careful about replacing one dominant political group with another.

So the Igbo interest in Ikwerre is for political domination, good thing people like Wike saw the handwriting on the wall and kicked against it.
Even if it's for domination as you are thinking

Is it not better for the educated igbos to dominate you instead of some uneducated almajiris from the sahel.

Ogonis and ken Saro Wiwa made no mistake at all. They read the hand writing your Igbo fore fathers wrote on the wall and decided to chart their own course.

There's the Eze family in Benin with various branches. They goes by the morning greetings Lavi-Eze. All established Benin families have morning greetings that identify them and also have chiefs that represents them in the Palace. Why single out two names from the list I gave you.

The people that left Benin took with them names and cultures you guys are now claiming, including the names of your market days and titles of some of Obi of Onitsha chiefs, including the Obi's title himself, Agboghidi, his sceptre are all Benin in origin.

Some have argued that Chime was actually Ikhimwin which the Igbos they met in their new land pronounced Chime. The Igbonization of Benin names and words are not peculiar to the eastern expansion of the old Benin empire, most Benin original names and settlements in Lagos were also Yorubanized.

"It may interest you to know that some of the names considered Igbo names today such as, Amadin, ugo, Eze, Okoro and the name of Onitsha must revered shrine Udo were all ancient Benin names, people and places still bear these names in Benin."

Isi gini ? Look at those names properly, you should have just written; Amadinosa, Ugosa, Ezebor, Okhoro, Udowhimin to make your point valid. looool.

"Some have argued that Chime was actually Ikhimwin which the Igbos they met in their new land pronounced Chime".

The two enemies of the southern man is the enemy within and the enemy from north. Know this and know peace.
