I don't think first class graduate in their senses would want to end up as a teacher in Nigeria.

Sadly, it's happening. I know two right now, close friends and mentors, I'm also a first class graduate working in a bank. Though I've grown over time with a nice salary but wouldn't have been a choice for me if I saw other things to do. Naija no easy o bros

Like it would immediately improve our dilapidated educational system. We all know the best teachers aren't necessarily the most brilliant. How do Nigerians put up with these fools we call Leaders

Why? The others should go and die!! It is true that the best should be recruited as teachers but that you made first class and 2:1 does not make you the best in Nigeria.

As if quota system won't be use in employing the teachers again. You will be surprised when they select someone from Zamfara with 3rd class and leave an applicant from Imo with first class because they need to fulfil federal character requirements.

good move by the Government. some people now graduate with no teaching skills but they be applying for teaching jobs.so having a first class and second class EDUCATION students teaching the young ones is a welcome development, but they should be paid above the minimum wage.

I just spoke with the minister for Education.. He said their reason for saying that is becaise 90% of thr first class graduates in Nigeria are Fulanis.. So other tribe should study hard to be like the Fulanis in Nigeria

All special advisers, assistants, PA, commissioners, board members, ministers, members of commissions, Ambassadors and members of agencies shall be graduates of first class or 2.1. There is no law made that will supercede the law made by Nigerians by themselves.
