Just to ask, sorry to bother.

As an NHS staff also on an online postgraduate program in UK but on a tier 2 visa, would i qualify for this council tax exemption you Just mentioned?

LagosismyHome:

Make sure it comes furnished.... since you are a student do not touch any flat that comes unfurnished.

2 bed or 1 bed will be a personal choice. .. council tax is exempt for student so the other difference in bills light, gas, electricity might not be so much between the two.

Very realistic write up .... with little children especially babies and a desire to work as a means of survival is very very hard
And don't forget aprokos here who can call the police and social service on you claiming child abuse and neglect!

Google or the school would be the best to check on this . Personally I dont know . I checked on open university as I know it is an online program and it states open university students dont qualify as it classified as "part time study "..... so I guess same will apply to you as you are working as well as school so the schooling would be part time

Truly aproko dey everywhere .......

A friend of mine son at 3 years opened the front door when his mum was sleeping and started playing outside in the afternoon. The neighbor saw the child playing outside unsupervised.

what would it have cost to knock on the mother door and alert the mum and maybe tell her to always lock the door and remove the key.... Instead neughbour called the police and it became wahala.

Sorry to jump on this

I am meant to come to the UK in a few weeks on a tier 2.
My passport expires sept next year.

Although my passport hasn't been returned
But when i get it would you advise I renew it here or would it have any implication with further proceedings

Ask for Council tax exemption letter from your Uni and forward if you qualify. Some councils will ask for student ID and they will verify directly with the uni.

Pls do they change your passport number when you do passport renewal? I recently did my tb test and my passport number is on it. I want to apply for renewal now as this old one is expiring very soon.

My dear, Make sure you renew before you come. Then tie the two passports with band. Your brp is your visa not your passport.

Even if the embassy here resumes, I doubt they will clear the backlog till that September- cos of their lackadaisical attitude to anything.

As at October this year, they were still doing March April May June and July. By the time they open in January (if vaccine dey), they won’t even listen to you.

You’re meant to present both everytime you’re asked for your passport, until you get your brp. As soon as you get your brp, send a copy of your new passport to your employer and start using your new passport.

Nigerian rule states you can only renew your passport 6 months to expiration date . Meaning September can be renewed only from March.

Whether they keep to that rule is another conversation , but since you are in Nigeria. You can easily check if it can be renewed

I’m going to speak with two mouths.

Mouth 1:
Baba, school no dey easy. That 2M is just 4k. If you rent at £500 monthly, then there’s bills of at least £300. So you’re pushing out £800 monthly. Let’s even say you people will drink Garri, so feeding will be at £200, making the total £1k monthly.

You won’t start working immediately, at least you’ll wait 2 months for your NI. Say you get a care job (which will be hard cos of the covid situation and now you’re risking infecting your wife and unborn child with covid), you won’t start working until the third or fourth month. But with a balance of, say £1k5

Then you can only work 20 hours... that’s an income of £220 (at £11 an hour) per week, then subtract transport...

Then month 5 she gives birth, baby gotta eat and wear clothes and all......

Mate you’re literally living from hand to mouth.

Please I can’t even speak with mouth 2; God won’t forgive me if I tell you to come with your wife. If the reason you’re insisting on coming with her is to get citizenship through the child’s birth, baba e no go happen. Please leave her in Naija- 3 months after she gives birth she can come. Better still, Postpone your studies- You must not resume now.

Unless she is willing to work with her pregnancy but not many employers will take her (it’s against the law yes, but many employers still stigmatise).
If the wife is a nurse it might work out for him

I thought you had even applied for your visa. If you haven’t applied for your visa, renew your passport, then submit the visa application based on the new passport. Then you won’t even need to put rubber band to hold the two passports at the exit and entry, cos you’ll need to show just your most recent.

This isn’t true, my brother renewed his passport after 3 years because he was going to study and didn’t want to think of passport for the next 3,4 years.
