Where did you get this information from?
Frown upon a public school? The University of New Haven was not frowned upon, but Wright State University? I don't agree.

I've been an old-time member of this thread since 2012. In addition, I am familiar with Wright State University. I am yet to see any student from this thread with an approved visa going to WSU (Wright State Univ). There might be one or two somewhere in-between as I do not keep tabs with this thread constantly but, personally, I am yet to see an approval.

Cheers.

Here's my transcript. Was interviewed on 13th Nov. 6am. When I got in, it was only one vo that was doing the interview. Then another joined him, this one speaks very fast. This guy denied the guy in fornt of me, denied me and the guy behind.

V.o where are you going to.
Me- I'm going to wright state university Dayton Ohio for my msc in mechanical engineering
V.o- To specialize in
Me- (quite apprehensive here cus I was not expecting this qst) renewable and sustainable energy.
Who is your sponsor- my parents, dad is a physician, mum is a lawer.
(Then he asked for my statements, glanced through it and gave it back. It had twice the sum)
V.o- have you travelled out of the country b4
Me- no, I have had no reason to.
That was all. Gave me the green slips that states I'm ineligible under section 214 (b)....unable to demonstrate strong ties. How would I have demonstrated strong ties with those four qst? No why master or what will this degree do for you. Sad stuff. I however noticed ppl with full funding got their Visa regardless their performance. I felt I would have explained when he asked "to specialize"?
And stated I had 5k scholarship for 2 yrs before I say my parents would sponsor. I was purely unlucky. Immediately the vo started interviewing guys, I knew he would disturb cus of the way he was speaking. I'm confused as to what to do next. If I am to reapply and move to Abj. No close dates sef for ppl rejected. Gurus in the house, Fairheart, lagosismyHome, Solihp muleriders what do you think?
Thanks.

Please I have an issue with the receipt from gtbank, I paid my Visa Fee via the Gt Mobile app but I haven't gotten a receipt, the only receipt I have is the "Gtbank Online Transfer Advice" I will like to know if this is sufficient.

I am also thinking of booking with them, but want to visit their office to make Enquiries. I heard they are only landing at JFK
Last time I checked about a week a go, Royal Air Maroc had not been fully cleared to fly here post-covid. Their site is up and you can book but ensure they have been cleared.

Have you been able to use this to book appointment? I ask because you will need the reference number. You can log into your internet banking to generate a receipt. Internet banking not the gtbank app

Lol. I will post a transcript very soon. Thanks a lot ma'am.
missuzoma:
Let me drop this here. Visa Approved this morning for another MFA person going to study Creative Writing at Miami University, Oxford, Ohio. I've been praying he gets his visa and I got to know him because he and my daughter, Naijaeclectic, were the only Nigerians offered admission into the program. Naijaeclectic got her own visa exactly two weeks back and wrote a rather long transcript.
I have not found out if he's a nairalander. He said four people before him were denied and he wanted to leave the line and go to the toilet to avoid the difficult VO; the oga VO, however, seemed to relax when it got to him and asked a couple of easy questions before uttering the magic words.
Bia, Chief, if you're a nairalander, come and write this story yourself. The offer of a place for an MFA in the school comes with full tuition waiver plus graduate assistantship.

Date: Friday November 20
Location: Lagos

Duration: (The VO could make 58 seconds feel like ten minutes)

Status: Approved

Atmosphere: I was among the first eleven applicants ushered in for the 7AM interview. After the biometric screening, we waited for what looked like some good fifteen minutes or so before two windows commenced interviews. The VO at window 9 ( I believe the window that is directly opposite the only door that leads to the interview hall is 9) denied four people straight and approved two. From my observation, the four either didn't have adequate/ full funding as she went through the bank statements for about three of them or she wasn't convinced. All this time, the other VO adjacent to window 9 had just concluded two interviews and granted one approval and one denial. I didn't need to pass further maths to know that the dx/dy didn't balance in window 9. I wanted an escape from this mathematical disequilibrium. But before I could do so, I found myself presenting my documents to her.

I stood in front of her for a few seconds to allow her to finish up what she's typing.

VO: Good morning
Me: Good morning

VO: Let's first get your scanning done. You will have to put your four right fingers here for me….

VO: Where are you going to?

Me: I am going to Miami University in Oxford, Ohio for a master's program in Creative Writing.

VO: ( does as if she's not listening). You said you are going to Miami Florida?
Me: No. I'm going to Miami University, in Oxford Ohio.

VO: What did you say you are going to study in Florida?

Me: (temi bami). I'm going to Miami University, Oxford Ohio for a master's in Creative Writing.

VO: Okay. Why did you choose Miami University in Ohio?
Me: I chose Miami University because of the prospect of working with prof xyx. She's a brilliant writer and will be mentoring me on lyrical essays, a sub-genre I'm passionate about. But that's not all. Miami University provides a stimulating environment for the study of the craft, culture and criticism of …

VO: (cuts in) What will be your focus?
Me: Nonfiction Writing
VO: What do you write about?
Me: I write lyrical essays about losses, cities, people and places and the contradictions of contemporary life. As a writer, I don't see people or places for who they're or what they're but the stories that made them. I see a bridge and I want to know the story behind it. Did people try to blow it up during a civil war? What will life be like without it? I have written about my experiences about places I have been to. I write about these things because stories matter and shape how we see the world, people and ourselves. I submitted some of these essays to the admission committee.

VO: (behaves like she's typing and not paying attention to me, but was in fact listening as she spoke immediately I stopped speaking)
Who's covering the cost?

Me: I received a Graduate Assistantship that covers monthly stipend and tuition waiver. (She peers into my I-20). My cousin will cover the deficit.

VO: Where does your cousin work?

Me: He works with xyz construction company.

VO: Are you married?
Me: No
VO: Do you have kids?
Me: No

VO: (about three seconds of silence). She begins to rifle through a stack of papers for a white paper, and I thought I was done for. But she then added a yellow paper to my passport and confessed those words that we have read on this thread several times when a Visa is approved. By this time, I was retrieving my passport and the yellow and white paper and wasn't even capable of listening to anything from her. The music of approval had left me deaf to instructions.

Tips: I have no new tips. All the tips in previous transcripts here are mostly true and tested. I'm rather grateful to those who posted their transcripts here courageously, even when they experienced temporary delays to their pursuits, so we could all learn. You're the real deal and I wish you all the best. May your desires find expression soon.

GRE is actually waived but I submit it. you'll be asked to apply to the department first which is free, after you're accepted to the department, you'll be asked to apply to the graduate school with an application fee. This application is just formality once the department as accepted you, they will offer you admission too. So you don't pay application fee until you're recommended for admission by the department.
Congrats ones again. Just to be clear, was it with just your BSC that you got full funding ?

Go to the Internet banking of your GTBank then login and go to the airline and travel section and click on pay visa fee USA and you will see where to print your receipt there which is different from the one you posted here.

I think you have not been following up. You need to read other pages of this thread to grasp things.
Since I have some minutes here, let's see.

1, take your international passport to GTB to make the visa payment. They will tell you how much is it when you get there. Indicate you are paying for Academic, F1.
2a, Fill DS160 according to where and how it applies to you. Print a copy of your application for your record.
2b, Create account on https://cgifederal.secure.force.com/?country=Nigeria
3, SEVIS FEE can only be paid through Western Union and money order, but since you are in Nigeria, your best shot is Western Union, and you have to find someone in the US to make the payment, or send the $350 to someone in the US, add transfer fee, or as they request. Otherwise, go to benin Republic, but this is not so easy.
4, it doesn't matter who you have as sponsor--so long this person is your actual sponsor and has the financial strength to carry the load while you're in the US as non-immigrant. My only concern is, what is his income and how much is your total cost of attendance?

You need to read this thread. Start from page 1 for full understanding of what you're getting into, so you'll not mess it up.

All the best!

Hello, please I would like to ask as concern to the SEVIS FEE payment, I have someone in the U.S. who wants to pay it for me
So i would like know which details of mine will I send to them and what do I have to do from my part here in Nigeria, as I saw somewhere in the Fmjfee website that one needs to get a coupon first or so

Congratulations man!!

I was the second person that got denied at window 9 on that day. 7am appointment. The first guy was sponsoring himself, said he has a wife and a kid and has been woring for 5 years combined since his graduation in 2015. His SOA wasn't even asked for and he got denied without futher questions.
I believe mine was due to ties in the US or something...cos my sister who's sponsoring me works in the US.
