They weren't shot at directly, according to the eyewitness and video (don't know how to attach them).

Probably to register their "Presence" like they do often...."stray-bullet".
No bullet is stray. A stray bullet cant enter someones stomach. Nigerian policemen definition of shooting into the air is shooting horizontally. If you want to shoot into the air then your weapon should be facing the sky. Ie hold your weapon vertically.

POLICE NO GO EVER LEAVE ROAD IN NIGERIA AS PRESENTLY STRUCTURED & GOVERNED.

#ENDSARS Protesters left the skewed political structure they were supposed to protest against ; they instead protest against the symptoms from bad political structure and governance system.

Police brandishing firearms on the roads are protecting the rigged political structure against possible uprising in the south of Nigeria.

we need serious enlightenment in this country. our problem is deeply rooted in the Military constitution. Bur how many of us knows this.

In as much as must say this is bad, I think this report is inconclusive.

After all that's happened recently, no security agent would just shoot at innocent and unarmed men; just to announce their presence. angry

RIP TO THE DEAD THOUGH

It means you've not seen where and how MOPOLs attached to some private property work.
In one case, on Fridays the big man must come, and it was sure that the few policemen on guard must get minimum of N100k thrown at them, that was well before 2010 when the Naira was healthier, the policemen would just start misbehaving on sighting their big man - shooting in the air and all sorts.

The Punch Newspaper of October 22, 2020 reported that IGP Mohammed Adamu has ordered the withdrawal of all police officers attached to Very Important Persons across the country, with immediate effect.

Today is November 22, 2020 making it exactly one month since the announcement was made.

Who one earth was that one man who went around with a police escort

We are yet to recover from the story of the Newspaper vendor who died from the bullets of a police officer attached to the Speaker of the House of Reps.
the police were guarding the hotel, according to the report

Hmmmmm. Well, they should always try not to fire unless it is necessary. Deaths from stray bullets is becoming too rampant.

Yes.

Problem is political ignorance in the south of Nigeria.

Even many politicians from the south do not understand that the political structure was a win the war creation created by military dictators from the north; politicians from the south don’t understand that the constitution was supervised by military dictators from the north.

These southern politicians see Nigeria as a country led by northern politicians.

They don’t understand that it’s the rigged political structure that makes north the king.

Who expects the #ENDSARS protesters to understand the cause of police men and soldiers on the highway?

OOzz:
I have said it over and over again, Nigeria police should be given batons and guns taken from them. Those men are evil

When Nigeria police carried batons, less number of police and civilians died from police work than since Nigeria police started to carry gun.

Arewa must have police and army to carry gun on roads in order to intimidate civilians against possible uprising against the skewed political structure of Nigeria created by northern military dictators to favor northern politicians and northern region.
