PhiliptheArab:Wrong!! They sell fuel at N350 per liter because that's the price fixed by the Chinese to recoup their investment. The refinery has been working since 2011 with free crude from Niger's oilfield. Why hasn't the price of their fuel gone down since 2011? Now, we are importing and have deregulated according to govt and our fuel per liter is cheaper than those with a refinery. Does it not mean importing is cheaper than local refinery? Lastly, where's the wisdom in importing fuel from a country that sells at higher price than us? Does that mean we should expect our fuel price to go to N400 soon? |

Buhari's administration exists solely for the advancement of fulani hegemonic agenda. The plan is to make Nigeria the supreme home for all fulanis of west Africa. This plan however is destined for failure but it will be pushed aggressively. We will all begin to see wonders around 2022/2023. Let's wait and see. There may not be a peaceful transition in 2023. When Buhari was crying in 2011 after his failed presidential bid,he was not crying because of his good intentions for Nigeria. He cried because he felt the fulani ethbicl agenda was fading away; he was angry and scared ! Another man with the same mindset as Buhari is El- Rufai. Southerners will do themselves a lot of good by avoiding, politically that man too. |

PhiliptheArab:The incentive to keep the refinery running has more to do with the investor not the price. The refinery is being run by Chinese not Nigeriens. Why have other investors not rushed there to build since the price guarantees a profit according to your theory |

NGpatriot:And wat the heck do you mean by what i stand For ? so when i see truth staring glaringly at me i should debunk it and zombilically reject it Every sane person knows Nigeria have never seen this level of Suffering, poverty and hardship since 1914 its not rocket science that in a bid to sort out the problems incurred by pdthief we find ourselves in a much bigger mess Just bcus of supporting useless political parties you decide to play defiant to truth and common sense maybe you take your proof of vote to filling station and buy fuel #85 per liter or you buy rice for #7500 per bag anybody still supporting Apcheat is one of the reason Some see hopelessness in The Country mind you i am not a Pdthief Fan |

Government is not interested in repairing these refineries anymore cause they are a drain pipe to scarce resources. government is bidding its time till Dangote come on stream. |
| Re: Onuesoke Criticises FG Over Plan To Import Petroleum From Niger Republic by Nobody: 9:18am On Nov 23, 2020 |
Agbegbaorogboye:Because the Niger market is small If we sold fuel at a profit in Nigeria., not only would there be an influx of investors, we could become exporters. And even have our jv owned refineries Like Niger which exports to other african countries apart from Nigeria |

Misterone:What did we diversify by closing the borders? What did we gain? If capital flight is wrong when it comes to Benin, Togo and Ghanaian products but OK when it comes to oil from Niger and selling Dangote's products? |
| Re: Onuesoke Criticises FG Over Plan To Import Petroleum From Niger Republic by Nobody: 9:21am On Nov 23, 2020 |
Agbegbaorogboye:It is the price now, it was lower in 2015. Either way, you cannot run your business at a loss. That's the lesson of subsidy And to be honest i dont like it. If i was in charge, i will sell fuel at 30 naira per liter. I also know that would lead to mass scarcity and black marketing |

NORTHERNERS ARE SETTING THIS COUNTRY BACKWARD. Not only backward but to a degrading status in the comity of nations. They think they are clever. Accept restructuring the north do not want to accept. Allow the south to use its resources to better its own people the north is refusing. Niger of all country. Niger a poor country that even the french colonial master could not bail out of poverty. Nigeria want to waste scarce resources extending railway to Niger republic whereas many towns and cities in Nigeria has no rail link. Going to petroleum matter, what is the special interest the federal government is having in laising with the Nigerien government in crude oil export. TIMPRE PREYE SILVA AND AMAECHI ARE TWO SONS OF THE NIGER DELTA REGION. One can see how the Fulani government is using this men to perpetuate bad leadership in Nigeria. |

What is Buhari's ties with this Niger Republic? Why always them. He is hell bent on empowering these people at all cost. I bet if you trace his root, you will find him a bonafide member of a community in Niger. Let the South continue to fight themselves, while the North is pushing an agenda that will soon drown us all. |
| Re: Onuesoke Criticises FG Over Plan To Import Petroleum From Niger Republic by Agbegbaorogboye: 9:42am On Nov 23, 2020 |
tamdun:By a small inconsequential margin Rather, you should be concerned that, the northern part of Nigeria will no longer depend on the southern part for fuel and by that, their fuel can be easily subsidized by the northocratic govt while the south is left to roast if you understand what i'm talking about |
| Re: Onuesoke Criticises FG Over Plan To Import Petroleum From Niger Republic by Agbegbaorogboye: 9:47am On Nov 23, 2020 |
PhiliptheArab:First of, stop putting me in a box. That I'm asking govt to own up to its responsibility does not make me a communist. Or does capitalism mean being an irresponsible govt? Same way you called GEJ my hero and Buhari my enemy. GEJ is neither my hero nor Buhari my enemy though I will confess that after seeing both in govt, I think GEJ is by far better a leader for Nigeria than Buhari. But that does not mean I'm his supporter. With that out of the way, I hope you can also see that Nigerien refinery is part-govt owned and is actually "foreign". Is that what you want for Nigeria? |
| Re: Onuesoke Criticises FG Over Plan To Import Petroleum From Niger Republic by Agbegbaorogboye: 9:49am On Nov 23, 2020 |
PhiliptheArab:Niger market is small yet it suddenly makes enough to run a refinery from same small market while Nigeria's big market can't keep one out of four refineries running and you put that blame wholly on price? Are you for real? |

| Re: Onuesoke Criticises FG Over Plan To Import Petroleum From Niger Republic by Agbegbaorogboye: 9:52am On Nov 23, 2020 |
PhiliptheArab:I'll rather think the lesson of subsidy in Nigeria as with other policies is that corruption ruins everything. Even private businesses. The US rolled out billions of dollars to save it's real estate business after 2008. That was some form of subsidy. Yet the real estate is back up and running. Subsuidy is not an evil in itself. It's the corruption embedded in it that is evil. As I was saying, I'm not a communist. I'm rather a crusader for responsible government. Cause that's what I see we lack in this country. If we think where govt has failed, capitalists are going to come and be gentlemen, we are actually riding a tiger. |

chinchum:You just spoke my mind 100%.... The people lamenting dont seem to have a problem with Nigeria importing refined products, rather their problem is why it has to be from Niger... If Nigeria can import petrol from South America or Europe or Asia with the more expensive logistic costs, why cant we import from Niger if they have the products we need? You said it all, it's stupid pride! |

tamdun:How is importing from Niger cheaper when they sell fuel for N350 and we sell for N170 |
| Re: Onuesoke Criticises FG Over Plan To Import Petroleum From Niger Republic by obailala(m): 11:13am On Nov 23, 2020 |
backnbeta:Nigeria for the past 21 years has been importing petrol largely from the Netherlands and from Belgium, shipping billions upon billions of dollars every year to white countries, but we dont seem to have any problem with that. But now the govt chose to also buy a little fraction from a fellow black African country and all hell is let loose... Just imagine the sheer number of people opposed to this on this thread, not to talk of the countless herd on facebook. @backnbeta You call it "empowering Niger"? You dont have a problem that we're empowering Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands, but you hate the idea of patronising Niger? We blacks still have a very bleeped up slave mentality still creeping through our heads but we dont know it; this self hate mentality explains why Africa will continue to be a shithole continent. |
| Re: Onuesoke Criticises FG Over Plan To Import Petroleum From Niger Republic by Agbegbaorogboye: 11:35am On Nov 23, 2020 |
obailala:Keep quiet and stop pandering to emotions. Nigeria has been importing fuel from Niger before now. It's not a new thing. The reason this is on the front burner is because the closed border means products from Niger can't come in. So, this is like opening a special window for Niger to import its fuel to Nigeria. Just like border was opened for Dangote. Same border that was accused of being the smuggling route o. I hope you can see the bigotry and clannishness embedded in this stupid decision Besides, should you not be wondering how Niger that sells fuel for N350 will now be able to sell its fuel to Nigeria that sells fuel for N170? Can you smell the abracadabra? Can you? |
| Re: Onuesoke Criticises FG Over Plan To Import Petroleum From Niger Republic by obailala(m): 11:38am On Nov 23, 2020 |
Agbegbaorogboye:Okay so the problem now is that Nigerian government is importing fuel from Niger when the border is closed for ordinary Nigerian citizens to import anything? You're saying your problem and the problem of the hordes of bitter people on this thread is that the Nigerian Government shouldnt be bringing in fuel through land borders? That is what the bone of contention is on this thread? |
| Re: Onuesoke Criticises FG Over Plan To Import Petroleum From Niger Republic by Agbegbaorogboye: 11:42am On Nov 23, 2020 |
obailala:Exactly. You get it now. The bias for everything north in this govt is too loud and clear. They want to reduce import duty on foreign cars so as to kill the local auto market which is southern dominated and also kill the Benin port while opening the border for Niger to bring its fuel into Nigeria. Samw Niger that housed Boko Haram Mind you Niger sells fuel at N350 per liter. So how exactly will the fuel be sold at N170 in Nigeria. Can you see the rigmarole? Look very well and you will see where dis is going to |
| Re: Onuesoke Criticises FG Over Plan To Import Petroleum From Niger Republic by Misterone: 11:43am On Nov 23, 2020 |
Farki:your journey too far. you need to go for an economics crash course for you to come to level. on the other hand let me give you some head start. 1. when you export, you increase your foreign exchange, create jobs and improve the economy. 2. when you import your foreign exchange is depleted, it means you are paying the salaries of those workers in those countries while industries in your country will be closing shops. companies are closing shops because they cannot compete with foreign companies who see Nigeria as a dumping ground. 3. on the refineries, one thing you should know is that government has no business in business. government is all about welfare so it is right for government to want to deregulate the oil and gas industry. when Dangote come on stream, those 4 refineries would be dead. so why fix them? |
