Quite a number of women do not change their names because they are married and they still use their passports like that with their families when they go on holidays abroad. With your marriage certificate which proves you are married, she's covered. You do not need to get a new passport. Also, the moment she's issued the new passport her current passport though not expired will be cancelled and you won't be able to present it. So, it's either you wait for the new passport to be out before you do the TB test or she remains with the current passport. Your choice.

Hello house I have a pressing issue bothering me. My spouse currently is not bearing my surname on her passport but we have registered for another one which will be out probably by Dec 10 but the issue is her Tuberculosis test is scheduled for Nov 29 and her current passport bears her name. Please can she use her current passport for the TBS? Then use the new passport that will bear my surname for her visa applocation.... Will there be any issue. Please advise justwise mimilyrics Omopapa LagosismyHome

Hi Fam.

Wow!
Good to drop in here as a testifier to this place.
Hope y'all doing fine.

Ok so....quick one. Let me share my experiences so far
I now understand why ppl abroad find it difficult to have time. You almost have to plan your breath. Time is really a scarce commodity here. I don't know how all the good ppl here @justwise, @mimilyrics, @stenon et all. I don't know how you find time for this forum ooo. You were and are still a blessing. Whatever way you have been able to keep squeezing out the time to help ppl here, I would say its worth every part of it. Being a part if so many ppl's life journey and being a blessing to them is worth all the effort. So pls as God helps you, don't get tired.

Now....let me say this bitter truth. A bitter truth that ppl on this forum have quarrelled with Justwise for saying. This ppl included me.

This is not the best time to come to the Uk..
IOW, if you have the means to still chill in Nigeria for 6-12months, sadly, I would advise you to do so.

However, if you want to come and join us to whether this terrible tough period, I am not discouraging you. You are welcome.

Let he explain a bit. If your aim is really studying, don't come right now, else you won't get value for your money. The pandemic has really messed things up. The online class is BS. Even the schools don't know how to handle the situation yet. One other major thing is that networking is difficult. In 6 weeks I only had a class meeting once. Till now I only met one of my senior colleagues since I've been here. No one to come to your aid. You are all by yourself. Everyone is trying hard to survive. Everyone is really busy. No one has your time. No one is available to put you through things. This is when you will value trivial things like seeing your colleagues and lecturer to chat and discuss, holding physical meetings. Believe me, you can't fathom how much frustration this can be, esp when we are talking about something that involves more or less the biggest investment of your life yet. This new way of life has affected many things and not everyone is able to adjust to it.

Also, don't think the lecturers are available to help you. They are not available to "babysit" anybody. They expect at the masters level that you are really cooked and there are many things you are expected to know. Unfortunately for those of us coming from a place like Nigeria, believe me, we are really undercooked. Believe me, a primary school kid here will do much better than you. One of my coursemates confessed to me that it was her kids that helped her with her coursework when she couldn't get a hang of it. Her kids were born and grown here. So you get what I mean. It's so easy for them to flow. Long and short, there is so much catching up for you to do in order to come up to the same level with these ppl.
...And yes, ppl are really getting stranded. I already know ppl whom we moved together from this thread and left with the hope that they can hustle it out. They are getting stranded. Pls if you are coming at this period, you are better off with as much buffer finances as possible.

As regards jobs. There are jobs and there are no jobs. What do I mean? Jobs have really been reduced cos of the pandemic. However there are still some kind of jobs in some remote areas far from town. Transport cost on the long run might take a big chunk of the pay(like 30%). The distance is much( to is like 2½ hrs. Making 5hrs round trip for your job commute) hope you can understand now. The jobs are simply available there cos the location is far from availability of labor. So you count your cost.

I am just taking time to explain all these so you understand my reason for advising to chill a bit if you can

However, for all the ppl like me wet naija don tire. Make una dey come ooo abeg. We go rough am. We go survive.

I hope my msg is not all too negative. But I think it will be of good to you if you get the true and clear picture of things so you can make informed decisions.

I wish us all the best we can be.

Cheers to y'all.
I hope to share more and sweeter experiences later

Nothing beats experience as it is a firsthand teacher....... because when someone is told or warned as long as it is not what they want to hear. It is a problem, neither do they believe . Hopefully everyone gets the best experience they came to the Uk for

This is probably not a good time and the full scatter scatter effect of pandemic hasn't even manifested yet, and for those who plan to stay behind or need the student job to help during student life....The impact on job loss has been a lot ....... then online class but paying full tuition doesnt seem like value for money....but hey, your money your choice to decide . So my advice if you come , come prepared and know it might be harder but at least you are aware

Pandemic is never easy, hopefully we dont see another in hundred years to come

After paying ihs with paga, i was just glued to my chair transfixed when I didn't see the paga option on the payment for visa page... i came online & the first thing I see is your comment ... so many thanks to you also
whitley:
I really appreciate your help fam, I used the paga for both my IHS and Visa, #374k and #183.33k for the both respectively , for paying with Paga wallet with for your visa fee, when you get to tge page there will not be an option for paga, so click on Visa, when the page loads, don't put any card detail's, just lock for a back button on that page click on it, it takes you to a page where you have Paga. It was quite fast ...its to pray for visa now o

And as a corollary to what this gentleman has said - please select your courses carefully, for those of you planning to work here after school.
In all honesty, the only industry that is generally open to employing people now is the healthcare industry. Not that there are no other jobs - there are - but the number of applicants per opening is truly astronomical. So select wisely. Read, read, read the UK papers and orient yourselves.

Redraft your CVs, start to work on yourselves (I ran into one of my wife's classmates, an Indian, who managed to secure an interview and said the interviewers asked him a simple question about how he would do the proposed job under the current covid restrictions (Scotland has banned travel outside the country by law) and when he was rambling something, they probed further and found out he didn't know much about the basics of how Scotland is governed differently from the rest of the UK, and he said they chopped him raw)), be open to taking anything you can legally get, and network, network, network.

And lastly, I read one of the comments somewhere where someone was asking something about drafting a letter explaining gaps in his CV, and someone (I think it was our main man Cyberknight, who always goes direct to the point), told him not to bother, that the UK wants foreign students to come in and fund its universities with their fees for the foreseeable future. This is true, and related to that, everyone who has left or plans to leave Nigeria with no going back should be ready for the vastly reduced epxerience they are going to get. Like I say, read, read, read the damn UK papers before you come (The Guardian is free to read online, you could also take out a free trial subscription to the Tory papers online The Times or The Telegraph to get an idea of government thinking) so you know what awaits you. I am pretty disgusted with many of the Nigerian students we've been meeting here, I find them idiotic for investing all that money and still being astounded at the situation here on arrival.

Yes I have. That paga verve you're trying to use has been stated here severally to be a landmine... For their kyc 3, make sure you input on your paga account exactly the address on your utility bill,
then call them
