•Northern coalition scores Buhari administration low
President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Babagana Zulum have condemned the killing of 53 farmers in Borno State. While appreciating efforts of the military, the governor said: “President Muhammadu Buhari should listen to the calls of our people to end the madness of insurgents.

“While we are going back to Maiduguri, by God’s willing, within a few days, we shall re-strategise and ensure the entire areas of Zabarmari/Gongulong are fully secured.”

He stated that civilian JTF and hunters were being recruited to tackle insurgency in all nooks and crannies of the state. Zulum pleaded with the Federal Government to collaborate with Chad, Niger, Cameroun and neighbouring countries to comb hideouts of the terrorists. He listed some of the locations to include Sambisa Forest, Lake Chad region and Mandara hills in Borno and Adamawa states.

The governor, who was speaking at the burial of the planters in Zabarmari community, explained that the deceased were harvesting rice at the weekend on the Zabarmari/Gongulong axis of the state when the insurgents attacked and slit their throats. He added that 66 others are missing.

On end to the onslaughts: Zulum noted: “We shall ensure recruitment of Civilian JTF and hunters so that our people will take the war to the nooks and crannies of the state.

“We can provide them with certain logistics, while we can still appeal to the military, as well as the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), to strengthen support with a view to defeating the terrorists.”

He further said: “We are asking the Federal Government to provide opportunities for youths to be recruited into the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).”

He charged the Buhari administration to look into strengthening the civilian JTF and hunters in the wake of the killings.

HOWEVER, the growers have appealed to the central government to take proactive measures in taming the attacks in the state. In a statement yesterday by Managing Director of Wal-Wanne Group, Dr. Abiso Kabir, the farmers regretted that the unfortunate incident would not only cause instability in the zone, but also lead to poverty.

Explaining that Koila Agro Allied Nigeria Limited was most hit, Kabir urged the Federal Government to recruit more persons into the civilian joint task force in concerted efforts to tame insecurity in the country.

MEANWHILE, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned the development, describing the act as “extremely wicked and devilish.” Seeking immediate action in a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, the main opposition party submitted: “This horrific killing of compatriots comes as yet another of the recurring horrid testament and badge of failure of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led APC administration to secure our nation and guarantee safety of life and property in our country.”

BESIDES, the Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) has labelled the Buhari administration as “worst in the nation’s history in terms of securing life and property.”

Reacting to the Borno massacre, its spokesperson, Abdul-Azeez Suleiman, in a statement yesterday, called for an immediate overhaul of Nigeria’s security architecture. He lamented that the north had been abandoned to the mercy of insurgents, bandits and rustlers.

ALSO yesterday, troops of 192 and 202 battalions of Operation Fire Ball (OPFB) reportedly killed a dozen of Boko Haram and Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in the North East state.

They also recovered four AK-47 rifles, ammunition and gun trucks during clearance of remnants of fleeing terrorists from Sambisa Forest.

Making the announcement over the weekend at Army Super Camp 1, Ngamdu axis of the state, Acting Director, Defence Media Operations, Brig.-Gen. Bernard Onyeuko, said following intelligence, the military ambushed the insurgents within the Shyadawe/Nagasino area of Borno.

No matter the cover up by the suppressed Nigerian news agencies, we know that the number of casualties are over hundred. after nurturing different terrorists groups in the past just for them to oust a president of southern extraction now is the time for northern Nigeria to enjoy the fruit of it labour

Una just dey condemn killings and attacks. Are the perpetrators of these crimes concerned with your condemnation?? The more you're condemning, the more people get kidnapped and kill. Stop condemning and start taking decisive actions to protect the citizens of your country. It is really unfortunate.
And anyone who says it serves the North right, well if all these isn't checkmated on time, what's the tendency it won't spread down south.

Why are we hell bent on being unpatriotic and making Nigeria a laughing stock

Buhari is a man that criminals and bokoharam are afraid of, there's no way this can happen. If am lying ask NGpatriot, Helinues, Ozonengitheory etc.

Arewa knows that the north is more peaceful than the whole Nigeria.

Let's not allow ipods to be saying lies of what never happened.

If the gruesome slaughter of those innocent souls whom their only crime is being on their farmland has not deeply touched your heart as northerner and enraged you to unreservedly condemn those who failed in their duty to protect these people, you are not much different from the beasts who committed that dastardly and despicable mass murder.

Buhari is failure!! A very big failure!

The UN, Aljazeera is reporting 110.

It's hard to feel any sympathy for those guys up north to be honest, because they brought it upon themselves. They're making excuses for Buhari for the same thing GEJ was ganged up on for.

When it was GEJ, he was trying to depopulate the north. Now it's their senile brother and they're looking up to Allah to save them. They are not ready, and you can't cry more than the bereaved.

The town of Zabamari in which those farmers were beheaded is another Christian town, just like Chibok and Dapchi. Zulum deliberately ignored the calls for naming the victims to avoid religious war in Nigeria. I watched on Channelstv last night where one of the survivors spoke in hausa, recounting his ordeals. His name never appeared while being interviewed. The victims were mainly Christians. In 2015, there was a bomb blast in a church in same town of Zabamari, while the service was gong on, killing a lot of worshippers but the government limited the number of causalities to 5. The earlier the government is tells Nigerians the truth and do the needful to avert a similar occurrence in future, I would say they are sitting on a keg of gun powder, soon to explode. No nation survives a religious war because it would be brutal.

;Northerners are a big shame to this nation
,I mean we should divide this country and build a wall across the entire middle belt keep those savages on their side of the wall let them kill themselves off

Kestolove will be obssessed with what happens in the south when his region is on fire... Look at the disgusting region ..these guys are just a shame and disgrace to this nation .

I say south should build a wall and cut them off just like southern sudan did and let them continue flexing on nairaland while their region is a insecure terrorism infested diseased wasteland . If it's not hisbah destroying legitimate businesses it is sentencing their citizens to death over comments they made it they are being killed by terrorists or strange diseases yet they come in nairaland to flex grin

Having good roads or bridges is pointless if it's only coffins they keep using them to carry

Something is not adding up in this boko-haram saga. Why are the service chiefs still in power after all this killing, this country is irredeemable mark my words. From a casualty of 43 to 53 and 113 from an independent source, yet the government are playing politics with human lives in some of the lying in state pictures circulating you will observe that pregnant women were also killed.
