https://www.lindaikejisblog.com/2020/11/boko-haram-as-at-2007-nominated-a-commissioner-to-borno-state-cabinet-nigerian-journalist-david-hundeyin-reveals-how-boko-haram-was-allegedly-born-2.html

Boko Haram as at 2007 nominated a commissioner to Borno state cabinet - Nigerian Journalist, David Hundeyin reveals how Boko Haram was allegedly born

Hundeyin who accused the north of incubating a monster that is beyond being tamed now, said he lost his sympathy when he worked on origins of violence in the north in 2019.

"When I worked on a report on the origins of violence in the north last year was when I lost all sympathy. They actively incubated a monster that is beyond being tamed now. I'm going to reveal something in this thread that I guarantee most of you have never heard of before.

Are you aware that those in charge of northern Nigeria's political Islam establishment spent decades pacifying their horrendously poor constituents by promising them the land belonging to northern Christians once Sharia was implemented? Let me give you a background.

Due to monogamous marriage which limits their population expansion, northern Christian land inheritance is largely linear, i.e the number of descendants fighting to inherit land from the father is limited, which gives them economic leverage in an area where land is the only asset

Northern muslims on the other hand, have extremely diluted inheritance because the patriarch can have 4 wives and 17 children, 8 of whom might be male. Simply put, there is not enough land to go round which leads to extreme wealth disparity within Muslim areas.

This is why Sharia was championed by northern political actors and enthusiastically welcomed by northern proles - it was a bone for politicians like Yerima to throw to the masses, and the masses genuinely believed that land belonging to the 'arne' would be distributed to them.

Sharia came, and the promised expropriation and redistribution didn't materialise. Bear in mind that young northern men, contrary to popular belief, actually want more from life than poverty and ruin. The promise of taking over arne property was a REAL source of hope for them.

Ustaz Mohammed Yusuf, a charismatic preacher in Maiduguri saw this groundswell of resentment and took advantage of it, cultivating his Salafist group into a political force in Borno state. Boko Haram as at 2007 actually nominated a commissioner to the Borno state cabinet.

The disagreement came when Governor Ali Modu Sheriff refused to follow through on his (politically expedient) promises to Boko Haram, including seizing land belonging to arne and distributing it to economically disenfranchised young Muslim men.

Yusuf went rogue and in July 2009, the Nigeria Police Force got involved the only way it knows how to, extrajudicially executing him in full view of everybody outside the Maiduguri police HQ. Yusuf's deputy, Abubakar Shekau then took over. And the rest is history."

So many facts to concur with here.
The article speaks for itself.
The article speaks what we all know to be true.
Humans never seize to amaze.

Farmers don't really bear the brunt of ISWAP/BH as they don't really go deep in the bushlands. Hardly farmers go farther na 8km into the forest.

The Tree felling/Firewood guys have seen Shege in the hands of ISWAP/BH here in Borno. These Firewood guys go as far as 30kilometers outside military bases in search of firewoods. They have always been the highest casualties till day with no media reports.

It'll be foolhardyyto say this attack was as a payback for spying for the military.
ISWAP is getting really strategic in their attacks. This particular attack is targeted at the food security of bornu and Nigeria as a whole.

It seems the protection money the farmers pay to BH/ISWAP in order to access the farms isn't doing them much good as this hasn't stopped the military onslaught on their positions.

The attack was strategic and carried out to get as much media attention. If the attack on farmers continue unabated, farmers might down tools and that wouldn't be good for the economy as a whole, including Maiduguri.
We're really under a siege and need to act fast. Force is what deters these vermin's not negotiation

A-29 SUPER TUCANO AIRCRAFT PROJECT ON COURSE FOR DELIVERY AS SCHEDULED

The attention of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has been drawn to media reports insinuating that the subsisting contractual agreement between the Nigerian Government and the United States of America (USA) for the supply of 12 A-29 Super Tucano aircraft, for which payment has been made, is in jeopardy due to “bad runway” at the 407 Air Combat Training Group (407 ACTG), Kainji. The NAF wishes to state that the reports, which were purportedly drawn from remarks made by the Vice Chairman Senate Committee on Air Force while briefing the Senate Appropriation Committee on the 2021 NAF Budget proposal, were clearly taken out of context.

For the avoidance of doubts, it is necessary to state that the A-29 Super Tucano aircraft project is on track to be delivered on schedule and in accordance with the Terms of the Contract. Currently, 6 of the expected 12 aircraft have been produced and are presently being employed for conversion training of 6 NAF pilots who are in the USA, along with 26 NAF engineers, technicians and logisticians, who are also undergoing various trainings on the aircraft as part of the provisions of the Contract. Another set of 35 personnel are also scheduled to join them early next year. In addition, a team from the USA is currently in Kainji overseeing the construction of critical infrastructure provided in the Contract ahead of the delivery of the aircraft.

Meanwhile, the about 40-year old 407 ACTG Kainji Runway, which has been in use for more than the number of years estimated as its lifespan, has been earmarked for resurfacing. In this regard, the National Assembly, through the Senate and House Committees on Air Force, as well as the Federal Government are working assiduously to secure funding for the resurfacing. The United States Government, on its part, has also assured of its commitment to delivering the 12 aircraft within the agreed timelines, while the NAF will continue to work to emplace necessary infrastructure to ensure that the aircraft can be effectively utilized immediately they arrive the Country.

The NAF therefore wishes to appreciate both the Senate and House Committees on Air Force and other agencies of the Federal Government for their continued support that has enabled the Service to fulfill its constitutional roles. Similarly, the NAF is grateful to the United States Government for its support and commitment towards ensuring the success of the Super Tucano project. Whilst also thanking the media for their usual support, the NAF wishes to urge circumspection in reportage in order not to raise unnecessary alarm.

The reason those farmers in that village was killed was because they were spying for the military and they caught a terrorist and handed him over to the military.

The people living in the community told the military they might be attack by the terrorists, the military failed to take any action.

More than 44 people were killed sef. The people that were killed is close to 100.

You do not control what you do not patrol.

Nigeria’s super camps leave civilians exposed to terrorists

Boko Haram has moved in to control spaces vacated by the military in north-east Nigeria.

Last year, the Nigerian military started pulling soldiers out of villages, small unit formations and bases into bigger, stronger and better equipped camps. This ‘super camp strategy’ sought to bolster the military’s combat posture and enhance its resistance to Boko Haram attacks on its bases.

The approach has indeed improved the ability of the Nigerian military to counter Boko Haram, but it has also eroded the protection of civilians and their access to livelihoods.

The Super Camp protected lots of military casualties and overrunning of FOBs. But it gave ISWAP more freedom to patrol the roads.

After the Super Camp strategy was initiated I felt we were preparing for a massive onslaught on ISWAP villages. But lipsrsealed

The war is the biggest cash cow in Nigeria until When the Government and top military brats are ready to end this war.

For now just pray make Dem no fall your person that's all.

Not all the police force should be scrapped. Just the MOPOL unit. They should be the ones holding territory the military takes over from the terrorists.

In fact, MOPOLS should be the ones fighting the terrorist in Nigeria territory with support from the Airforce.

Barring any lastminute change in administrative plan, the Army may arraign former Commander, Operation Lafiya Dole (OPLD), Maj-Gen. Olusegun Adeniyi, before a General Court Martial (GCM) sitting at the Army Headquarters (AHQ) Garrison in Abuja, today.

Investigations by New Telegraph revealed that the former OPLD commander’s trial before the GCM, may border on “social media- related offences”, which is a violation of a Standing Order/Directive by the Army high command.

In the extant order, the Army had forbidden officers and soldiers from discussing operational or such other activities of the Service in public. Recall that sometime in March, a video of the ex- OPLD commander raising concerns about the nature of equipment available for troops prosecuting the counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency war in the North-East theatre of operation had gone viral.

In the said video, which insiders said was meant to be a classified material, the two-star General had further explained how he led his troops to repel a major attack by suspected terrorist elements, notwithstanding the constraints.

Peeved by that action, the Army authorities had posted the senior officer for jurisdiction (trial) at the AHQ on July 20. His posting came alongside many other senior officers, who were either redeployed to new commands/ formations, or appointed to different positions. Highly-placed sources have confirmed to this newspaper, that the GCM was set for Adeniyi’s trial today, all things being equal.

It was gathered that of proceedings had been slated for 10a.m., wherein the accused person is expected to take either a “guilty” or “not guilty” plea. Speaking in confidence with our correspondent, one of the sources said: “I can confirm to you that General Adeniyi’s trial will begin on Monday with his arraignment before a GCM at the AHQ Garrison. “I’m told that his trial will border on social mediarelated offences. Remember that video that went viral at a time?

“The Army feels strongly that, like civil or public servants, an officer is not supposed to raise issues concerning the Service on social media, or any public space.” Another source, who spoke in similar vein, said: “There is a Standing Order; a directive that came against use of social media by service personnel.

“By the time you violate that directive, that means you have disobeyed the standing order made by the authorities concerned. In this case, the Nigerian Army.

“That directive is a Standing Order, so to speak. So, by the time you violate that directive, automatically you will be charged with disobedience to standing orders under the Armed Forces Act.

“It is based on that directive. If there is any order in the Army, and you disobey it, you will be charged appropriately.”

It will be disastrous to change the supercamp strategy without investing heavily in troops protection and increased firepower. That should be the major thing they invest in next year, even if they have to borrow to achieve it. At least 200 MRAPs, IFVs, APCs etc.
Also, facilitating payment and delivery of the remaining MI-35 helicopters from Russia should be an issue of national emergency to increase the availability of CAS for troops on patrol/offensive. This two should be the objectives of 2021.

The tucanos will increase the air force's offensive capacity and together with the life extension progammes of the other out-of-operation aircrafts, if properly utilized can greatly degrade BH/ISWAP offensive capability.
In fact I am already seeing a strategy associated with the recent procurement for the airforce.
Use drones and reconnaissance aircrafts to scout for BH/ISWAP targets, use the drones to take out high value targets, then use the other aircrafts to take out other BH/ISWAP targets.

But still, this will mean nothing without an army offensive. The airforce can only be used to soften BH/ISWAP to some extent. It will never defeat them.

Thought the Army moved into Magumeri this month? There was even increase in confrontation attributed to the deployment after several months of zero military presence in that axis.
