Skyscrapers cost $1 million per storey. So 15 stories should cost around $15 million, which is 5.6 billion naira. Since this is Nigeria, double the cost to 11 billion naira.

If you want to spend 200 billion naira, that would be over 100 stories.
world trade center Abuja is 24 storeys. it cost $1 billion to build.

Taipei 101 cost $1.8 billion (first picture). The world's tallest building is Burj Khalifa, which cost $1.5 billion to build (second picture).

WTC Abuja is not even 1/10th as tall as these buildings. So why should it cost half the price?

Yea, I've been eagerly awaiting when Dangote builds his headquarters (he has the cash to build something truly spectacular). Total ENP is also planning a building called "La Definition" in Eko Atlantic to house its employees. Facebook is planning its HQ in Ikoyi I think, but it hasn't been announced yet. Folorunsho's Famfa oil is also building in Ikoyi.

Some of the indigenous oil companies such as Amni Oil have decided to go to Eko Atlantic instead of Marina. Here is the prototype of their tower. It is right next to Alpha 1. Construction expected to start in 2021.

Have you seen the prototype of the Corporate towers By Chagoury group to be built in Eko Atlantic??

That will be the most aesthetically beautiful tower in Lagos when completed, The construction hasn't started though!!

Infact in all Nigeria, Eko Atlantic is the only thing that make proud and happy as a Nigerian, I have been to Lekki, Ikoyi, Banana Island, But I am not impressed because most of these places don't even have common drainage systems and good sidewalks

But I was so surprised that Eko Atlantic has all that!!

When Eko Atlantic is Finished, I bet it will compete with any city with what I saw!!

I agree, Lekki, Ikoyi, and Banana Island are all worthless and poorly planed to me. Eko Atlantic is the only thing that compares to the quality I'm used to the United States.

Post a pic of the Chagoury prototype pls.

Even the so-called Abuja that was planned, didn't have a drainage system!!

Don't make me weep today. Our country is a joke. It's like we can't do anything right no matter how much money we throw at it. And if you talk to most Nigerians, they will say Abuja, Lekki, and Ikoyi are second to heaven. Those areas are just slums.

I guess Eko Atlantic is gonna host some of the tallest buildings In Nigeria and probably Africa, Because, currently the tallest building in Nigeria is just 37 storeys!!

Abuja, Lagos are just slums when compared to other major cities around the world

It's senseless. With how high rents are in Lagos, why wouldn't someone just renovate the building and make some nice apartments that could easily rent for $2,000 to $6,000 a month? We like to blame government for everything, but reality Nigerians aren't thinking. We are just stangant people. If not for the lebanese, I doubt lagos would look much different from Ibadan in terms of a skyline.
majority of the people who have the money to do this are actually the same people in government. They are mediocre in every way

You don't understand real estate. Marina is full of space, we are just wasting it. Even in the picture above, you can see many short wasteful buildings. In a white country, buildings like that would have been demolished to make way for skyscrapers. That is why cities like Dubai and New York are so tall. They build taller buildings to CREATE more space.

Us Africans are very stagnant people. Even with the astronomical rents on Victoria Island, most of the buildings are still 1 --5 stories. Why shouldn't rent be astronomical in a city of 20 million people with tiny buildings? Weep for Nigeria.

Honestly I want economic activities in the SW to spread to other cities.. abi na only Lagos we get? Ibadan and Abeokuta especially need to take full advantage of the overpopulation and attract companies to relocate there. this is why we need a restructured Nigeria desperately

Marina district used to be the heart of Lagos, and still hosts the city's most iconic towers. However, there is a stunning lack of investment in Marina compared to other areas such as Lekki, Ikeja, and Eko Atlantic. In fact, many of the iconic buildings are laying abandoned with no attempt at renovation or rehabilitation.

Marina is strategically located in between near the mainland and near many of the banking headquarters, so why is this distinct being so heavily neglected by property developers who haven't build any skyscraper here since the late 80s?

3.55 army been disturbing Igbo business men in Lagos since time immemorial sad.

Building anything like a sky scrapper around Marina and Co would gulp heavy sums because of the heavy expense the foundation would gulp. Unlike in non watery locations

If i may ask as i dont reside in Lagos.

Why are criminals and hoodlums around the governors lodge at Marina exit.

The governors of Lagos always behave as if they never lived in that city before they became governors.

Let one's car breakdown at that exit and that person is automatically doomed from 7pm.

Atleast, the governor sees all this hoodlums when they drive him out.

Even to offload a new generator back then used to be a problem cos the area boys wont let the coys take delivery of their gen sets unless they part with cash.

No sane person will invest in such area with high insecurity.

I agree. We are failing on so many fronts. If not for the Lebanese in Lagos, the city would be a village. Lekki, Banana Island, Eko Atlantic where all developed by Lebanese investors -- specifically Chagoury Group while we just sit and bicker amongst ourselves.

Better say what you know.
I know one of the biggest developers in Lekki, he's a Nigerian. Sijumoto, one of the most popular developers in Banana Island is a Nigerian too. So I don't know where you come up with your info from, simply because Chagoury is the one handling Eko Atlantic.

If you go to 3:27, it will move you to tears. Nigeria hasn't changed in over 40 years. Same president. And Marina looks exactly the same as when my dad was my age! In fact, they were even planning to build a light rail in the late 80s and it is still not complete.
at least it's still looking good like New York City's upper west side 40yrs later lol

though they don't show development, they are good indicators of development. This is because they usually house big blue chip companies and financial institutions that power the economy and drop huge taxes.

Honestly, banana island has become too accessible and the more economically empowered the elites of any society becomes, the more they begin to run towards the next thing.

This psyche in itself is ultimately why Africa becomes a laughing stock.

Lagos ought to have independent blueprints for Lekki/Stretching towards igbobo Ikorodu with excellent ferry transport systems

Plan for Lekki and the likes. By the way Lekki was originally earmarked as a farming no residential location mind you

Separate one for Eko Atlantic. Separate one for Marina

If any engineer with good sense of engineering takes this up, any individual should be able to create series of Municipals blueprint and system and had over to the government

Thanks for the thread. I may take it up for my own state sha since I had something of this sort on my mind for my state

Bros I pray you succeed, then maybe other state would follow suit. Whenever I check various sections of nairaland, I see smart people with excellent ideas, especially the investment section. This just makes me wonder, Imagine if we do things on MERIT IN this country, at least the critical sectors. Nigeria has potential, unfortunately, corruption, nepotism and greed wouldn't allow it to blossom
