Have you driven a right hand or in the UK?Do you know the motor rules and signs??If you don't please take some lessons first and test your knowledge. It is not enough to have an international license.

In addition, what category is General Insurance?? I presume you might be talking about Comprehensive. Are you a named driver on the policy? If not you need to speak to an insurance company first

There's also MOT and Road Tax

If you get pulled over by the police and you don't have all these, you could accrue points or be banned from driving( which may or may not affect your visa, not sure of the link between both agencies)

Be very sure before you proceed, driving here is not the same with Nigeria.

Cheers

Good evening

@Justwise et al,
Pls I have an access to a car that has general insurance on it. I also got an international driver's license from Nigeria before I left.

Pls what is left for me to be able to drive the car without issues. Someone was telling me that I still have to get some insurance and that it would be expensive cos I am an immigrant.

Pls I want to know what else is left of me to be eligible to drive and covered. I don't want to flaut rules, I no want wahala.

Pls what are the costs too. I can't find tangible info on the internet.

Anyone with experience of driving in the UK with the Nigerian international Driver's licence should pls throw light.

Thank you

Hello all,

Please when making visa application payments, let’s say my IHS fee is £705, standard visa fee is £348, when or how does the priority visa fee of £220 come in (let’s say I’m interested in the priority service)? Is it gonna be paid in addition to the standard £348 visa fee?

Yes

£705 + £348 + £220

It’s usually in dollars

About $946 + 476 + £220

Confirm from those who paid recently

Thank you so much.

One last thing please,

Are all these fees excluding the N42,000 TLS fee?

Also I’ll be submitting my visa application next week. How would I be scheduled for my biometrics? Is it a date that is allocated to me authomatically once my application is submitted?

I’m sorry for my many questions.

It doesn’t matter where you work. And nobody is attacking anyone.

If you’re presenting a Nigerian bank statement, then the currency you have is Naira.

If you are not sure of something, it’s better you ask than concluding you know something that you aren’t sure of.

I think the 42k tls fee is for walk in or when there are no free dates - it usually has a yellow arrow going up in a box.

Also you pay some extra amount if you are submitting in VI

After choosing self service - to scan your documents yourself or assisted - to have your documents scanned at tls, you will see available dates to choose from.

I will be glad if someone can confirm the above info and correct me if I made an error

What am I not sure of?

You better recognise who you’re dealing with. I’m not some newbie on here. Check my previous posts on U.K. student visa threads so you’ll have a picture of who you’re trying to go back and forth with.

You just testified about your visa days ago. Enjoy your trip to the Uk and don’t test my knowledge on this.

I know perfectly well what I’m talking about!

I don’t care about your experience or who you are. You don’t know who I am and I don’t know you. You don’t need to show off for me. I also have travel histories so keep your showoff to yourself. Lol
Someone like you thinks you know all. Anyone that thinks he knows all and is not open to learn, will find it difficult to grow and go far in life.

Don’t mislead people make your research before arguing blindly

This thing we’re talking about is simple logic. They told you that you must have you tuition and your maintenance cost in your bank account.
Tell me, what currency is the tuition and maintenance? When you want to convert it how will you do it?
It’s very simple. The amount you need to have in that foreign currency have to be up while your local currency will be down.

I just calculated my IHS fee now and it's £705. Does this mean what I'm paying in total is £1053?
IHS - £705
Visa fee - £348
Total - £1053

Is this calculation correct?

This should be pinned somewhere on this page for all those newly moving to the UK.
Apart from the novelty of driving RHS cars for many of us, coming from Nigeria, take it that you are NOT a good road user w.r.t signage and all that.
Don't just enter the road people, take lessons first.

RHS is also tricky when you are LHS, sometimes you lose attention and wander or look the wrong way. Best to start with short routes first, then gradually expand scope.

Do a research, and check reviews, go to their website look at the course modules, does it favor you? How will it be accessed then decide. That way even you will find reasons why you are choosing the school not because someone from Nairaland says so. Assuming there were still interviews a lot of people would be failing this simple question "Why the school?" due to lack of research..

I stand by my format. Currency you have up. Currency you want down.

Na wa o. Wahala for who no Sabi use Oanda currency converter. The only conclusion here is one should work with the one that is higher to be on the safer side. For me though "the currency I have" should be in British pounds and the currency I want should be in Naira. Even if you want to do a quick conversation on Google you start with how much is a dollar to naira not how many naira would give you a dollar when you don't even know the original conversation rate in the first place. If your way of doing it is the later then you must be one of those people who launches a new toothpaste by pressing the top not even the middle. Like how is it even possible sef? You don't know conversation rate of a pound to naira and you want to start by inputing naira first when it should be the other way round to get the conversation rate.
