Nigeria does not have much industry and likes to do things backwards. So much money spent on airport before great road and rail or water infrastructure. I have been to Taiwan which is an industrial giant. Their airport is nothing special but their roads and sea port? Massive. That's where you see ships stacked high with containers ready to go out. Their cities skyscrapers everywhere not village houses with dirt paths like Nnewi or 6 storey buildings with filthy gutters like Aba and Onitsha.

Anambra is less than 1 hour drive to 3 airports 2 of which are international. Is building an airport more important than transforming primitive cities with dirt roads everywhere run on Keke that have no parks and disorganized markets where people sell inside 10x10 tiny shops and under steps? When are we going to think like civilized human beings by prioritizing things?

I am expecting the usual abuse about being old, worthless, hopeless and frustrated from the regular idiots on this forum in 1,2, 3

You are so much on point but its scary how many supposedly educated people here dont grasp what you are saying and are supporting insanity, redundancy and colossal waste of meager resources. Anambra "airport" when Asaba airport is 10 miles from Onitsha, Nnewi is close and Awka is close to both Asaba airport and Enugu Ebonyi airport when its a straight shot to Enugu ( and the airport has 0 chance of being viable). Abia "airport" when Owerri airport is 20 miles away from Aba and PH airport is down the road.

Meanwhile our cities look extremely primitive with haphazard disorganized 4 and 5 storey buildings with wide smelly drainages and people selling in dilapidated & rotting markets.

Some of our people reason like imbeciles it seems. No strategic thinking at all.

We need rails, roads and ports with heavy emphasis on the first 2. Unviable airports are the last thing we need. Airports and planned and executed based on proximity and viability not on "states". Just because Nigeria has 36 artificial and unviable states does not mean we have 36 airports as well

Upgrade the Asaba airport. Make it the Onitsha/Asaba twin city airport. Build a 6 way lane running from the airport into Onitsha. Do not spend a kobo building another airport

Connect the airport to Onitsha and Asaba with and light rail or a skytrain. Same for Owerri airport to Aba. That would achieve far far more for the southeast than building all these airports

Mktinsight has released another of his numerous monikers to respond to himself. He has seen that everyone here has kicked against his demonic sadistic unfounded lies. Mktinsight aka sage go and die. Our international airport shall soon be commissioned. Also Anambra international airport shall be the busiest airport in Nigeria after Lagos and Abuja. If that's too hard for you to bear then take a hike.

Useless post from a hopeless frustrated vagabond, even at 3am when decent people were asleep, you were awake on this thread because of Anambra airport. Who needs an Oracle to tell us that you are a demonic witch that survives on drinking blood. Does those stares with airports have better cities than Anambra? NO. Do they have better roads and infrastructures than Anambra? NO.. Does those stares have better markets than Anambra? NO. what's your point? Infact Anambra beats all those states in all indices of development.

There's no state in the entire eastern region that deserves an airport than Anambra state. You can cry all of you want but the sad reality is that the Anambra international airport is almost ready for commission. So take your useless, worthless, miserable self out of the airport issue. You have tried for years to confuse us here about the airport but while you were here ranting the actual work was going on over there on site.

You have failed again like your father the devil.

So pathetic. Just empty rants and zero logic

There is an airport 10 miles from Onitsha currently. Airports are built to account for proximity, traffic and viability.

People with common sense would not waste scare resources building new airports when they have not begun to tackle any major issues

you are the one that's pathetically hopeless. You ranted the same empty tantrums through out the night. Now you have returned this morning with another account to rant. Are you cursed? Why can't you have a break and re-examine your life? If everyone is against you, it means you are definitely wrong.

Is the resources your father's resources? If you are wise as you are trying so much to convince us even though you are empty, you wouldn't be on nairaland but in Havard where you will be imparting knowledge

Why are you so worried with Anambra airport? Why aren't you worried with other projects except the airport? We don't care if the neighbouring states have airports that are 10mins to Anambra, we are building our international airport for purposes that are important to us. You are not anywhere wiser than the governor or hus cabinet or Anambra people that clamour for the airport to be built. You are not wiser thar Air Peace CEO that's happy with the construction. We cannot depend on other states to effectively drive our state.

All other airports around should shut down and start using the one in Anambra since they are not far. Stop crying over this project because you have failed here severally and the airport project is still ongoing and will be commissioned soon.

Forget the fact we have airport that's less than 10mins to Anambra, what we are running now is independent government. in the real sense Anambra is overdue to have an airport of international standard, unlike what airpeace boss said "Aviation is a catalyst for economic development", Aviation open up a region to the world.
If not the kind of centering and segregations in Nigeria this airport we are arguing now should be built by the federal government, that's why Atiku Abubakar used building an international cargo airport in Anambra state for it's 2019 campaign.

This surrounding airport you all are saying now that we should use is not up to standard and it doesn't have Aircargo and cargo handling facilities.
The worst thing Anambra state will do is spending money to upgrade airport that's not in Anambra state, only Mental human being would suggest that. Instead of ANSG upgrading other airport we should use the fund to build our own airport which we are doing now.

Anambra state have more economic activities, trade and commerce, industrial etc than every other states in SE and SS.
Only ungrateful souls and jealous ones will be against this Anambra International Cargo and Passengers Airport.

If you guys have sense as you are claiming, u would have gone to ANSG Governor's Lodge or the airport site to confront and tell the governor, Lawmakers, contractors, Anambra airport surviving team that Anambra state doesn't deserve airport.
Not commenting shits in nairaland forum because it's useless and pointless.

Angolan Ambassador, Others Expected In Anambra State On Working Visit

By Uche Nworah (ABS News)

The Ambassador of Angola to Nigeria, His Excellency, Dr. Eustaquio Quibato is expected in Anambra state this week on a working visit.

According to Chief Oliver Okeke, Chairman of Josan Integrated Mills & Farms, and Joseph Agro Industries, who will also host the delegation at his rice farms located at Omor and Umumbo; “Dr. Quibato is coming to see how Anambra state was able to develop the value chain business of rice farming, see the LAIP land, the irrigation scheme being fixed by Atasp at Umumbo and also see our giant mill in Umumbo”.

Also expected as part of the entourage is the Chief Executive Officer of Mastercard Foundation/Alluvial who are championing a project to create 65,000 farming jobs in Nigeria, but with an end target of creating 3 million new jobs in Nigeria.

According to Chief Okeke; “We want Anambra state to be a major beneficiary of the project. Alluvial/Mastercard Foundation are investing in the phase one in Nigeria, $20 million to empower 65,000 farmers, with 75% subsidy on all inputs and 50% subsidy on mechanized equipment”.

Alluvial/Mastercard Foundation are partnering Josan in Anambra state to empower 10,000 rice farmers, under the ‘one man per hectare’, rice farming scheme.

The delegation will also visit Lynden Farms at Igbariam, owned by Dr. Clem Nwogbo as part of their fact finding on how public private partnership works in Anambra state.

They will conclude with a tour of Anambra International Airport, currently under construction at Umueri, to explore Agro logistics opportunities and then pay a courtesy visit to His Excellency, Chief Willie Obiano, Governor of Anambra state at the Governor’s Lodge.

As for the white elephant Umueri airport the Asaba airport was built by Uduaghan with Delta oil billions to cater to Onitsha traders. It is now international yet is a big money loser after over 50 billion spent by DSG generating less than 300m naira revenue per year. Where is the billions of cargo and millions of Onitsha passengers expected to use Asaba airport?

Obiano the master of mediocrity and dishonesty declares he will complete a better airport in 8 months with 6 billion budget in 2020 and 6 billion by april 2021. More 419 and lies.

Start at the beginning and build viable well run cities with infrastructure and power. Then the economic wealth it generates will create demand for aviation. Not bad roads, non existent city organized transport and no public water supply.

Useless frustrated hopeless old fool. You were awake all through the night on this thread even till 3am. Do we need an Oracle to tell us that you are a demonic devilish witch that thrives on human blood.

Now lets face it. Are those states with airports better than Anambra in anyway? No. Do they have better cities than Anambra? No. Do they have better infrastructures than Anambra? NO. It is even Anambra that's far better than those states in all ramifications. Does those states have better drinking water than Anambra? NO. Even a state like Enugu don't even have portable drinking water because of its terrains but they have airport.

Without airport, Anambra became the 4th largest economy in Nigeria. Without airport Anambra became the economic hub of SE region. Without airport or even seaport Anambra became the most industrialized state in the SE. Without airport Anambra 's GDP ranked among the top 5 in Nigeria. With airport now in Anambra you can imagine where the state will be, that why envious idiots like you are jittery about our success as a state. So what's your point?

Obiano is the best governor in the region and among the few best in Nigeria because he has affected all sectors: infrastructure, education, agriculture, human capital development, etc. Even your cursed useless father who couldn't achieve anything in life cannot even win an election in your umunna meeting not to talk of becoming a governor.

Now tell me ,apart from Abuja and Lagos and maybe Rivers state, which other state in Nigeria needs airport more than Anambra.

If you are not a witch that should be caught and stoned to death, tell us why you are so worried about an airport in Anambra? What's it about Anambra airport that's causing you sleepless night on a daily? That you fly around at night drinking blood, are you scared that others will now fly using aeroplanes for their legitimate business across Nigeria and world at large? Why in the world is this Anambra airport your major headache? There are over 5 million Anambra people, and I am yet to see a single Anambran speaking against the airport project. What's our business if the airport in the neighbouring states are 2mins away? Anambra is building it's own international airport, other states should close down their own airports and start using the one in Anambra.

You claim to know everything even though you are a silly empty vagabond, because people with wisdom and knowledge are either at MIT or Harvard or even vying for world offices like Okonjo is doing. You are a worthless hopeless local champion that's why your only consolation in life is sleeping and waking up on this thread. I do not know your background but a modern rail system is far more expensive to build than an airport.............. if we can keep the corruption associated with construction projects to a minimum, 10 billion naira should deliver a decent airport we can all be proud of. Please do not forget that the foremost airline operator in the country is from this state and we should give him the support and base to do greater exploits. The airport business model is really not the money-spinner we imagine it to be, most airports in the world are heavily subsidized by governments. I think Anambra deserves an airport of its own. In the unstable geopolitical environment, we have in Nigeria, it will amount to ethnic suicide not to have several airports within alaigbo especially as we are not too close to the ocean...........these airports may become lifelines in a serious conflict.......this issue is not just about naira and kobo o.

Was just readying my finger to type that the visitors should be taken to see the airport under construction, then i read the last paragraph and ‘stood down’!

It’s impressive that Anambra has the second smallest landmass after Lagos, but is (and i stand to be corrected on this) the 5th or 6th largest rice producer in the country! They punching way above their weight!

All these talk of whether Anambra need airport or not....

grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

You know what Anambra is already building it and have gone far. Infact the airport is heading to completion.

It is becoming obvious that Aeroplane will most likely land there in 2021. grin grin grin grin grin grin. So there is no need for noise.

So, you're building an airport just to massage your ego rather than it being imperative. Here's the reason why people laugh at us because everything seems like a competition to small minds like yourself. Rather than look at the big picture, all you want is to further that insane thought that Anambra is superior to other Igbo states.

Shut up. Sense is far from u

Hilarious. So Chino is now claiming that I'm mktinsight? The irony is the drooling imbeciile and creepy, demented stalker who went stalking my social media accounts to access my private information is one of the few people here who actually knows my real name. This is the buffoon that creates multiple accounts pretending to be similarly deranged posters from states like Enugu, Abia and Ebonyi to attack Anambra, so that his Anambrarian accounts can then engage those his alternate monikers in childish, dumb keyboard battles. That is how demented and jobless he is: a certified lunatic who I would feel sorry for if he weren't such a malevolent psychopath that has ruined just about every Igbo thread on Nairaland. I've given up responding to his account a long time ago because it's obvious anyone engaging him is not engaging a healthy mind - I might as well stop on the road to argue with a naked mad man scavenging the dustbin. Infact, such is his debasement of this thread that I don't bother visiting the thread again because he stinks up this place like a rotten corpse. And now, the new act of the rabid, witless clod is to pretend that I am somebody else just to garner my attention that he desperately craves.

I'm bemused that anyone would be foolish enough to even engage him. For mktinsight and others who do that, you've obviously never heard the famous Mark Twain quote to "never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience". Or that "arguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon...No matter how good you are, the bird is going to shiit on the board and strut around like it won anyway". You cannot "win" an argument with Chino any more than you can win an argument with your local mad man. He's mentally crippled. Why can't you just ignore the window-licking reetard?

Ofcourse you knew you wouldn't withstand me that's why you are always on the run. You are always quick to quote weak people you can dribble anyhow. But na only me fits idiots like you. I know how to handle you.

We don't need a stinking corpse like you being on this thread. This is not the first time you said you won't come back, but afterwards you walking dead still finds his way back.

Useless frustrated naked mad man eating faeces that should just go and due somewhere . You can never have your demonic devilish way on this thread. Go and open your own thread, it doesn't cost a dime. Atulu awusa.

It's a standard all-purpose airport. The "cargo airport" does not make any sense. Air freight is extremely expensive compared to standard shipping and truck transportation. Nobody will be transporting agro produce, textiles, cosmetics, auto parts etc with FedEx or DHL. I can assure you the overwhelming majority of importers will wait for months to clear their goods at the ports before attempting air freight. It won't bring down any cost of imported goods.

This alone shows you are unenlightened and not exposed... Do you kno everything sold in emeka offor plaza got into Nigeria through lagos air cargo..

The more you write the more you reveal your ignorance...

There is no way cargo is more expensive than shipping....

Cargo secures availability.... Faster purchase or supply..
Phones, and accessories, clothes, lots of stuffs... And its fasters...
You are ill informed and u dont even kno.. Yet u position urself as someone knowledgeable.

Very good response. That idiot is a hopeless frustrated bastard that should be thrown into River Niger with heavy stone tied on his naked. This same stupid fellow thinks he knows more than everyone here meanwhile he is just an empty hopeless frustrated vagabond.
